Another question,

Has anyone here successfully resolved the blinking issue with their C8000 through Samsung customer service? I've had one service call for this issue, which of course, resulted in nothing happening since the issue is SO random and inconsistent that when the tech came out to look at it he saw absolutely nothing. It takes looking at the set for hours on end to see it blink every so often. The chances of someone coming out and actually catching a blink are slim to none.

No solution for me either. Still blinks and we haven't had a firmware update for quite sometime that I know of. Last February if I remember right

No that you guys have mentioned this blinking issue I realized that I have seen it happen but it's only while I'm watching Netflix. Not during a bluray or tv so far. Didn't know this was a common issue.

I have annoying "digital noise" and pixelization in dark areas of SD, HD (OTA and cable) and Blu Ray via HDMI. It's like the TV can't handle dark areas where the black levels are slightly different. I've spent quite a bit of time on this thread and can find no mention so far. Is there a term like clouding or flashlighting that I can search on? The only way I can get rid of it is to smash the blacks. I'm trying to figure out if this is to be expected or I need to return the TV.

A friend of mine has a UN55C8000XFXZA and is experiencing this "digital noise" behavior as well as some motion blur but ONLY on some HD channels. 3-D content appears just fine and some HD channels, like CNN HD (channel 202 on DirecTV). However, CBS HD displays the motion blur and "digital noise" significantly.

I'm currently pouring through this thread looking for info but I wanted to post my comments before they got "clouded" by the vast amount of information in this thread.

I don't know which firmware level his TV is running but I would guess he hasn't updated the firmware ever. The LED Motion Plus setting was OFF and trying the other modes of "Normal", "Cinema", and "Ticker" didn't help any and in some cases, made the effect worse. I'll take a look at the AMP "blur" and "judder" settings next to see if they will have any impact.

Considering this doesn't happen with 3-D content and seems to happen ONLY on some HD DirecTV channels, would that indicate a problem with the video source (DirecTV HD broadcast, in this case) or could it be a combination of TV issue video source issue?

Thanks!

Peace...

How do you play m2ts files on c7000

can some1 tell if led c8880 is better or d6600 ? 46inch of former is 1.8k us$-ish and latter is 2.4k us$-ish in the place i live that is
i like the design of c8880 and its quite tempting but i would like to know about PQ and input lag and screen uniformity.
thanks in advance

Comparing the c8000 to a d6000 I would definitely go with the c8000. What country are you in because $2400 US for the c8000 is expensive even in the 55inch version. I got my un55c8000 w/ blu ray player and glasses for $2500 US in 1/2011. The fact that the c8000 is almost 2 years old at this point should lower the price significantly but I guess that all depends on where you live...

It must be the source. I have DirecTV and CBSHD has motion blur and artifacting in sports, but it was the same thing with multiple televisions and on TimeWarner Cable. I also have the UN55C8000.

Does the color space editing work well on this model. It seems from running my i1pro that it's a pretty wide gamut and does not seem to work great.

I replaced the C7000 with a C8000 and the issue pretty much went away. What I've found after looking at other TV's is the viewing angle makes a big difference. With the C7000 if I put a chair dead center in front of the thing it looked pretty good. Going even slightly left/right/up/down would bring in the digital noise. I was watching someone else's Samsung TV and noticed the noise when off to the side. The C8000 still has a pretty narrow "perfect" viewing angle but it just washes the picture out with no noise. I can live with that. I really like my C8000. If I were to do it again I'd go plasma.

New here guys, looking for some help as i have a UN46C8000 with a little display problem. i am not sure where it came from, it might be the screw from the stand that might have went in too far and dented the panel... it doesn't look nowhere near as bad as in the picture, but pretty noticeable on light backgrounds at an angle.. i have a picture below. if anyone can shed some light on my problem i'd appreciate it!

Is the TV mounted on a wall or or its stand? When did it start happening?
it was on the floor for a few days then i put it on a stand, but i didn't notice it untill a few days after i put the stand back on, so my guess is i think when i was screwing the stand it it might of bent the panel.. not sure
post #6254 of 6288
Perhaps the screws on the stand are tighten to much?
i figured that would be it, so I loosened them...
anyone know what it might be?
sorry for the triple post, I am almost 90% sure at this point that it might be the backlight bulb that's gone out in the bottom right corner. when I set the Backlight setting to 0 the problem goes away but the screen is also very dull, as soon as I raise it to 1 the bulb starts to flicker, once I set the setting to 2 the light goes out alltogether.. anyone know how I would go about replacing it?

Thanks for the feedback and sorry about the delay in responding. Life's been keeping me busy.

Something I neglected to mention previously is there is another 50" Samsung HDTV in his house (I don't know the model number, unfortunately but it's not a LED TV but LCD) and the same DirecTV channels which are problematic for his LED TV display crisp and clear on his LCD TV.

So, could it possible be an issue with his satellite receiver? I don't know why I didn't think about swapping the receivers earlier but that might be something worth trying.

Thanks!

Peace...

Thanks for the feedback, especially the part about going with plasma next time around.

The more we try to get his TV to do what he wants, the more problems he's having with it. *sigh*.

Thanks!

Ok, here's the latest issue with my friend's 55" UN55C8000XFXZA. He's got the Samsung wireless adapter so the TV can connect to his wireless network and stream content. We can get it connected to the network ok, but then after some period of time (not sure what yet, maybe having it turned off over night) the wireless network connection information is lost and he has to enter reconfigure the connection to the network. Once he does that, the TV can stream content just fine.

Any ideas on why the TV keeps losing the wireless network connection information? He leaves the Samsung wireless adapter connected to the TV at all times.

Thanks!

Peace...

my c8000 had the same is issue a firmware update fixed it. My d8000 wouldn't save any network info once you turned the power off. I had the get the main motherboard replace to fix the issue. That is two samsung tvs the un46c8000 and un55d8000 I owned with network memory issues, samsung doesn't have the best track record with networking in my opinion.

Great! Thanks for the info! Can we start a firmware update from the TV, itself, or must we download it from the Samsung website manually?

Thanks!

you can try to get a firmware directly from the tv, or just go to samsungs website. The tv is 2 years old so hopefully you can find the latest update.

Thanks again!

Is there a web browser app for the UN46C8000 sets?
To my knowledge there never was a browser offered for this series. I wish there was.

C8000 has a prettier remote but the browser and the QWERTY remote on the D8000 works very well.

I have a C7000 connected to a PC over HDMI and lately I'm finding that even with the Dynamic Contrast feature disabled, the TV performs some sort of dynamic contrast enhancement that seems impossible to disable.

I have a solid black background on Windows and a few icons, and whenever I open or "un-minimize" an explorer window (white), the rest of the screen's brightness is blown up.
The problem seems alleviated as "Shadow detail" is set to higher values, but even at +2 the effect is still visible.

I've observed that the problem only occurs when I send HD resolutions to the TV (ie 720p, 1080i, 1080p). Therefore, it doesn't happen when I send PC resolutions, or set the HDMI input's name to "PC".
Problem is, in PC mode, you lose Auto Motion Plus (which like to use on "Clear"), sharpness controls, and I find the black levels become much more greyish, so treating the input as PC is something I would rather not do.

I have already reset the TV by holding "Exit" for 10 seconds, but that didn't help.

I'll be really grateful if anyone can help me with this.
I'd like to think this can be disabled without losing a bunch of other features in the process.

Much appreciated.

I think when you set the input to PC it treats it like its a gaming screen and turns off most of the other functions so screen/game lag will be reduced. The dynamic contrast you are dealing with is probably a switch within the menus that activates whenever it senses a signal. Try turning on game mode instead of labeling it PC and you might get the best of both worlds by reducing input lag while still retaining some of the screens picture options.
Thanks for the suggestion, but... input lag?
Dynamic contrast is all I'm trying to get rid of (without losing sharpness controls and worsening black levels).

Anyway, I tried game mode and the dynamic contrast thing is still there. :/
Any other suggestions?
Do your TVs do the same thing?
