Maybe the wrong topic to post here but ... Finally I have my system that I've worked hard for. I know I still need a sub & center speaker but for now Im finished. Heres what I have. LG Plasma 50" TV, Scientific Atlanta HD cable DVR box, Marantz SR8002 receiver, Marantz CC40003 CD player, Sony S360 Blu-Ray player, Monster Power HDP 1800 surge protector, 360 X-Box Modern Warfare 250 gig edition, Polk Audio RTiA3 fronts & Polk Audio RTiA1's rear. Wow now It will be another 4 days till I get this hooked up so its killing me as Im having the Geek Squad do this for me as I want it done right. I just had to post this as it has been a long time since I last up-graded. 1997 HK AVR85 HK FL8350 CD player, Tandberg 3014 cassette deck with some Polk Audio RT1000p speakers. Back in the day they sounded great too so I can only imangine how good everything is going to sound

Good for you, sounds like its a good start. Whenever you are able to get that center and sub you will have assembles a very good system you should be proud of.

Looks like you are in the same boat as me -- waiting for the CSI A4 or A6 to go on sale again somewhere...

No offense, but if I want something set up right I do it. I have talked to geek squad people before, and I am not impressed with their skills.

I would also not want to be like my mom or dad who call me when they have technical issues, because they don't even want to learn basics.

If you hook it up yourself, at least you will learn how it all works in case something goes wrong. I understand that some people don't have the patience or interest in electronics and computers to learn this stuff though.

I would second doing the install yourself. I mean the geeksquad people are more knowledgeable than your average consumer, but with a little researching and question asking on these forums and you will be able to do a better job than them. Plus there is the satisfaction of doing it yourself and really knowing whats going on with your system.

Did you try looking at the Polk E-Bay store? They have a good selection of Polks there on sale all the time. As for doing it yourself, if you are able, do it, if not watch them closely and learn as much as you can. You can still come here and ask questions if needed. Also may want to invest in a Harmony Remote as soon as you can.

I definately wouldnt let the GEEK squad set it up either.You'll do a better job than they will.Because you'll take your time and do it right(help here if need be)Its not hard.They'll just try to set it up as fast as they can without caring how it comes out.

I have to agree. those guys know little more than most people about setting equipment up. I'll bet if you start setting it up this evening and start asking questions on the forum you can get it running tonight. Where do you live? there may be someone in your neighborhood who could help you.

It's hit or miss with Geek Squad. I have seen really bad installations, but I have seen quite a few correct installations as well.

Probably just depends on which "geek" you get as an installer.

Well for the most part everyone here is right as I did get the system all hooked up...Awesome unbelievable sound as I should have invested in a good home system much sooner. Now the real problem that I think I will still need to relay on the Geek Squad & that is to program my remotes properly as I don't think I have the patience. Im also waiting for my Sennheiser Pro 280 headphones to arrive. Now if I can just figure out how to insert a picture I will..

You say remotes? save your money and get a Harmony. It will do everything for you and you program it from your pc. Easy as it gets. One button to use whatever source you want.

Yes I've heard they were good as I want to stick with what came with my system for now. I've made leaps & bounds ahead of what I just had as my head is spinning & it's far beyond what I could ever comprehend when looking at pictures of other system on the forum here. Anyhow I keep getting an error with trying to up load my picture on here so I will have to wait to post it I guess

So you're gonna pay Geek Squad how much to set up your remotes for you? And what happens when you need to make a change later on? I say do it yourself. Save yourself some money and learn how to do it well at the same time. Its not too hard and you'll have lots of help here.
