The 3DC-1000 converter box is a 3D format converter designed primarily for 120Hz DLP 3D ready RPTVs. It changes all 3D formats to checkerboard. That's all it does.
You have seen/heard of the feature on the Samsung 3DTV's that does 2D to 3D on the fly conversion. The Panasonic 3DTVs don't have that feature.
If a 2D to 3D on the fly STB/processor were offerred for sale, depending on it's specs, it could just do conversions. It could also act as a 3D format conveter too. Does something like that exist today? AFAIK, no.
