Well at least Devil has solace in that as Raylan says, "Growing old is not for *******." I really enjoy most of the dialog on this well done refreshing show. I did think that Mr Detroit was too over the top with his Amen speech to the soon to be late Dev.

My impression was that Mr Detroit was out of his depth in dealing with hillbilly criminal types. I think we'll see more of that and he'll eventually be brought down because of it. Now if he gets hooked up with Boyd, that could change.

Nope. He and Boyd will end up going toe to toe as the theme of this season.

Too bad the prison guard brought a gun to a car fight.* It's obvious why Rayaln is a US Marshall as he'd be a poor EMT.

*read this elsewhere

I love how Raylan said that he'd have to save Dickie's ass agin for the 2nd time .

Nice one.

I am wondering what is going to happen to Dickie now?
Having him go to prison forever isn't a way to end his character IMO.
Something else will have to happen.

Dickie gave back the money to Limehouse & said that he expected the deal to be still open , wanting to see a improve in terms ...
So Yeah the plot curve on Dickie is just starting agin .
then there's Dewie & the organs for sale thread ....

Actually, Devil made a miraculous recovery, went into Witness Protection, and is now working as an NYPD detective on Unforgettable.

I wondered if Dickie might be thinking he could use that money again to gain favor in prison or elsewhere. He's the only one who knows how little there is, and everyone will still assume its a lot more. (Limehouse excepted) So it could keep him alive, people wanting it.

Naw, I heard he will be featured in an upcoming episode of The Walking Dead.

Now that the Devil we know is gone, we're left with...

This week's show was another wonderful episode. Justified's writers have been focused like lasers on Elmore Leonard's uniquely entertaining style this season and seem to be getting better and better at it. This is the only show since Deadwood in which the dialog has been so delicious that I have gone back and watched part or all of an episode just to savor it again.

Without question a must see every week.
The show has actually inspired the wife to read EL for the first time ever (in spite of my raving of Leonard's stuff over the years).

If your wife hasn't done so already, she should read Elmore Leonard's latest, Raylan. Chris Ryan's reference to organ harvesting in the Grantland piece linked to above reminded me of it. Raylan seems more like a couple of novellas strung together than it does a novel but it is still great stuff, Elmore still at the top of his game.

Another great episode - think about it - no Ava, Winona or Art, but the show has a deep bench - enjoyed Rachel & Raylan's scene in the car, and Boyd & Raylan chatting in the bar. Speaking about Boyd's bar - anyone notice there's always very cool music playing in the background - would love to know more about the tunes on Boyd's jukebox!

Tim Goodman's TV Power Rankings are in The Hollywood Reporter today; he's got Justified at # 1.

Loved it, as usual. What on earth was Devil thinking? Nobody crosses Boyd Crowder - and survives. Loved Loretta and her conversation with Raylan.

So I guess Limehouse performs personal banking functions as a service, with just word & handshake contracts? Sounds kind of like Wadiah, an Islamic form of personal banking. The question I have is, is he just blatently ripping Dickie off? Or did Mags really extinguish nearly all the $3 million before she had her "apple pie"?

Didn't she buy up all the land on the top of the mountain to later sell and make a profit when the coal company came to buy it? That deal fell through though right? So maybe she still owns the land.

I love how this show shows how dumb criminals are.

Plus it creates so many people for Raylon to fight with.

Dickie Bennett stole the show! What happened to Dewie?

Seems that Mags spend most all of the loot/stash buying up the Properties that the coal road needed to cross , when Mags died (it was proven that she was involved in the murders leading up to the show down ) all that land & profit was grabbed by the Marshall service as ill-gotten gains from a criminal enterprise .Limehouse is not gonna rip any-one off as he's a lender/money launderer, so to go forward he has to keep deals that he made or lose all his customer's faith in him. That's why Dickie gave the cash back to him soo that the cash would go forward & make some + investments. Dickie is in lock-up so having a wad of cash is useless to him(it would be easliy grabbed by the Marshalls,Blue Eyes or anyone else) , best & safest is to let Limehouse keep so that the wad can grow . As the last thing Dickie said to Limehouse was to let the money roll over
post #1013 of 3221
the properties were not sold as a whole, Mags was just buying mineral rights & access rights to the lands . So it's not that the Marshall service now owns that land , but they will sell the rights to highest bidder IE:the Coal Company
either way the town of Harlan loses anyway , that's why the locals are still mad @ the last of the Bennets : Dickie
post #1014 of 3221
Dickie gave the money back because it gives him security, and it is useless when Marshal Gibbons after you.

An ace in sleeve for when he gets out.

I agree with the conclusion that Mags spent the money herself and that Limehouse's representation that only $40 something thousand was left was the truth. I also believed Limehouse when he told Dickie that he had detailed records of what had come in and what had gone out.

I suppose that's a big reason why she offed herself. She knew she was about to be destitute even if she wasn't going to be prosecuted for her crimes. She really didn't have anything left to live for, and she said herself she'd never leave that mountain alive.

I wonder if that's what happened to the guy tied down in Quarles' bed, having his organs harvested?

Doubt it as there is seemingly no established connection between Mr Detroit and the prison doc sadist. I for one hope to see Mr Ponytail have a run as an interesting bad guy. Maybe get Ava alone, start to do his thing and...unexpectedly get his comeuppance.

I think Mr Detroit should be now monikered as:

Doctor Detroit-
