Could someone post the picture mode setting they are using for the TX-P50VT25 and the settings for contrast, brightness, color, tint and sharpness.

Thanks for the update. Also thanks for your remarks about the stunning performance. It will be a couple more weeks before I see my 58VT. I did get the player and extra glasses. The only reason I splurged is, I had to lease (sell for this year) my Redskins season tickets. I figured if I was going to let them go, I wanted my money's worth. Maybe I will get to see a game or two in 3D, and it will be like in my seats.

I finally tried to watch a 3D movie on my VT25 today.

I don't have a 3d Blu-Ray player, so I got an OnDemand 3D movie from Comcast, but I couln't get it to work correctly. I tried every permutation in the 3D settings menu.

The best I could do was when I switched the mode from Auto to either side/side or top/bottom, it went from looking 2D to semi-3D. I could tell 3D had turned on, but the images were too far apart. There was a little 3D to it, but red and green images were still evident. Worse yet, I'd see an image on part of the screen an the same on all the way on the other side (not just overlapping each other). Also, things looked like they merged into each other rather than being in front/ in back of each other.

I can't tell if something's wrong with my TV, the glasses or settings. Since I've tried just about every combination of settings, I don't think it's that.

Any help would be appreciated.

Frank,

Ooof. I would have felt better if you had the demo disc that came with the Panasonic BD player.

Hard to tell where the problem lies. Is the OnDemand 3D movie catered for the new technology or the old cardboard glasses? Perhaps 3D is 3D and what is being broadcast should work with both technologies. I don't know enough about this to tell.

I can say this -- without an official demo disc or 3D Blu-ray release you can't put the blame on the display.

It sure would help to have a 3D Blu-Ray player to troubleshoot, that's for sure. But I would have thought that any 3D broadcast would have worked. In this case, the movie was Final Destination 3D and unfortunately, it's the only 3D movie being offered by Comcast at the moment.

Are you sure it was/is a Full HD 3D presentation by Comcast? I have Comcast and other than the Masters 3D, which was excellent, I have not seen any other announcements. The movie you were trying to see may have been a analog 3D movie. They have been on TV in the past. You said you saw red and green images. If you have an old pair of 3D glasses laying around, use those and see what happens. Just a guess.

That one uses the old 3d glasses. I do not believe any provider offers anything 3d at this point.
A baseball game or two on the yes network and the world cup will be the first true content to watch going forward. The masters as Jimmy said was on last month

Exactly. A quick Google search will show that they've been offering that movie for over four months and it's the old school 3D that can display on any regular Television and a pair of the cheap filter glasses.

Okay, so we established the fact that as of this date there is no content being broadcast that supports the new 3D standard.

Fortunately, pending on your provider, that should all change over the next few months starting with DirecTV (June) and going thru Verizon Fios (Q4).

When it comes to 2010 plasmas, there is literally no better alternative other than just not making a purchase. I will not buy another LCD.

Hopefully you will be happy overall! Seems like your senstitivity to this issue to same or close to mine, so I would very much appreciate your feedback on it. Please provide some as soon as you get the unit. Also please do comment on the general PQ, IR, flicker (if any), etc. You are right about choosing the least of all evils. There does not seem to be any model this year which is devoid of any issues. I have a high end LCD where I see some motion artifacts and I need to decide if going to plasma is going to be a overall enjoyable experience or if I just will be trading for a different set of problems.

A man named Frank has been posting his own 3d video that he has made in the 3d section on the site.
I for one can not wait to see it, but I wont have my tv for another week or so.
You guys that have it already check it out!!
You can just hook the pc to the tv to view it

Has anyone been able to test out 3D gaming yet? I'm very curious about multiplayer privacy gaming. Where one player wears the glasses and sees one image, while the other player wears his glasses and sees a completely different image. One person uses the "left eye" field while the other uses the "right eye" field. Total game privacy when 2 people are playing.

ditto, out of the box THX settings with normal color mode look great, but any recommendations to dial in my new 58vt25 would be much appreciated. THX

Hi everyone! Can someone please help me? I might go to Korea in a year or maybe less, and I purchased a 58" VT25. Does anyone know if these TVs have a high resale value? Thanks for reading my post.

No piece of consumer electronics has a "high resale value". You might find some sucker on Craigslist who will give you a decent price on a used TV but whatever is available in 12 months time will likely be better AND cheaper than the VT25.
Assuming you have ordered a 58 and not recvd it yet, put it on ebay or "for sale add" as still in the box for 30% off retail. That equals reported EPP price. If you actually have the 58, unboxed and used but you want to get rid of it within a few months or so, may get 65% to 75% of what you paid. If it is next year, try going to a furniture/TV rental company like ABC, they might buy it from you for a reasonable amount. They will re-coupe any amount paid and then some. No matter what you do, you are going to take a loss.

.0004!

Either these guys or someone else has measured this panel wrong or they have done something in the newer production runs because that is a remarkable black level.

Perhaps it has to do with firmware and or equipment used. My brother has another firmware on his VT20 (European edition) and he has noticeable better black levels with the same settings and same hardware (DMP-BDT300, PS3, Xbox 360 and HD cable stb). I have firmware v2.100 and he has v2.103. That bunch of mofo's over at Panasonic just won't put that or higher firmware online.

Well, certainly you are getting into such low black levels that the type of meter being used, and how well calibrated it is, not to mention how carefully the measurement is taken all comes into play.

If history repeats itself the 58 and 65 panels will have slightly lower black levels than the 50 and 54.

Also, if the black level rise follows the same pattern as last year then the larger sets will only see about a doubling of original black level, which means that even after doubling you will still have black levels on par with earlier Kuro tech.

EGGS-actly. I'm using a (non-Panasonic) plasma that also has visible "bleed" on the MPAA green screens (most of them, they all aren't exactly the same shade of green, some are brighter, some are darker, some drift a little towards yellow, some drift towards cyan). I've never detected bleed during a movie. I mean, they may use green screen for SFX production, but you don't see scenes in movies with solid bright green and a little detail here and there. Since you don't see bleed with blue MPAA screens or gray screens (haven't seen an all-red MPAA screen or some similar test pattern), you don't see bleed at times when it might be an issue (like a boxing ring).

Thank you for an incredibly detailed reply!

But what about watching tv? I have use the TV for both. I realize that during movies it will probably not be as apparent, but not sure about tv watching.

Has anyone setup Skype yet? What cameras are compatible, trying to find a cheaper alternative to the Panasonic brand they recommend?

I know someone claimed with a samsung firmware uprade it went from .026 to .016,did not know that blacks could get better with firmware updates..I hope they release the updated firmwares in the usa.

They were unclear if the glasses come with the 58. They said the 50 yes, 54 no, 65 yes, and unsure of 58? I just figure I'll wait and see what is in the box when it comes.

what coupon rewardszone usps moving or something else in addition?
