no no bracing yet, it's only a problem when I crank it for music with the low lows in it. I have so much to do with the van I just don't have time..and I'm considering waiting till I get the 22's and cut out the hole for them 1st so I can get longer 2x4's inside and it's easier to get in and out of the box..and so i dont have to remount the 18's only to pull em out again for the 22's

I must echo what bossobass said... this is definitely one of the most (if not the most) entertaining builds here. Your spousal approval/involvement in this build is a fantasy for most (and second to none)!

I wonder how the "Towers" would sound belting out "Slam" by Pendulum?" Might get you a guest appearance on next week's COPS!

Hey Ryan,
I've been following your build over at HTS; not sure what happened to you over there. I have to admit at first I thought you were crazy, and your build certainly kept me entertained. but after a while, i realized what the hell, if you can do it, why not. all the power to you.

btw nothing vibrates my house like Ludacris - how low

My name is Jordan Powell. I got in trouble on HTS for copying/quoting what Scott of Fi already said in the same thread. He said something to the effect he has a "DAF" for car audio guys. Then he explained what it was.. "Dumb Ass Factor". So I quoted it and made a comment. I was banned for 3 days. I emailed Scott about it, as he and I were emailing quite a bit back then about the IB3 22. He said he heard nothing about it. I PMed Sonnie, and he said Scott got the same talking to that I did. I went back to Scott and said "hey he said he talked to you too! Did you get banned for 3 days?" Scott replied that he still hadn't even heard anything about it.

A while later, some kid made a comment about a fart box. I quoted him talking about a fart box 1 note wonder, and I was banned again. I got in a PM argument with Sonnie about it. I told him it wasn't fair that 2 people now made posts that I QUOTED, did not even originally post, yet I got in trouble, they did not. As a result, kryptonitewhite was permenantly banned.

A year later I decided to make a new account, Ryan Anderson.

A moderator over there Dyohn and I disagreed on some things. It was at the same time I started posting lots of vids because everyone everywhere was loving them. It was the same time I got pulled over and posted the cop video. Dyon never had a problem before, but when I publicly disagreed with him, he sent me 2 PMs. The first was saying it was inappropriate to post the cop video and that it was removed. The second PM said I am only allowed to post 1 video per thread, it takes up too much bandwidth. Why not say "hey, your vids take up too much bandwidth, can you put a space in the links so they aren't really links anymore and people can copy/paste?" Nope. He was butthurt cuz he doesn't know a lot of basics about car audio.

SicAudio and I had to set some things strait on the car audio portion over there. The guy was saying some retarded things, like bass is lost in a car... he was saying cabin gain was actually cabin loss. He even said that when you drive the bass goes out the window.

I kept my cool and politely corrected the info, but Sic flipped when he saw how bad it was and called Dyohn on it. Suddenly 1/2 of the 2 threads were deleted. This was several months before I openly disagreed with Dyon BTW..this was before I even started either build.

So after receiving both PMs, I posted 1 last reply on them and said "see me on the other forums". I clicked "sign out" and haven't been back since. IDK if I even have access after that.

Why would they be concerned with insignificant details like that... they should put their efforts into making the place better..

Does the Denon AVR-2310CI have a HP filter on the subwoofer, a subsonic filter? I am getting more comfortable with the Two Towers now and starting to turn the subwoofer level up more and more on the receiver and watching close for excursion.
Since switching to the receiver/EP4000's from the HT in a box driving the subs, single digit output from movies is GONE. Until now I have been thinking it was the EP4000's, but today I am watching the amp signal lights and where I had single digit output before that is gone now, the lights aren't showing signal either. Same Blu-Ray player, but I think the receiver is filtering 10Hz down!
Hi mate,

No the Denon does not have a hpf but the EP4000 does. It has a switchable 30 and 50hz hpf which is for when you are using pro speakers. Have you touched the switches on the back at all. I take it you are running your subs the same as mine. I have mine on parallel mode because I am using just one mono lead from the onkyo into input 1 only on the EP4000. The reason I have it in parallel mode is because it splits the signal into both outputs. If you are splitting the signal from your denon and going into both inputs on the EP4000 then you should have it in stereo.

Let me know how you are set up.

cheers

I have the filters on the EP4000's disabled. from the sub out on the receiver I have a Y splitter to both EP's, each EP is bridged 8 ohm, 1 per sub, each sub dual 4 ohm in series.

I got Avatar last night, it's now my favorite movie. I can't believe all of the color, all of the detail. My new TV has never looked so good before! DTS HD... gotta love it. The rear channels were mixed so well, I had to look once..I got faked out thinking something, someone was behind me...because it's never sounded that real before. The LFE? Well the jet rocket craft gives the entire house a treat, the robots with every step and jump. But the wings. Every single flap of the wing moves so much air, you actually have wind from the dual 12" ports and dual 18's. The whole house becomes one with everything in it.

At the end, it played this

Astonishing.

If this is too many videos for any of you, please let me know. HTS gets bandwidth eaten up apparently as they aren't just links, they get hosted or something on that refind, mature, sophisticated, prestigious, and delicate little shack over there I can put a space in each link to break it so it can then be copy/pasted instead

Jordan,

I watched Avatar yesterday (not blu ray but a fantastic 720p version) and yes the picture and colour were brilliant, I didn't feel the sound was. I am getting the blu ray on Monday so I will compare between the two but the lfe wasn't great to be honest. Great film though.

cheers

Graham,

Is that a DVD on an upconverting player that you watched?

Hi there,

It was a 720p mkv file played through my laptop onto my pioneer plasma. I have a turtle beach external sound card which supports 5.1. Picture quality is great. Sound is good but all my other 720p films are great for sound. The audio on that is 5.1 and 640 kb/s bitrate so its pretty high. Its 8.5 gig in size.

cheers

Graham,

Sounds like a great set-up! I'll stay tuned to see how you compare the two formats.

I really wish I would have watched that while I was still tuned to 6.5Hz
post #262 of 615
Jordan,

Whilist its great to have it at the full fat 1080p etc... VLC player does struggle to play that film and if I copy it onto a DVDR it compresses it too much and I don't have a blu ray recorder. The other way is to get either a better graphics card or get a western digital media player or popcorn hour which does support mkv formats upto 1080p. They are only about £60. Neat little box with a remote control. All you need is a USB drive and that's it. But then you can buy black hawk down on blu ray here for £8.

cheers

I think you need HDMI to pass 1080P and 25 gigs of it.
