Wires Under Concrete Slab

I'm about to rock my basement HT. The projector is going to be floor-mounted (in a coffee-table type thing). The floor is the 4" thick basement slab (not finished yet). I need to get AC power and video signals from my media rack to the location of the projector. Any tips/tricks for making channel in the concrete and burying some conduit to go from the media rack to the ultimate destination of the projector???

Thanks in Advance,

Warren Briggs

Here is a link with a few pix of the work in progress. Using the SoundCor roll for sound insulation along with the Ultra-Touch cotton fiber insulation. It's amazing what a difference it makes in the sound going up to the first floor with just the batts up (no rock yet!)

Hello.

I used 4" PVC (drainage) pipe. I chose large elbows to bring the opening flush with the floor. I ran the pipe from the rack at the back of the room to the center of front, and added a 'T' under the coffee table in the middle of the room to accomodate local sources (Laptop, Game Consoles, Hardwired Remote, etc).

Cheers

Ryan.

Use an old circular saw with a masonry blade set to about 1 inch depth. Use a 1x4 for a guide. Make 3 cuts 1/8th inch apart then chip out the rest with a chisel. I would bring in the power on one side and the AV feed from the other. I would run it in this stuff so that the wires don't get nicked this stuff Then carpet over the top. Menards and home depot have it. It is the decrative conduit that you would leave exposed. This is easier then busting out the concrete putting in a piece of PVC then patching it. One thing though buy cutting in a channel you are letting the concrete know that this is the spot you want it to crack. You just created a relief cut. But it would do the same thing if you busted the concrete out. Retro fit is a pain.

Was this a retrofit or done before the slab was down? If a retrofit, how did you get the channel (good old fashioned jack-hammering???) How long is the run mediarack to projection (I'm looking at about 15')

Thanks,
