That sounds like it...

BUT all Samsung Plasma's I've listened to will buzz from behind or right at the side like in your video. If you can hear that same noise clearly 10-15 ft across the room with your ear centered from top/bottom and left/right on the screen then I would define yours as a buzzer.

Here is my buzzing video. It is probably easiest listening from 4:15 on. Sounds just like yours though.

Just got my exchange from Amazon...buzzer. They unpacked it, plugged it in and turned it on, a minute later they were out the door with the exchange. I guess I'll return this and hope Panasonic's VT25 58" drops in price.

Ok, I am on my second pn63c8000 and I have claimed that neither have been a buzzer. I just watched this video two times and couldnt hear any buzz. There are quite a bit of background noises right now in my house but will watch it again if someone confirms that they hear the buzz on this recording as well.

Thanks

OK, wife didnt notice any buzzing on the first set and then after watching the video she could hear it on the new set and video.

I can hear it only if I stick my ear about two inches from the set about 10 inches left of the lower right corner on the front. She can hear it from 10 foot away with low volume on AVR but not at listening volume.

There are several people in this thread whom have replaced Samsung plasmas with other TVs and had no buzzing from the replacement.

I went through three PN63C7000's before switching to the VT25. Many others in here have done the same/similar. Few if any whom have had buzzers have been able to find non-buzzing Samsungs, which leads me to suspect that the buzz rate with Sammy is very very high.

Yea... A few have went with VT25... I went from a PN58C8000 down to a PN50C8000 to reduce the buzz... (Others say their 50" is a loud buzzer.) I don't recall many (or any) offhand who did a 58" or 63" swap that were much happier though.

I wish there was a scientific, repeatable method that everyone could use to record the Samsung buzzing so we could sent them all into to Samsung... Maybe then they would listen... Or not...

Unfortunately the only camera I had was one with MiniDV tape deck... I tried to record with my Laptop & Audacity, but the PC Mic I have is terrible. I could still make out the noise pretty clearly over the tape deck and you can get a baseline of the tape deck noise when I turned the TV off.

Without the tape deck it would probably be much more pronounced like Nonoyvr's recording

Check out the post right after that one to see final opinions about your video. :-)

I'm thinking about the VT25, but it's so freaking expensive...what to do, what to do...

As rdellar17 noted before, the posts are hinting that smaller sizes are producing less buzz (I've noticed that in posts as well). So it VT25 is too much, you can get one of a smaller size C8000 and see if the buzz is more bearable. It is all in the personal perception and preference in the end (for me it was worth it in the end to shell $600 more for the 65VT25).

Yeah, I just don't want to go that small. I'm wondering if I should attempt another exchange, if Amazon had a warehouse I could go to and get the TV from, instead waiting a week for each exchange, I'd probably be a lot more interested.
My dad can't hear it, my sisters couldn't care less and neither could my mom...it's only me. They don't play video games, and that's where I hear it the worse, and to make matters worse, we're currently moving...talk about horrible timing!

I have the 8000 and the buzz is a pain in the arse, I'm going to get the best buy geek squad out to see if they can fix it, any tips or tricks in the meantime are greatly appreciated

Do the VT25's still buzz? How's the picture quality, is it just as vivid as the Samsung?
I'm looking into white noise type machines (sleep aids), they mask other sounds, such as buzz.

With the Samsung C7000 and C8000 they all buzz. However while the VT can still buzz its far less likely.
The PQ is slightly better on the VT25. The price is the downside.

My PN58C8000 buzzes--I can definitely hear it when I was doing the slideshow break-in; FWIW--it buzzes when the slide appears, but there is no (or hardly any audible) buzz during the transition between slides (guess this makes sense since I reckon there is no signal being sent to the screen during the transition?). The buzz seems louder on certain slides than others (I didn't note which colors produced louder buzzes), and the loudness can vary depending on where you're situated at--in my case, dead center at eye level was the loudest. Needless to say, when playing/watching normal viewing content I can't hear the buzz (other than say, probably a very quiet passage but I haven't tested that out yet).

Does the panel go black in the transition? If it was like mine the panel actually shuts off on full black depending on the setting. (I think Movie mode is the only default setting where the panel doesn't turn off.)

If the panel is turning off that is why it isn't buzzing. (One of the slide show options has a fade transition option. I set mine on that one and the panel didn't turn off between slides... Then it only turns off on the fully black slide.)

This thread discusses the panel turning off on black scenes:

I received my replacement 50c8000 today. The last one had a bit too many vertical lines from an uneven application of the real black filter. The lines are basically invisible now, the set doesn't buzz at all unless you are within 6" of the set. The last set had a buzz that went about 4 feet away from the set, but this one is basically silent. It all sounds good, except there was a minor defect on the set.

There is an insulation strip that goes along the tip of the screen in between the screen and the bezel. Unfortunately, one side of the screen has this seal hanging out a bit. I don't know how that happened, but there it was staring me in the face. I was able to take my finger and push it back up in the space, so it's not on the screen any longer...but I'm a bit concerned about dust getting in there because the seal isn't perfect. Given that the lines are nearly gone on this set and the buzzing is definitely gone, should I just keep it and hope for the best? I think I'm going to keep it, because right now everything looks gorgeous.

OK, I still have the Sammy PN58C8000. I returned the exchange they sent me and I haven't heard anything from them, it's been roughly a week and I'm worried that this set might not be in the return period anymore. The period ended the 18th, but I got the exchange on the 17th and thought I'd get a little time. I didn't have time to call Amazon because I'm moving, and there's a lot of stress currently. You people have any experience with Amazon and returns?

Are there any problems with the VT25 I should be aware about? I've heard about some motion panning problems, infamous rising blacks/floating blacks etc...

Does the Panny have fans? I've heard some people state that the VT25 does and others said that it doesn't.

Any suggestions of good places to buy the VT25?

I'm going to try to return my PN58C500 to BB tomorrow after only owning it for 3 days because of the dreaded BUZZ!!!! I really hate it to because the picture is amazing on it. If I sit inline with the tv you can hear it over my surround sound during quiet scenes or voice scenes. My couch is 12 ft away and at my compuer which is on the opposite wall 25ft you can still hear it. Is the buzz just on the Samsung Plasma's or do there LCD's have a buzzing issue aswell. I'm going to try to swap it for a Samsung Model: LN55C630K1F LCD

I wouldn't get an LCD, they lack the punch and uniformity of a plasma, also the off angle is horrible. I had uniformity problems with my LN52A650 so Samsung exchanged it with the LN55C630...horrible. Get a plasma such as the LG 60PK950, if you don't play games, or Panasonic VT25.

just purchased a 50c550 yesterday from Best Buy and got the buzz...going to return it for the panasonic S2...the buzz/high pitched hum is unbearable. i can even hear it over any programs i watch

I exchanged my buzzing pn50c7000 for another from Amazon (first one had build date of June-2010, new one is April-2010) and it seems like the buzzing is reduced significantly but still present. The annoying part is if you know it's there you can't stop listening to it. The original one the Samsung tech claimed was a faulty power supply and suggested exchanging it rather than trying to fix.

I will probably keep the new set since the picture really is fantastic and the price is hard to beat, it's just annoying that you have to make these trade-offs or shell out an extra $1k for a Panny of equivalent size.

My 2009 Panny (54" G10) buzzes as well but I can't hear it past a foot or 2. Nothing at all like the Samsung.

Oh, and the Pilot delivery guys claimed they've never heard anyone ever hear any buzz... I find that very very hard to believe.

Samsung said the same thing to me. The tech stated "most people can't hear it" and comments like "well, no one else can" or "everyone else does" always rub me the wrong way. I CAN hear it, which makes your anecdotal comment utterly irrelevant and somewhat insulting.

A different service company is coming out next Tuesday since the last tech said he couldn't do anything, so we'll see how that goes...

Coming from a sammy 5084 buzzer I can say this, its true that the panasonics have their faults but buzzing is something that is present constantly. I can hear the buzzing in the youtube vid, great job on that btw rdeller17, for those who can't hear it perhaps turn up the volume on your speakers? I can also hear the whinning of incandecent bulbs, as an audio nut, these things matter to me.

I have several recommendations for the buzzing as I was able to lessen my buzz to a great degree. First try a different outlet on a different circuit, change the power cable and add the chokes. If that fails, try tightening the screws on the vesa mounts on the back of the tv. I have mine wall mounted.

Due to various quality issues, huge amount of dancing pixels visible on black background (boards were replaced), green line on one hdmi input, and buzzing, I decided my next tv will be a vt25. btw bestbuy is running a promo, not advertised, for the 58vt25 w/ ultimate pack and bdt107 for under 2800, don't mean to break the rules but it seems like a darn good deal for anyone who can still return their buzzers.

I have a PN58C590 and it's quiet, had it since 7/10. If I put my head right up to the TV I can hear some slight humming, but I have never owned a TV that was completely silent. If I get more than 1 foot away from it I cannot hear anything. My stereo on mute makes more noise than the TV. Has a bad ass picture too! I sit about 11ft back from it. This TV has a way better picture than our 62" DLP Toshiba. Would highly recommend this set, have over 300 hrs on it as of a couple weeks ago when I was farting around in the service menu.
Went ahead and mounted the tv to the wall using a ultra slim mount. I also changed out the cables for newer ones that were a bit thinner for ease of mounting. I tried plugging directly into the wall and using a power conditioner. The buzzing is much worse when mounted on the wall. Now it's not even localized, you can sit in any position and can hear it consistently over normal listening volume (around 5-7 on volume) and 17ft away. Also gets worse on changing screen brightness.

After currently having a Samsung LED, I am unhappy with the picture and off-angle viewing, so I have decided to switch over to Plasma. I have narrowed it down to the PN58C8000, but am now reading about this horrible buzzing problem. Is this a common problem with all build dates, or has it been currently in recent build dates? A clean power unit or voltage regulator won't help cure this issue?
