Gives a whole new meaning to the term burn-in...

And yes, everyone is ok.

My gosh... this blurring, double imaging when i move left to right in games, or when somebody is walking u see a trail behind them. and i can see a green trail behind them. My lord when i first got this TV it was perfect. Now its just.. Not anymore. its hurting my eyes and looking ugly. When everything moves in crysis 2 it blurs out and double images HORRIBLY. So much for the "FAST" response time. I'm so upset was looking forward to this set being the one for my girlfriend and i since we are both really hardcore gamers.

The green bluring is phosphor lag, step up to a 3d enabled panel, they have faster phosphors that greatly reduce it. The Larger (58 inch or larger) panels in the 5 series and up are your best bet here.

As for the double images, that is 30fps game judder. Try a 60fps game like one of the Modern Warfare titles, they don't have this problem. LCDs blur the image so much that it hides this judder (or if you enable motion enhancement, it makes new frames to fill in the gaps) Your only hope here is to get a PC that can run the games at 60fps.

I've never had the green issue on this set.

95% of people can't see it at all. 99% can't see it on anything that came out in 2010 or later, and the remaining 1% can barely see any trace of it on the 3D models. It is a complete non issue at this point in my book. (I fell into the final 1%, but I had to really strain to see it on the c450)

If it's a random green light then I've literally only seem it once. It didn't last long enough to fully understand what it is I had seen.

Perhaps you or someone else can advise me...

I have blue pixel clouds on the upper part of the screen just off to the right center, pretty much mostly visible on white backgrounds (but oddly enough not on every white background). On light backgrounds the rest of the screen develops light clouds of what look like blue-ish, greenish pixels spanning the top two-thirds of the screen, but again only on some light backgrounds and not others. I don't seem to have the problem of red pixels on black backgrounds at all. (And I'm grateful to note that my set also isn't a buzzer.)

I was able to find out that my set has firmware 1004. Might there be any advantage to installing something more recent, even if only up to 1006? Or anything other than 1008.2?

Ok, the repair man came this morning to fix my set. He brought the newest firmware with him on a thumbdrive. I told him that the update had ruined some peoples sets (like my first one) , but he said it was designed to fix the red pixels and went ahead with the update....to make a long story short, I now have another ruined set and have to wait over a week for a new panel. He told me that the panels that come from Mexico are the ones that cause the red pixels but that they replace them with non-defective Chinese panels.
I hope this is the last of these problems since I've had nothing but trouble since I got my first one in late Jan.

Installing the newest firmware caused me to get the blue clouding (as well as every other color known to man on the left side). If you're under warranty, don't update but instead set up an appointment for repair.

lol, that sucks. You sat there telling the guy what it would do. Then it does it. Your now sitting there saying. "I told ya so."

My Pn50c450 died today. It has had an issue for a couple weeks now with the right side of the screen with red pixels and now today it has died anyone else experience this?
Ok, so the repair man came yesterday and installed my new 50c450 panel. He showed me on the back of my old panel that it was made in Mexico ( aka the bad ones ) and then showed me that my new panel was made in Korea. It was a fast install of about a half hour so no complaints there.
I have an extended warranty for 4 years so it cost me nothing. Best Buy handled my repair even though I was still well within the 1 year manufacturers warranty. They said they would just bill Samsung directly. He handed me the receipt with the total charges on it....over $1500! I only spent $600 for the tv so I'm sure Samsung wishes they had got it right the first time.

Hello all,
It seems that there are some hardcore people here who take their picture quality very seriously. Could you please share some of your picture settings? And\\or direct me to a page number on this thread if you know it off the top of your head. Thanks!

As always, start with these settings and tweak to your preference.

My warranty is up in June and I got a letter from Samsung giving me the option of extending my plan. It's $200+ for one year or $300+ for 3 more years. I was wondering if I should do it now.

I got the same letter in the mail the other day too. I was considering it but the cost seems high?

I was having some issue with "blue dot clouds" just about 1 month after having the TV. It only would crop up when my kids played the Wii. I never did anything about it. About a month or two after that it seem to go away. May have been coincidental but the Wii was right next to the corner of the TV that was having the issue. I since moved it away from that part of the TV. Also, I had one of my book shelf speakers right next to the TV too. Those may have been causing some kind of interference. They are now placed away from the TV and I haven't had the "blue clouds" since. ???

Had this set since June of last year so I assume that I'll be getting the same letter soon. Kicked myself in hte butt from not getting a Mack warranty at the time and will definitely give their option of the three year extended warranty a looksie.

With the recent "red dots" and issue people are having with this set I do have a question for all you guys out there though. I know almost everyone here swears that the 1008.2 firmware kills this TV (I believe I'm still on 1006.X.) So here is my question, if 1008.2 kills a decent amount of panels, isn't it more likely than not that those that do get killed by the update are either defective or made improperly while those that are not are manufactured correctly? So, even though my set is running fine for me now (and for the past 10 months), wouldn't if behoove me to update to this firmware coming close to my end of warranty? Either its going to work fine and give me a little peace of mind going past warranty that my panel is ok and will last for a while, or, it's going to kill my panel and since it's still under warranty I would get a replacement that would be fine and good working order which, in turn, would give me peace of mind going past warranty?

What does the update do to the tv that kills it? I updated my firmware about 2 weeks ago with 1008 firmware that's on the samsung website and haven't noticed any problems. I was/am reconsidering the warranty now though since people I work with at Walmart say plasmas have a lifespan of 2-3 years. Good question on the warranty, I don't know if spending about $400 on a extended 3 year warranty is worth it or not down the road.

Can someone please check if the sidebars (and top/bottom bars when viewing cinemascope files) are black or gray when playing 4:3/cinemascope video files with the internal media player and having Screen Burn Protection -> Side Bar Grey set to Light?

I don't disagree that extended warranties are a good idea, I do disagree that Walmart personnel know anything about TVs. If it were true, plasmas would no longer be in demand. Case in point, 2 of my 4 plasmas are 3+ years old without any problem whatsoever.

It sounds like your panel IS just fine. Do not upgrade the firmware unless you are having the red blotch problem. If you have the problem, and upgrade the firmware, and your panel dies its because its defective.

My Panel has been replaced with a newer model and would just like to say that Samsung customer service has been great. Don't forget to register one the website and extend warranty for 3 months for free!

I got a letter the other day from Sears saying there was a firmware update for my PN50C450B1D. I was supposedly one of the later serial numbers that would benefit. I was hoping it would help some with the motion blur, so I figured I would update. I forgot the 'if it ain't broke...' principle, plus I didn't check in here first to double check.

Long story short firmware 1008.2 screwed me over. I've got blotchy pixels all over and it gets worse the longer it's on. It seems to have snap-shotted the signal that was currently being displayed when I was doing the update and is now applying some adjustment to the picture that is based on that original signal.

After 3 rounds with Samsung customer support, which was relatively helpful, I've got a 1008.3 coming in the mail on a thumbdrive. It is new enough they couldn't get it to me on their special password only download site.

Anyone have any experience with firmware 1008.3 after having been screwed over by 1008.2. For now I've just got the thing unplugged as I don't want to burn in the blotchy 'adjustment' that is being added to the picture now.

Nope. My screen is toast. They are going to have to replace the panel. In fact, they even were supposedly able to revert back to 1006 and that didn't help. He said 1008.2 made permanent changes to the main board (?) and even the revert didn't help.
