Core i7 860 vs 930

Is it worth it to get the 930 over the 860? The 860 is cheaper and the Socket 1156 motherboards seem to also be a little cheaper. It also uses less power. It will NOT be used as a HTPC, its primary function will be to transcode video files and to feed an XBox 360 extender.

If you want lots of *true* PCI Express 2.0 lanes (for multiple GPUs, USB 3.0, SATA 6Gbps), 930 is the way to go. Otherwise 860 is good and runs cooler.

The number of PCI Express 2.0 lanes with full bandwidth:

- LGA 1366: 36 lanes
- LGA 1156: 16 lanes
