on what kind of content? BD or tv? How many hours do you have?

Does anyone else have flickering on certain parts of static images?

I get very noticeable flickering on the background surrounding the items on the bottom left here at full 1:1 resolution on my computer (which doesn't show up when connecting it to another display with the same cable):

http://eruditass.minus.com/mZtrf28hY

When zooming in/out with Chrome, the effect is much less flickery and more like the plasma grainy noise. The effect is also reduced when lowering the screen brightness.

I tried taking a video but it looked horrible with the rolling shutter.

Does anyone else get flickering on their G20/G25 on those images/websites?

My 50" G20 just suddenly stopped working a couple months ago. It was working the night before and when I turned it on the next day: Nothing. I had a tech come out and tell me to change the P-board, which I have done. I also changed the Sc-board and the A-board. Upon changing all of these I still don't get any picture. I feel like I'm already so invested in it that although I want to give up I simply can't with a clear conscious. I want to figure this out! How can I figure out what exactly is failling? I'm currently getting 10 blinks. I guess the ss board would be next or the su/sd boards but I rather not shoot blind and waste money anymore.

In the tech manual it says there are leds on both the sc and ss boards. I have seen the one on the ss board, sometimes it lights up and sometimes it doesn't. I've never seen the one on the sc board light up. What's next? Panasonic offered no help on this 1.5 yr old set. I find the whole situation ridiculous (buying a 1300 dollar tv that only works a year and a half).

Please help!

I suggest getting as many people as possible to read your post. Starting a new thread will get you there.

Good luck.

My G20 stopped working (10 blinks on the LCD display). Just wondering what the best way to go about fixing the problem. I see that the service manual says it could be multiple issues. Set is less than 2 years old but obviously out of warranty. Do I even deal with Panasonic, try a DIY, or just call a tech?

just got a used g20 50".
Previous owner has named hdmi inputs "HDMI1 (sat tv)" etc.

How do I rename the AV inputs?

PS, I was not aware of the problems with dots. I hope I don't run in to that

Press the Menu button on your remote, then go to the Setup menu (looks like a crescent wrench):

Menu > Setup > Input Labels

You should browse through the user manual to get familiar with your G20. Download here:

Have you tried unplugging it? I had a similar problem with another Panasonic. I can't remember what the count was on the flashing lights, but I thought it was toast. Apparently hooking a pc via hdmi in the back was causing problems. If you use the front input, it doesn't do it. I think the fix was to unplug it.

Hello.
Sorry for my English, I use a online-translator.
There are owners of the European TX-P42G20E model (or TX-P50G20E)?
I hope for your help. Please copy TV settings to the SD-card and send files to me. The instruction in attachment. 1.jpg 144k .jpg file hotel.zip 0k .zip file

Hi guys,

Wondering if someone can help me please? I have a 42" G20 which I got from Costco probably getting on for a couple of years ago. It has all been working fine until recently when it has started to fail to record to USB HDD (I think it's a 2TB WD HDD, but I'd have to check). It seems to record the first 5 minutes or so and then cut off before a program finishes or at random. Has anyone had a similar issue please and if so what did you do to solve it (I have done a search on this forum and google and turned up nothing useful)?

We have two young twin girls who occasionally manage to get hold of the remote (I keep it out of the way on the whole but the missus is not always so good) - I spent a good 15 minutes today trying to turn off Audio Descriptions (which were highly confusing when watching Top Gear!) so there is a possibility that they may have changed a setting!

I am pretty tech savvy so you can be as technical as you like in your reply, but this one has got me stumped! Any help gratefully appreciated (before I wipe my HDD with about 700MB of content on it!)eek.gif

Regards,

Mark

^^^

I know some EU models can record, but I wasn't aware US models could record to USB!

What menu functions allow this and what container formats are used for the resulting video?

I have 2 year old p50g25...and I am planning to ditch the dish and go OTA and streaming.

When I connected the indoor antenna directly to the TV, and ran the autoscan...it couldn't pick up any channels...but when I used the same antenna but connected through an STB its picked channels.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: figured that I set the service provider to cable instead of Antenna ...eek.gif

I've had my 54" G20 since the set was first released on the market. I'd always been pretty confident in the sets resistance to any sort of fade or image retention. The floating blacks were definitely annoying but I started watching TV with the lights on and it stopped being an issue. Decided to pop in an X-Files DVD and watch with the lights out (come on, is there any other way to watch The X-Files?) and all of a sudden I observed in darker scenes that there is a bar line across the bottom of my screen that is noticeably lighter than the rest of the frame. It looks to me like the black bars displayed during widescreen moves have faded or brightened those phosphors more so than the rest of the frame! Its like my phosphors have worn unevenly.

I thought this wasn't an issue with plasmas. I only ever watch one movie at a time and never leave it on pause. Has anyone else noticed this begun to happen? Is there any fix other than turn the lights on or get some other kind of ambient backlighting?
I think with the right backlighting this wouldn't be that noticeable but I'm still angry and frustrated to know this has happened especially since its so obvious. Thought plasma was the right way to go and had finally gotten to the stage where it was durable and had longevity. Grr.

Here are some pictures which I took with my iPhone that show off the problem. Pay close attention to the bottom part of the image and you'll see in a very uniform area where the phosphors appear brighter.

What do you primarily watch or have been watching on this tv? Did you watch a movie just before the X-Files DVD? I ask because it looks like IR to me.
I watched mixed content IMO more full screen than anything else but I definitely do watch a lot of 2.35:1 widescreen blu-rays and DVDs. Before X-Files I watched Life of Pi (full screen) and Californication (full screen) and Law and Order (full screen). Yes it looks similar to image retention but I've been noticing this get progressively worse. If it was IR it should have been gone by now. I'm going to try the IR screen sweeper and maybe a long display of broadcast "snow" but I don't get the feeling this is temporary. Will keep you all posted.
Will you please update once you've done all that?

By any chance did you buy an extended warranty?
That's one of the reasons I have a projector... I try to limit 2.35:1 movies on my plasmas.

Anyone have any idea of how to connect this TV to a computer (to watch content) using an Ethernet cable. Either directly to the computer or to the router computer is connected to.
Dragging a VGA cable and digital sound wire to the computer from the tv all the time is getting old

Thanks

No DLNA on this model (that I know of).

If you really want to use your PC as the "Media Center"  ... there are things like WirelessHD and WHDI (but read reviews ... looks kinda iffy to me).

My suggestion is get a WD-TV-SMP or Roku for around $100 and just use the PC as the file server. This assumes you're just playing ripped files and not actual discs. For playing real discs, you just buy a standalone Blu-Ray player. Now, some Blu-Ray players might have a DLNA app in them, but I don't play with that. I like HTPC and WD-TV (dedicated machines).

I use Plex through Roku. Much easier than DLNA.

Tesla is correct. The Ethernet port on the G20/25 is only used for connecting to the external internet, not your home LAN. So, you can access Panasonic's servers to dload firrmware updates and to run Vieracast applications (e.g. Pandora, Netflix). But there is no support for any kind of filesharing protocol over your local LAN (e.g. DLNA/UPNP or SMB/CIFS).

What I do is attach a WDTV to my G20 to watch media residing on my Synology NAS. You could do the same with a media box of your choice. Check out the iboum website for a comprehensive list of boxes.

I sometimes put my laptop or HTPC next to my G20 and connect using video cable (HDMI for best results). This allows me to fire up a web browser and watch live sports streaming (e.g. Australian Open). If your PC supports HDMI, you might be able to use an HDMI switch (try Monoprice) and run a long segment to the G20/25.

I found that my Sony bluray has DNLA and was able to use after installing Serviio on my computer. All is good now

Hi , was wondering if anyone has run into this if so do you know if it can be fix?
My 3 year old TC-P46G25 plasma in the last month has developed one row of 18 horizon
red, green and blue dots running east to west across the center of the screen.
They sorta sparkle sometimes when the picture changes they disappear.
Only to return.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've seen that on mine since day 1. It usually goes away once the set warms up a bit.

These dots won't go away they only disappear when they blend into the background. I read something about the voltage might need adjusted ?
