My four boxes have been updated. Multi Room Streaming is nice. I've been using it alot lately. It's nice that I don't need to transfer the content anymore to watch it.

There has been some talk about improved performance for OTA signals for the Premieres after the next or a future firmware update? Is this true or just hopefulness on the internet?

Thanks

As far as I can tell, it's just hopefulness. I have a weaker signal on some channels and saw no improvement after the update.

I assume they all have to be Premieres? Can a Premiere stream to a HD?

Newbie question: is there a command to delete the Recording History? I had three titles, then deleted one. It's still showing on the history. I did check the manual, cross my heart.

No idea. I get a rock solid signal at 30 signal strength on my Premieres.

You can't rewrite history. The recording is still listed there because it did in fact record. Deleting has no effect on recording history.

That's sort of my problem. The history is nothing but failed recordings that aren't scheduled any more. I just would like to clean things up. OCD problems.

The old history entries will age out eventually. It would be nice if we could delete the entry for a garbled season pass recording (or one for which the schedule was wrong) so that the TiVo would see that it is missing and reschedule. It would be even nicer if the TiVo would notice that a recording is only partial or had a lot of uncorrected errors and automatically reschedule. Unfortunately the TiVo considers any history entry as an indication that the recording was made successfully. Actually, now that I think about it, I think the TiVo will reschedule a recording that is missed completely, although it may take a while for it to notice.

My two boxes got updated (by special request) more than a week ago, and at first I could not do multi room streaming, but finally I noticed it was working today. Very useful!

Streaming is Premiere to Premiere only, but you can still transfer between S3/HDs and them.

Could someone take a screen photo of the new HD grid view showing the recording (check marks) for both season pass and one shot recording?

These (www.lightdims.com) are useful on the Tivo and other things. I just bought a set and like them ... but the smaller ones are a bit hard to get off their backing without wrinkling .

Thank you for your help. I have a Brother label printer. It makes 1" blanks for every label. I have been collecting those blanks for a while, and when I use a marker on one it helps with the dimming. Also, the labels are not permanent, so I can peel it off anytime with no goo left behind.

My brightest LED problem is more with my cable modem and router. With the TiVo I can turn them off for now. My Pace HD STB has this really bright blue LED when showing HD. It took two labels to make it dim. Thanks again.
Sounds like you're set. Just so you know, the lightdims also are removable without leaving a residue.

I've found it useful to be able to see the Tivo lights. For example you can tell when you're downloading a movie from Amazon. I like waiting after the download before I start watching. Also, I use the suggestion feature, and I can tell at a glance when I'm recording something. I use TivoToGo (and kmttg) and it downloads faster when the Tivo is not recording.

As to you're Pace STB... my ReadyNAS Ultra has a blue LED behind the On/Off button. This LED is bright enough to be used as a navigation beacon from outer space. I'd like to know who thinks these things are a good idea.

Personally I just turn all my lights off. I don't need to see them, I can look at my TV screen.

What is the softwareversion number that includes this? Do you have to do anything to enable it? Haven't seen it on my Premiere yet.

You should get the update that includes the HD banners and guide this weekend. If not, early next week.

Version is 20.2. TiVo indicated that they might complete the roll-out of this new version to all retail Premieres and Elites by the end of the week.

As of yesterday evening I still have one unit that has updated, and two that have not . . .

I don't get a OTA or cable guide. Do all channels show as even numbers? Perhaps this is a cable card function?

I don't know if you mean "even" vs. "odd", or if you mean "whole" numbers?

My OTA channels show up as 4.1, 4.2, 6.1, 6.2, etc.

My Cable channels (with CableCard) all have "whole numbers" like 2, 303, 704, 808, etc.

In the Guide when displaying ALL channels, the OTA and Cable channels are interspersed (spelling?)... Like this: 2, 3, 4, 4.1 ,4.2, 5, 6, 6.1, etc.

I don't know why you don't get the Guide. Did you not give TiVo your device number for the 7-day trial? If you didn't, you probably won't get the new HD-Guide update either, because they won't know that you exist . . .

because tivo doesnt map clear qam channels to the guide without a cable card. you're confusing yourself, although those are "ota" channels, they are sent through your provider via clear qam.

unless you have an antenna hooked up in the antenna input of the tivo, then those are ota channels via the atsc tuner which you should be getting guide data.

They know I exist, since my unit is used and I had to work with them on my Nero subscription deletion. It (Premier) works great, given that there is a learning curve for any device. I expect a cable card to give me whole numbers. Never having OTA or PSIP tables with TiVo, I was just wondering why the screen shot (very nice) has no subchannels. Not important, really. And the screen shot of the guide wasn't so informative, showing no resolution or audio content. I'm still learning to unlearn my DHG displays.

Joe, I think the screenshot several posts back depicted a "Cable Only" installation (could even be from a Premiere Elite). I'll try to take a few "real life" screen pictures from my TV in the next day or two. The only problem is that my one unit that currently has the updated Guide is also attached to my CRT based RPTV which suffers from overscan, so a bit of the Guide info is lost off the edges of the screen. I could get better pictures when one of my other units gets the update.. those are connected to LCD TV's (no overscan issues).

Edit: Still no Guide update on the other two units tonight. As far as the "Resolution" and "Audio" goes... the updated (and the old version) Guide does show "HD" for shows that are in HiDef. I don't know why the Guide in the picture above doesn't. That picture was lifted from the TiVo site, so maybe it was from some preliminary Beta version of the new Guide. The 'Audio" was displayed in the program descriptions in the old version Guide, however for some reason it always said "Stereo" even for shows that actually had 5.1 audio. I don't see the "Audio" information in the updated Guide.. maybe they decided that if they couldn't get it right they could just as well leave it off.

Thanks for the pic Aero1. Looks great!

I appreciate the help. I don't need you to take pictures. When you do get the update, I don't even care if the guide shows technical information. But I would like that technical information shown with the Info button. Even better would be SNR, AGC and Dolby information.

I can't get the cable card until Feb. Cash flow problems. But the Premier is one fine unit. It is quite capable. That implies complicated but only until you learn how it works. Like everything else in life. I didn't think I was buying a toaster.
