I had the good fortune to attend the justified premiere party tonight, and quite a party it was: saw a screening of the first episode (terrific), met Walt Goggins and Joelle Carter and Damon Herriman (all VERY nice), in short, had a wonderful time. This season starts like a house on fire, don't miss it!

Thanks. Justified is my favorite show right now so I won't miss it.

Quite possibly the only thing that's going to warm my loins throughout the day today is the thought of sitting on the couch and watching Justified tonight!

Happily looking forward to this. Warned the girlfriend that the time slot is taken. No interruptions... I will pay for a few days for that, but this is how committed I am.

So great to have my favorite show back. Fantastic episode, incredibly high body count...

I was having trouble keeping track of all the new characters introduced in this episode. That wasn't really an issue by the time it was over. biggrin.gif

I rewatched the end of last season to remind myself and completely forgot that Sammy had risen to power. His tenure did not last very long at all. I hope we see more of Dave Foley and Will Sasso and that it wasn't just an amusing cameo for a Tim Horton history lesson.

On top of an excellent opening episode, the new characters are a great way to start the year.

Oh Justified...how I have missed thee.wink.gif

Tremendous season opener! So many dead bodies in the first episode eek.gif

I saw lots of guest stars as well. Lots of cameos, wonder if they're going to be apart of the season.

It was like watching a shooting gallery at an amusement park. With great writing of course. Body count so far... 9 humans, one above ground pool.

Will have to re-watch to see what I missed, went from shock to shock. Can't afford to miss great quotes.

Poor Sammy... didn't he see Scarface? chainsawing minions just never works out for mob bosses.

One definite complaint: Dilly (Monk's Jason Gray-Stanford, yep that was Randy) was just too superior a character to waste. One "we'll see" complaint: Daryl is not yet the compelling foil and villain we have come to expect from the show.

Still my favorite "Can't Miss" show and enhanced mightily with an appearance from Dewey.

Well. That was...um.....amazing. eek.gif

The Crowes: Guess blood isn't thicker than water. eek.gifeek.gif

What kind of an idiot insults Boyd Crowder like that with no armed backup? eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif

So speaking of Boyd, I kinda missed what Paxson's hot wife was doing at the end... was she going to claim that a burglar took Paxson out and get his money etc. and forget about Boyd?

That would be a damn shame, SoA is past ready to go away but in my mind Justified has much longer legs. I guess the big actors like Goggins are ready to move on judging by that article. Thanks.

I think that's right. She recognized in an instant what Paxson couldn't figure out after many years of knowing Boyd - don't even think about crossing him. But when she saw that Paxson was still alive, her calculus changed. It will be an interesting plot thread to how this event unspools over the course of the season. Will Paxson seek revenge or will he be too damaged - maybe even comatose - from the assault? What will his hot, new wife do? She seems fairly formidable.

The thing is, Justified is showing no signs of being past its prime. In fact, for me at least, it just keeps getting better. I thought the season opener this year was their strongest ever, and that's saying a lot. The way they juggled the storylines was expertly done, and the new characters are as fascinating as those we have already grown to love. The show has created its own reality in the hills of Kentucky, a world I'm more than willing to immerse myself in each week. Its a world at least as well developed as Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, the only two shows that deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as this one. When the quality reaches the level of those 3 shows it becomes a matter of personal preference which is better, but for me Justified comes out on top. Elmore has got to be smiling.

Couldn't agree more! Justified is at least as good as ever and just as Elmore-esque as ever. It is indeed worthy of being in the conversation with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. This show had to have been high on The Man's list of signal achievements.

Finally got around to watching this. Very good opener. Curious to see how the Crowe family storyline plays out. I agree with the poster who said that only an idiot so blatantly insults Boyd and his woman directly to his face like that. What was he thinking? And I wonder if we'll see Dickie Bennett again, now that he's out of prison.

The only dialogue I thought was kinda weak was the "Boyd, he got your ear!" "I know, I'm the one who got shot!" exchange. Too hokey and too obvious an attempt at humor.

The decision to stop after six season was made last spring, after the conclusion of the 4th season. The producers made the decision. There was talk of doing 30 more episodes and having a short 7th, but the decision was made to stop at 26.

Great idea, one many great series are emulating. One of the cardinal rules of show biz: Always leave 'em wanting more.
