Just heard the guy on ShopNBC say watching 3D on a smaller set would be like watching a flea circus. And yeah, I ordered the 82373 Mits tonight. Should be here on 4/6 and we're really looking forward to it.

i saw 3d on a 82" dlp at frys yesterday and was watching monsters vs aliens using the nvidia glasses and it looked so horrible to me. made the background of the movie seem to have a lot of loss of image quality and out of focus. very disappointing to me and this is just my opinion and best to everyone who likes it. i also saw the 3d for a second time on the samsung and it seemed better this time but i know 3d is now not for me. both sets seem to not do 3d completely, its whatever is in focus gets the affect and everything else is still 2d. it seemed very similar to playing the new super mario brothers on the nintendos handheld

Hmm, Im thinking that mattkillahd might be miss informed a bit (correct me if im wrong) but there is no way to currently watch 3d blu ray on a dlp set(so how could you have seen monster vs aliens in 3d unless it was anaglyph). Are we all not waiting for power dvd 10 update and or mits 3dc-1000 converter for a stand alone 3d bd player or cable box. My understanding was that nvidia 3d vision was for games and the yet to be released 3dtv play was software for the new full 3dtv standard. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Lee any comments on this?

Yeah I don't see how MvA could have been in 3d on a mitsubishi dlp without the converter. At least not the 3d bluray disk. Maybe they were doing something else at Fry's....

I tend to agree that size (combined with viewing distance) really does matter for 3D viewing. In a living room with typical 10 to 12 ft. viewing distance the 55" Samsung is way too small (based on what I've seen at Best Buy when viewing the Samsung in action). You would need to be within 6 ft. with that 55" size screen. For the more typical 10 ft. to 12 ft. viewing distance you really need 70+ inch screen size (probably around 100" would be ideal) to get the "window on the world" experience with 3D (like in the theater) rather then the experience of looking thru a window of a display case at a set of animated miniature people, sets, etc.

Do you know what the source of the 3D was? The Mits 3D DLP HDTVs are not compatible with the current Blu-ray 3D stardard for the type of signal format used for 3D. Mits has announced they will have an adapter available in June that will accept the output from Blu-ray 3D players, but since those adapters are not yet available its really not clear what 3D source Fry's could have been using for the demo you saw. There has been at least one report (discusssion HERE) that the Panasonic Blu-ray 3D player does have a menu item for the output format that perhaps allows it to support the unique checkerboard format used by the Mits DLP rear projection TVs (PRTVs), but this capability has not yet been confirmed. As for the resolution of the Mits 3D RPTVs, remember they operate with 1/2 horizontal resolution when in 3D mode (i.e., 1080 vertical by 960 horizontal pixels) so it will not be able to display the fine image details of a full 1080p resolution 3D display.

Yes, they are both listed as "3D-Ready" on the Mits site.

i watch 3d on my 65 mit. the tv is my computer monitor. i use a high end pc and nvidia hardware. i am very impressed with this tech- i feel that the pop out is superior to theater 3d in pc games that are made for 3d. There is zero ghosting on this hardware. i dont like playing games anymore unless they are in 3d- its really a game changer.

I was not that impressed with the 3d tv masters broadcast. it was 3d and had added depth- but i saw zero pop out. i used the stereoscopic player and streamed the broadcast over the internet.

if you are wanting to game on a consule no point in going with the new 1.4a hdmi spec 3d tvs -they can only game at 720p- not much better than the halved 1080p the mits use. Same goes for the pc gaming on the new 1.4a hidmi 3d specs- only 720p for now!

we shall see how the new tv's compare in the BD department. i went to the local frys to see them in person- and was not impressed at all. not enough to want to replace my Mit. with a hdmi 1.4a 3d tv and a true 1080 3d image. The new 3d tv standards are really only better in the BD formats compaired to the older 1.3 Mits.

im mostly a computer gamer- so for now ill stick with the mit- i am eagerly awaiting a true 1080p 3d projector for a huge screen and true 1080p 3d pc gaming.

here is a pic of my system

I have a Mits WD=73737 hooked to my pc with a Nvidia 285 GTX card and the Nvision glasses and 3D emitter. It looks amazing to me. I love using the stereoscopic player and adjusting the parallax to make old 2D movies 3D on the fly as I watch them. Watched Batman Begins, Star Trek 2009, and the Patriot all in 1080p 3D this way and they all looked amazing.
3D gaming is also cool, COD MW2 looks so cool, when you look down your site, the site sticks out of the screen in front of you making it truely look like you are looking down the site.
