Anyone try and watch any of the 3D videos on YouTube through VieraCast on my tcp58VT25? Turned 3D on and then logged into my YouTube account and when the videos came up they would not work with my glasses. What's up?

I went to Future Shop and used their calibration services which costs 299 but very good difference. He also suggested some of settings prescribed in this forum may actually damage the TV faster and run hotter.

2. Easier route is to try Future shop's ISF calibration service. Talk to the guy first and see if he can do all ports for a fixed fees.

3. Check ISF site for people in your area.

4. I had one of Monster's super Disc which had THX setting but its not that good simply because there are a lot of things naked human eye cannot see in setting.

5. You have to manually set up for all ports. Laptop and PS3 should ideally not be same port as output quality is quiet different. You should use one dedicated port for PS3 because you will also use it for watching 3D.

6. I bought the apple TV but there is one from Western DIgital as well.

7.I am nit sure connecting HDD to USB port will work as there has to be a media player built in TV to run content off HDD.

BTW, this is my first plasma as well and I moved over from Sony. ENjoy your TV its a great TV.

Thanks for your answers to my questions. I am enjoying my TV very much ...I think it is the BEST TV one can buy today. Regarding the Futureshop / Bestbuy calibrators, I am a bit skeptical as you never know who will show up at your door and how qualified they are...you don't think that the Futureshop guy telling you that using settings in this forum will "damage" the TV as a way of selling his stores services...anywya the bottom line for you is that you are happy with the end result.

When I connect different devices to a one hdmi port, I can always use different picture modes to compensate for their differences...no? Any changes made to the service menu will apply to the whole TV.

Are you from Toronto? I am in Vancouver...are you a Leaf fan......if you are I won't hold it against you...I am a HABS FAN.

I asked about connecting a hard drive via USB to my vt25 so it can be used as a PVR... a couple of people responded and did not think it could work.

Just to show I am not out to lunch / coming up with things out of the blue; this is a review where I read it:

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.p...&id=1274347515

They show how to record to a hard drive and a TV guide etc.....again not sure if this is a feature not available in North America.

I tried to hook it up myself, but it did not work. I would be interested to know others thoughts / experiences.

Is it possible that the user guide don't tell to do that at all? I don't even own one. jimsplace must have read someone's suggestion to do a break in by running slides for X hours.

It sure does not hurt to do that but it's a waste of time and electricity I think for what it really gives if you do a before/after comparison.

Using to TV normally for the same amount of time would give near identical results...

regarding break in, Before my TV was delivered, I called both Panasonic USA and Canada. The Americans told me to do a break in which involved watching full screen TV for 100 hours in THX mode with brightness at 50% or so. Panasonic Canada said because of the advances in their technology that no break break-in is required at all...THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT. I read about the break in slides in the link provided to you. To be safe I used a combination of the 2 procedures for the 1st 100-150 hrs. There it is recommended to run the slides for 100 hrs straight.... I could not convince my wife to do that so I ran them at night and when we were out. I also sort of did not want to do that my self as I would have missed watching the beginning of hockey season.

Anyway I guess it is a personal preference, but I am planing on keeping this TV for a long time and want to get the most of this amazing TV. I am know trying to figure out the best way to calibrate the picture.

If you're asking me, I have no idea. Like I said, I don't have the USB wireless adapter and I don't have much desire to do the streaming you mention anyway. Sorry I'm not much help on this.

Directv will not guaranty a 3D capable replacement for a HR20-xxx STB, no matter who you talk to or how much you complain. They told me that they cannot specify a certain model STB, and that they come out of the warehouse according to whatever they have in stock.

I was also told that "eventually" I might get a 3D capable STB, and it seems that they prefer to keep sending them over and over again (FedEx must love DTV!). A CSR "suggested" that I buy a HR24-xxx from Amazon or a local retailer, but, as we all know, you don't actually "own" the one you buy, it is actually a "down payment" on a lease.

I have been a DTV customer since 1996, and am frustrated beyond belief. Adding insult to injury: While the CSR was checking on this issue with a supervisor (whom they won't let you talk to), an ad came on the phone touting Directv's 3d capabilities and how awesome it is!

It took seven deliveries and 7.5 hours on the phone with DTV before my 3D capable HR2X arrived as my HR20 replacement. "Frustrating" is an understatement, but I tried to remain calm through-out the process so I could "help" DTV fix the glitch in their system. Thank you Tums & Prilosec for helping me through it all.

if i play it trough my computer (connected via HDMI to TV ) will i still get 3d effect?

I'm streaming 3D MKVs stored on my ReadyNAS and streaming through my Netgear 9150 to my VT25 with no problem. The only thing I've seen is that the 'auto' setting on the TV to detect the 3D recording mode (side by side or vertical) does not auto detect. However, if I switch it to side by side (or however the movie was recorded) it works perfectly.

I recently contacted D-TV to do a full infrastructure upgrade of their equipment. I had HR21-700 / 100 boxes and asked for the 24 series. I was told what everyone else is told. They can't guarantee it. However, after a few nice requests and no demands from me, they agreed to mark a preferred request on the work order. When the installer showed up, he had 2 - 24 series boxes for me. He said they are in short supply and they tend to hold them for NEW customers as opposed to existing replacements.

As I say many times in these forums, you often can get what you are looking for if you consider your approach, how you ask and how you interact with the CSRs.

Is it normal for these tvs to have like 25 hours on them (as listed in the service menu), from a factory-sealed box?
Maybe, manufacturers may spot check televisions during production.

I'm pretty sure mine had zero hours. I didn't check it on delivery, or even the first week. But when I finally got around to it, it had 30 hours, and that is about what I estimated it should have had at that point.

How do you check the hours on a VT25 plasma?
So after only two weeks of trying out my new 65" vt25, I finally called best buy's geek squad to tell them to come out and check out my tv because I'm unhappy with it. Noticed since day one that when bright screens are displayed I can hear the thing buzzing from 12 feet away while sitting in my recliner as long as my surround sound volume is at moderate to low levels. I had read that they can buzz but should only be heard when your head is behind the tv which is okay but this is very loud and very frustrating.

Also, it seems that the picture isn't very smooth during fast motion scenes. I had my wife sit down with me and I showed her some different scenes randomly and asked her to see if she saw anything wrong. She pointed out the buzzing (before I even told her it had a buzzing issue) and she pointed out that while watching football and watching Iron Man 2 on bluray that during fast scenes it didn't look very smooth and was kind of blurry/shaky/jerky...

The lady from geek squad said that if something is found to be wrong then they can order replacement parts and so I told her she will be ordering a new tv instead because I will be returning this one since I am within the 30 days.

I'll give this tv one more shot and then I guess I will figure out my options as far as other tvs and such... I'm very disappointed that I have to do this because the picture is absolutely AMAZING but only when things are very still on the screen.

And by the way, the tv was broken in with slides for 110 hours and then calibrated as per D-Nice's settings so everything was done exactly as recommended.

Signed,
An Unhappy Customer

Does anyone know where to get the firmware upgrade files for a Canadian TC-P58VT25? I intsalled the USA Version 3.00 (file: SDDL.SEC) on my TV and now the Viera Cast Function does not work! Am also looking to get the DY-WL10K adapter; would that solve my problem? Also, does anyone know the diference between the DY-WL10K and just the DY-WL10.....is there a difference?

Regarding Kuro, there is a lot more to a Kuro than its MLL

You think the color banding issue what I'm seeing on a S2? In certain shades of gray, I see almost a rainbow effect. It's not glaring, and hard to see unless I look for it, as well as only being in a small portion of the area. It goes away when I pause, and Ive seen it on Directv and TiVo OTA. Not seen it on BR.
my 54VT25 is doing the same on my ps3, but direct tv, xbox 360 all look great the rainbow effect mainly happens when ps3 first turns on and when you switch to downloaded movie or tv show, or when the screen goes black right before it switches to the tv show that I have downloaded. I wonder if this has anything to do with the 24p mode, which cnet said in their review 24p mode shows some artifacting.

how do you access the service menu on the VT25s? I've searched everywhere and can't find the "codes". Thanks.

Any tips on getting the vt25 online through a hardline connection? I am stuck on the last step during the connection test. Panasonic had me call Netgear to open ports 80,443, and 48705. I called them and we supposedly opened those up but I'm still getting the error. Haven't called Panny back yet - am I missing something easy here?

From what I understand the Manager explained to me that the other store had that sale price as a ploy to get folks into the newly opened store. So I don't understand where the typo came in? I had called the York store and they confirmed the price and then I went to my local store who confirmed that price too. They gave me that price and then also did the same for the Bluray player and the 3d essentials package.

Bottom line is I did get a great deal on all three items.

(Almost as good as the one I just got for the new Denon AVR-4311CI)

Have you applied the latest firmware upgrade?

I had a similar issue. The VT25 would see the wireless dongle and complete the connection test OK but would fail to connect when I selected Viera cast. Panny 2nd level support had me reset the TV twice and I finally got a connection.
