For anyone interested, Nick Searcy aka Art called into Rush today. They talked for about 15 min. Rush is a big Justified and Breaking Bad fan.

It's not really politics, it's the content of a person's character that defines them. People are often judged by the company they keep, and rightly so. I can remain a fan of Chief Deputy Art Mullen and I'm certainly not going to stop watching the show, but I can't help but think less of Nick Searcy after hearing of the company he sometimes chooses to keep.

No need to lock the thread, just edit/remove the political bs of the "tolerant" left like they so quickly edit the commentary when its from the other side.  A little bipartisan post removal would be appreciated now and then.

A lot of sturm und drang over nothing. If Rush really likes the show, good for him. It has nothing to do with politics.

Back to the show, I find myself being blown away by these episodes. The writing is so rich and I love the language. I also find myself loving every bit of the show. Other shows have exposition or backstory that has to be filled. There isn't anything in this show that isn't worthwhile. Scenes of Art, Raylan and Tim in the car waiting are filled with great dialogue. Art talking to the guy who was interviewing for his job are amazing. I savor every bit of these shows.

Thanks. He's a co-exec this year, full exec next year. I'd like to say that those promotions are based purely on merit, but it has a lot to do with the deal your lawyer negotiates, and my son was smart enough to get himself a good one early on!

I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh anymore, either. I was sorry though that I missed Nick Searcy's appearance so did a search and found it here. Was pleased to learn that Searcy didn't go into "mega-ditto!" mode.smile.gif There are a few political references over the course of a nearly 13 minute interview but they really weren't wearing. Searcy was just as funny and charming as I had expected him to be. Better yet, even Rush wore fairly well.

I agree that Rush Limbaugh is hard to take when he gets in arrogant high dudgeon, never passing up the opportunity to take a cheap shot, then he is something even a mother couldn't love. Still, meanspirited though it may be, the way in which Rush makes the left crazy makes me laugh. You understand, I am sure, even that isn't enough to get me to listen to the man's palaver anymore.

I apologize for continuing the Rush Limbaugh thread drift in this wonderful thread but thought a link to Nick Searcy's charming appearance with Limbaugh might make it worth the risk.

Art has some of the best lines in the show. The character is a hoot!

In the last show, which I sadly erased and can't reclaim the exact wording he tells the room of deputies that, "an empty courier bag gives me a Marshall stiffy."

That the actor talks with Rush and that PO's some gives me a listener stiffy.

That's really it. It's a mistake to think that people's dislike of the guy is solely political - a lot of folks on the Right can't stand him either. It's more that he's a probable sociopath with a really big megaphone. As far as Searcy is concerned, Art Mullen might put it this way: If you lie down with dogs, you're bound to get fleas.

And that's that last I'm going to say about He Who Shall Not Be Named. My apologies to all who have been so righteously offended. tongue.gif Now, back to the discussion of our favorite show, where Art doesn't imitate Nick. wink.gif
