Have any other owners had this issue? It appears to be unrelated to the "blinking issue" (never had that one myself) and is more related to a failure of capacitors on the motherboard.

Scouring all 203 pages of this thread I could only find hell167's similar report of this, but on an older model. Amazon/Cnet have reports of this on the C8000.

About 10 days left in my warranty, of course. For those of you who have had warranty service, are any part replacements covered under a new 12 month warranty?

Has anyone ever heard of paying Samsung to upgrade models? I fear this problem will arise every 9-12 months with this set, and would prefer to upgrade to a D8000 or something that would be a bit more stable.

This has given me pause in recommending Samsung to others.

You have nothing to lose you should try and upgrade I dont see why they wouldn't upgrade you...you are paying for it....good luck and act fast

I believe that if you register your TV on-line at the Samsung web site they give you an etxra 3 months of warranty at no cost.

Hey all, I just got a pair of nxg 3d glasses for my un46c8000.

I'm wondering if there is any benefit of upgrading the firmware now that I have the glasses.

Currently my tv has version 2010/04/19_001019. When I go to the upgrade online function on the tv it says I can upgrade to version 001035. Should I do it?

I'm always hesitant to upgrade firmware on a device that works almost perfectly in fear of introducing new problems. Thanks!
I have always had no issues after an upgrade. But I have heard of someone who "bricked" their TV. So I suggest you do it while still under warranty.

I have just purchased the UN65C8000 and hooked to the cable box via hdmi and have my stereo receiver hooked up. The sound on the tv is not in synch with the sound coming through the speakers. It sounds like an echo and I have to turn the TV sound completely off for it to sound right. I was wanting to use the tv speaker as a center channel. Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?

I also synched the tv to my router and see the Internet @ TV is working but is there a way to stream audio files from my cpu via the router?

Thanks for the help.

Is the sound before the video? That means the tv is processing the video too slowly. Try to see if there is an audio delay calibration on your receiver. I'm not sure using your tv speakers as a center is optimal but give it a shot.

I believe there is a samsung app for the pc that allows you so stream audio, video, and pics to the tv. Try the samsung website to find it.
Hook your cable box to your receiver...then from the output on your receiver connect that to the tv. You are only getting two channel audio by going out from the tv to the receiver. Also buy a center channel to match your speakers. If you can afford a 65c8000 then you can afford a center channel. Using your tv as a center is a bad idea

Yeah, that sucks. I have a ton of movies on hard drive and my 46C8000 plays them fine plugged in to the USB drive, but I only get two-channel audio, too.

I wonder if the new models output DD or DTS audio? Also, can last year's sets be upgraded to the firmware of this year's sets? Anyway to pull that off? The interface for the new SMART TV is better than last year's.
Why not just connect your harddrive to your receiver...problem solved?

-plus I bought the tv at futureshop and it was a floor model for a a pretty good price along with a 4 year warranty.... but the controller doesnt have flat buttons its all black and has rubber buttons...

- last i have cable television where is the cable to attach? my old samsumg lnt model had the cable attachment.....
Looks like they didn't give you the right remote and also didn't include the adapters that go on the back of the TV.
Just use game mode on the tv always for video games. It looks that way for a reason and it turns off many of the filters that the tv's have which create game lag that you won't really notice until you try to play online. Also without those cable attachment things you won't really get far but you dont really need them if you use the ARC input just to run the Internet apps audio. You will only need to buy the USB dongle to get the tv online.

The 55unc8000 i got about a month and a half ago recently started flipping out and turning itself on and off by itself and the volume would turn itself up all the way then back down, switch modes by itself, etc... and none of the buttons on the bezel would work. I called Samsung and they set up service with a local contractor, but the service guy never came and as the days went by he would not return phone calls, so I called Samsung back and they could not get ahold of the service person either and would not return Samsungs calls either.

Frustrated by the way my tv was acting and contracted service person avoiding me and Samsung, I asked if they would just send me a new 55unc8000 and they stated they did not have any left, so instead they said they would send me a new 55und8000 to replace the 55unc8000 at no cost, which just shipped today so hopefully I will get it soon (They said 5-10 business days and gave me tracking number). They were very nice about the whole thing. If you call service and they come and cannot fix it I assume they would offer you the same replacement deal. If they come and can fix it I would suggest buying a extended warranty from samsung in case it happens again.

Sometimes I press the power button and the tv will not go on. Un55c8000. I am unable to reproduce it though. If I did try to get someone out here to look at it...I wouldn't even know what to tell them to fix. What should I do becuz I would love a 55d8000.

Mine will do one of the following at least every 10-30 minutes sometimes even more frequently, the tv will shut itself off and you will have to turn it back on with the remote since none of the buttons on the bezel work, or what it just did as I am typing this it changed source by itself, the volume will go all the way to 100 or it will go all the way to 0 by itself, sometimes i will turn it off and go to sleep and be woken up to the tv turning itself on and the volume all the way up to 100 lol... if you have it on any other setting then dynamic it will turn itself off then turn itself back on and be in dynamic mode... the lists goes on and on....

Your problem sounds like something they could fix cheaper then replace the tv for, mine is something that would probably cost them more to fix then replace, and since their service contractor in my area was dodging me and samsung themselves for days after they were supposed to have shown up, and they did not have anymore 55 unc8000s they are replacing it with the 55 und8000. I did not try to scam them and do not recommend anyone to try to.

I will probably drag the tv it replaced (52 Sharp Aquos LED) back out of the bed room and into the living room until the new tv gets here because the way my unc8000 is acting up makes it unbearable. I just wont have a tv in the bedroom until the new one gets here because i gave my 32 inch Sharp that was my bedroom tv to my dad, but it is a small price to pay for what Samung has done for me, and I am very happy with them. It is my first samsung tv and even though it went bezerk on me their customer service made up for it on their dime, not on mine like some other companies have, and I would not hesitate to buy another Samsung in fact because of the customer service they provided me I will probably stick with Samsungs from now on.

Hi can anyone help me with the calibration set up of my C8000? Thanks.
Elfather,

Go buy DVE:HD Basics to calibrate or use a thx certified disk. That will at least get you started with the THX optimizer found in disks like T2 on blu.

I had this exact same issue and it turned out to be a faulty power supply.

I stopped by my local hifi shop on Friday and snagged two pairs of 2010 glasses and two 3d movies starter pack for $150. Check those out and eBay seem to be the cheapest. Samsungs website also sells them but they are full price

Ebay is the lowest priced option
I bought all 4 pair of mine there...now that they are "obsolete" I bet the prices will fall

I was talking to a sales person the other day who said they had tried the 2010 glasses with a 2011 Tv and vice versa and confirmed that it didn't work

She said the 2010 glasses would turn on for a 2011 model TV..but would then shut off again almost immediately

A new owner of UN55C7000, upgraded from b6000.

A few questions:

1. Can someone point to calibration settings for C7000? I really liked cnet settings for b6000, but can't find c7000 there. So far I found these, but wonder if there's anything else - http://www.televisioninfo.com/conten...alibration.htm

2. Is there a way to make SD look better? Out of the box SD channels are noticeably worse then on B6000.

3. Smooth setting is jerky like there's a frame dropout. Is there a fix for that? Can custom settings give the same smooth effect but without the jerkiness?

4. Does 6300/6500/8000 have the same issue with smooth setting?

Thanks!

In response to this.. I promptly filled out a repair report on the Samsung website. The 3-month extension on the warranty was no longer offered, and I hadn't done it initially. The repairman came out promptly and had all the parts.

Problem was a loose transformer on the main logic board of the TV. He said that he's seen it before; it can detach from its solder and short out if you tap it. Samsung has addressed the problem last year but I had one of the first runs of the C8000. I had figured it was a capacitor problem after reading up on the symptoms.

He also mentioned that it would probably have been fixed even outside of the warranty period - Samsung does allow that in most cases. The parts he swapped in are under a 60 day warranty.

question for those who Samsung offered to replace their "C" tv with a "D" model - did they also offer to replace their 3d glasses for the 2011 bluetooth glasses as well ?

I did not have any 3d glasses for the un55C8000 model so I did not ask. The un55D8000 model comes with a voucher you can mail in or fill in online and receive 2 pairs of glasses for free. Also they cut the prices of the blue tooth glasses to $49 for the cheapest pair so I picked up 2 pair of them at Best Buy.
