Use these basic patterns
with the AVS disc. It'll get you 90% of the way there. Did you download the Patterns Manual pdf?
I haven't downloaded the .pdf, but now I have and will read up on some of these tests on the AVS disc.
I do have a few questions though regarding my set:
1: I have noticed a sort of...hiccup I guess once in a while. Almost like a lag spike, or a "glitch" for a lack of a better term. It only lasts a quarter of a second or so...but I wanted to make sure it wasn't a problem with my TV. Is this normal?
2: I'm having trouble identifying what good "black levels" are, since I've only watched TV on old CRT type TV's. Last night, we watched The Black Knight on BluRay, and while the picture was amazing, I wasn't sure if I had good black levels or not. For example, at times, the night sky almost looked purple...but I'm not sure if that's the intention of the film, or if maybe my blacks are off and it's washing them out.
3: I've been messing around with the 120hz auto motion setting, and have found a good custom level that I like. But I'm worried that using this all the time could wear my TV out quicker. Is there any truth to this?
4: And finally...for some reason, whenever I change input sources on my TV, in the upper corner it says 1920x1080 @60hz...but from my understanding, the TV should be 120hz. What's the deal with that?
Thanks for any help in advance
