The Official Panasonic G20/25 Owner's Discussion Thread [no price talk] - Page 9

I would definetly lower it. If you put it in THX mode the default contrast is 60 and so far I'm liking the overall colors in THX mode.

What are you owners using to get Internet to your sets?

Is there an official USB wireless adapter from Panasonic, or does anything work?

I believe on the first few pages of this thread there are some wireless recommendations. Right now I'm using an ethernet cable.

wired is the way to go if possible. You could turn a 54g router into a bridge if you had to go wireless.

Frogsmasha,

I like your style! Besides these forums having a lot of technical knowledge...they really know how to work retailers well!

Thanks!

Since I'm a relative newb to this forum, and posted another topic that I doubt will get any replies, I figure I might just ask a question here:

Which TV would you guys rather have as your de-facto HDTV- a Panasonic PZ800u or a Panasonic G20/25?

Thanks in advance for any and all opinions.

my 50" G20 has a slight humming noise when the picture changes from various brightnesses. Is this normal? It's not really loud, but it's noticeable. I think I can could get use to it, but I keep thinking about it.

Is this a normal occurrence with other users?

G20/G25. The only thing better about the PZ800U is the speakers.

Welcome to "bonded color filter" buzz. I warned you guys that this would happen once the third layer of glass was removed. The G20 I have buzzes louder than the S2. However, I would not call either annoying or excessive.

Are you saying the S2 also has the bonded color filter?

thanks....

yeah I don't find it annoying, not like the samsung I had for a month... one of the reasons I went with the Panasonic this time around... The buzz on the Samsung was constant and loud, this one only seems to happen when lots of white are on the screen, and isn't as loud as the Sammy's. so I'm happy with that.

Thanks a ton for the reply, Randy! It's much appreciated!

As for an audible buzz that someone mentioned: you haven't heard anything until you have experienced the Samsung buzz...those TV's are loud

Not seeing the 1.60 firmware update on their website, do you have a link for it?

On a side note, a Trendnet Nplus wifi dongle does not work on the TC-P50G25.

Thanks

How does it compare the Kuros, same, better, worse?
Same

In person, the AR coating on the G20 is slightly grayer compared to my Kuros. It is definitely darker than the 2009 Panasonics (minus the Z1)and handles ambient light very similar to the Kuros.

Actually all the times appear identical here as well. Not sure what to make of it.

Here's my speculation [I have not read the lag thread [yet?]:
I think laptops max out at about 100Hz for refresh rate. Even at that rate, it's 10ms per frame. I don't really know how fast the data can be pumped to the TV, but the bottom line is that while the software clock is busily updating every millisecond (perhaps), the displays are only taking the updates every once in a while. So despite quicker camera shutter response, the numbers on the display are more persistent than they are in the software.

Do you know what the refresh rate is on the laptop (check monitor prefs) and on the plasma?

So are the Z1 AR filter and the VT AR filter one and the same?
I unboxed a 50g20 today and man it looks so much better than the s1 and s2 overall. I can't imagine the VT series.

Amen to that. Saw the G25 next to the 50b860. The 50b860 blacks were darker but G25 handles ambient light better.

I apologize if this has already been answered. But can someone who now owns a Panasonic G20/G25 confirm, if it does indeed have the pro settings included with it's picture settings for 2010?
i can see pro settings in my picture settings but its greyed out

Ah that makes sense. THX also grays out the HD Size setting because the default for this mode is zero overscan and THX forces the TV into HD Size 2, as it should.
