I have no brand loyalty really, but when all things are pretty much equal, it can help a decision. The only thing I may regret about not getting the Onkyo is the VGA input. I'll probably never need it, but something about VGA inputs make me feel warm and fuzzy knowing it's there just in case.
I too ordered from powersellernyc for $459.98 shipped. I called a couple agents at J&R and couldn't sway them into the $449 price.
One thing to be aware of - powersellernyc is not a Pioneer authorized online store so the warranty will be voided. You may want to go with J&R (or someone else form the list - apparently Abt is doing deals if you call) for the piece-of-mind. Just my $0.02 worth.
Here is the link to the authorized internet stores:Pioneer Authorized Internet Stores
EDIT: I ended up buying he 608 (apparently being delivered to me today or tomorrow!) - I liked the VGA input (good for many things including internet radio, Pandora, etc.), the crazy-cheap price I got through an authorized seller, and the 2 year warranty.
