Just a quick note, Modia up to this point has been great. If anyone is looking for specifics please PM me.

Congrats on your new purchase. I just received mine about 5 days ago. The box is roughly 40x61x12.

Uggghhh...I am officially NOT a VT25 owner. I know this doesn't help the thread much, but not sure where else to say this....I hate Panasonic at the moment.

I ordered the 50VT25 3d/home theater bundle (includes the Avatar 3d pack and the SC-BTT350 home theater) through Panasonic EPP. You could order it with the blu-ray player on-line, but if you upgraded to the blu-ray home theater system, could not order on-line, but had to call. So, I called and after not getting through for a day, finally got through (after being on hold for over an hour) and ordered the bundle. The woman on the phone confirmed my EPP account and the price. She said since it was an EPP bundle, my order would be "blocked" and that someone would call me in the next 24-48 hours to confirm my order. I didn't hear from anyone after 5 days or so, so today, while on-hold trying top call Panasonic about the order, call waiting rings through, and it is the delivery company scheduling my delivery for tomorrow. Great, all set. Last step, I check the credit card charges to make sure that the price is correct, only to find they have charged me $850 more than they should have.

I call in, and after being on hold for another hour, talking to an agent and a supervisor, they claim there is no way to credit me for the original price. My only option is to accept it and pay the extra money, or refuse the TV when the delivery guy comes tomorrow and get a full refund. The bundle is no longer offered, so I am out of luck trying to reorder it. There will be some bundles offered next week, but what they are and what prices are not known at this time.

To top it all off, I've now also missed similar but slightly more expensive bundles from Amazon and Costco, as they are not offered at this time either. So, not only do I have no TV, buying the TV, even not from Panasonic, is significantly more expensive now as well. I've never been exposed to such unbelievable mistakes that no one is willing to fix.

The supervisor was nice enough, and recognized how ridiculous it was that I couldn't get credited or somehow made whole, but I believe she was powerless to do so.

So I guess my questions are as follows:
1) Is it possible to have RCA audio input, while using HDMI for video, on the VT25?
2) If so, where is the setting located?

Sorry if this question is overly convoluted, I'm somewhat of an A/V noob.

In short - no.

I have the same 50vt25 - each of the "input groups" in the back are discrete, so we use the input button to "switch" from one to the other.
Next, HDMI is a digital i/o stream - it says "AV in" at the HDMI connectors since it handles both audio and video.
While RCA is analog - you can only send it to one the compatible inputs at the back of the TV. The TV will not "mix" the RCA as an input to send it to its speakers, while it is listening to its digital hdmi input at the same time.

It might be best to send the RCA to a stand-alone center channel speaker; or use the hdmi passthrough on the VSX anyways.

To do what you said, would take another separate device sitting between the VSX and the TV, that can take rca input as well as the hdmi video and then mix them as an hdmi signal to send to one of the hdmi inputs at the back of the TV
Not sure if such analog to digital mixers (MUX not converter!) exist as standalone devices outside of expensive receivers.
But I could be wrong and there are many here who can correct me easily

Thanks for the response If that's the case, it sounds like it may be better to forgo the VT25s speakers altogether then since I have no idea what additional processing the VSX may do on the HDMI signal without me asking it to, and it may add latency too. I might experiment some and see how much the VSX degrades things when using pass thru.

im not seeing anything on panasonic's site

While waiting for my VT25 to arrive (should be next week!) I have an audio out question. I see from the manual there is a DIGITAL OUT (Toslink) on the back of the TV.

If I run all my HDMI devices directly to the VT25 does that Digital out allow me to use just a single TOSLINK cable into the SINGLE toslink Digital input on my A/V receiver for those 3 devices? I have a DirecTV box, a Blu-Ray and a WD media streamer that are all HDMI and it would save me a whole bunch of audio connections and digital to coaxial converter boxes from the 2 other devices to the A/V receiver.

I don't know what the EPP pricing is but BB has the avatar package for the 54 at a great price. I've been looking and haven't seen it cheaper anywhere else. I'm not sure if the 50 is on sale as well but can't see why it wouldn't be.

When you use the Toslink OUT from the back of the TV, it will down convert all audio to 2Ch pcm.

From the tv manual under the "VIERA Link - HDAVI Control" section-> "When audio from other equipment connected to this unit via HDMI is output using DIGITAL AUDIO OUT of this unit,
the system switches to 2CH audio.
(When connecting to an AV amp via HDMI, you can enjoy higher sound quality.)"

If you want to preserve original source audio with surround/dts/5.1/7.1 etc. you do need to thread all audio through an Amp/Receiver rather than using the TV as the distribution switch. In my case I am able to input hdmi video feeds direct to the TV (only 1 BDP and 1 HTPC) while all audio goes to an amp.

I have been searching these forums for a week now, and I can't find any info on video noise. I have had my Panny for almost a month now and I see alot of video noise on some Bluray, HD channels and DVD's. For example Avatar Bluray is perfect but James Bond Quantum of Solace Bluray is terrible. Also Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, in the beginning is like there is a pixel party on the screen, especially in the sky. I managed to find a store that tried my Quantum of Solace and the same thing happened. I have not been able to find someone to try it on a Samsung C8000, does anyone know if the samsung's do the same thing? I have a few days left to jump ship and try the Samsung. I will try and put some Pics up to show the difference. Maybe some of you great guys and gals out there can try these movies on your tv's, Panny's and Sammy's would be of great help to me...Thx

I bought at a local retailer and got the Avatar box (BD movie and 2 pairs of glasses) but didn't get the player. Is this common for buying @ retail or did I get stiffed the player?

BTW, am loving the TV but I'm at work while it's at home playing solid color slides ;-)

I had the same issue when purchasing my p65vt25 last week. I didn't get the 3d player. My friend a couple weeks earlier got one from the same store for free. The salesman sold me the panasonic bdt100 for about 125.00. I'm very happy with the vt and the player. I just ordered the htb500. Hope the sound bar is an improvement over the stock sound of the vt25.

This afternoon I noticed the buzzing has started. The set had a little over 20 hours on it when the noise started. The set is wall mounted, and sitting in the viewing position I can hear the buzzing over quiet music. ARRRGGGHHHHHH! I also noticed the buzzing changes slightly when I cycle different test patterns. I was using the Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Edition disk. During the demo/intro you could hear the buzz over the music at the beginning, but it became less noticeable as the music picked up. Using the test patterns (which all looked very good with just he out of the box THX settings BTW), I noticed slight changes in the buzz when I changed the pattern. No surprise, brighter pixels seem to make more noise.

So has anyone had luck fixing the buzzing issue? Does the buzzing decrease after a certain amount of time or does it get worse? Wondering if I should just sit tight until there is more time on the set, exchange the unit now, or call Panasonic?

Anyone start a VT20/25 buzzing thread yet?

I seem to have the same issue, buzzing is louder when there seems to be writing on the screen. Most of the time it is quiet. My wife is watching some HD now and the noise is there but I have to put my head right to the tv to hear it.

Has anyone who has sent in their stuff to get Avatar 3D received any info on the Panny rebate status checker page? I went to check today and when I entered my info, the next page says "checking" (or something), but shows no results. I sent mine in on the 1st and I thought it should say something by now. Anyone getting anything?

I've had my 58" VT25 for two weeks now. It's a gorgeous set but I must admit that the floating blacks bum me out as does the knowledge that rising blacks are in my not-terribly-distant future. From what I hear, the post-rise black levels of the VT25 panels are still near the top of the 2010 plasma pack, so I think I can set that aside. The FBs, on the other hand, are much more concerning as I find them to be quite noticeable. I'm planning on doing D-Nice's calibration in a couple days. We'll see I that brightens my outlook at all.

Also, I've started to notice the buzzing, particularly when the brighter break-in slides were on the screen. It's soft enough that I can only hear it when I'm within a couple feet of the set, but I'm concerned that it'll worsen over time.

Same predicament, sent on 12/1, no status update.
Bad thing is, I have a unique hyphenated last name, so I have to try several variants to see if there's a possible match.

Hi. New to AVS and my first post. I bought 50VT25 @ Ultimate over the Black Friday. I think I got a decent deal but they haven't gotten it back in the stock...over two weeks now. And I have been agonizing on these forums since. Rising black levels, floating blacks, poor SD quality (which I think I will/can tackle with a mid-range AVR with decent Video processing), blah blah blah! I am dying here! Can someone make a decision for me.....keep the darn set when it finally arrives (reminds me that I need to call Ultimate again!) or just wait and see what everyone comes out with at CES Jan 6-10th? Help me!!!

As a matter of fact, it seems as though (and this may just be me) the bezel gets more "black" by the day...

At first, when you take the protective blue non-sticky plastic off of the bezel, you can definitely see that it is a dark, dark, brown...

But it seems as though the non-sticky blue plastic may somehow chemically make the bezel look more brown that it actually is after taking it off...

Because yesterday and today looking at the bezel, it looks a lot more black...

But yes, the bezel is a dark, dark brown (almost black) with a slight silver accent all across the top (barely noticeable unless you are looking for it) and a silver accent on the bottom of the bezel which is more noticeable...

HOWEVER, the stand has a "goldish" colored accent in the rim and then a much larger section of "goldish" color toward the back of the stand that shows behind the TV...

Not exactly sure what they were thinking?!

It does not match and looks rather stupid...

Is the bezel said dark bronze for VT25 50" also?

Think about the 10's of thousands of Panasonic VT25 TV's sold and how few people actually post on this forum or other forums. Its not like they are new to the Internet and can't find a place to post complaints, its more like they have nothing to complain about.
I went thru the same thing just 3 years ago during holiday season. I wanted a 52" LCD and really wanted the Sony model. Just then Samsung came out with an LED-LCD and also everyone on this forum was complaining about flashlights on the Sony's. "If it wasn't for the flashlight effect the Sony would be perfect". Well I bought the Sony anyway (from no defunct Circuit City), and it was awesome. I remember one night after I had it for over a year trying to figure out what flashlight effect even was. I turned off all the lights in the room and switched to an unused input so the screen was black and there it was in the corners. Well I chuckled and went back to TV Bliss.
This season I wanted to give the 52" to my daughter and husband so I went looking for a 60+ inch plasma. I found the best TV was the Panny VT25 and bought it. Its been a few weeks and I have been very happy with the Panny. I saw one scene where an actor's face went dark, then light but then it was gone.
Don't get too hung up on this forum. It is very helpful when narrowing down your choices OR if you do have an issue after the fact. Just my experience and opinion.

Has anyone any sucess is using the audio return channel functionality with their VT25?

Most of the viewing of my 65VT25 is with either Blu-Ray or DirecTV sent to it via HDMI1 from a Marantz SR7005 receiver, and that works fine. For off-air content, I have the coax from my antenna connected to the TV, and I want to have the 7005 handle the sound. I have the VT25's speakers turned off.

I have HDMI control turned on at the 7005, but I can't get sound out from off-air content.

I would appreciate if anyone can provide ideas. Perhaps there is a special incantation that I must perform?

Check pg 39. Pretty sure you need to have "default speakers" set to "theater".

Do you get sound from the Vieracast apps on the Marantz? I think if you get sound from those you should also get sound from the internal tuner on the VT25 via ARC to the Marantz. I have it working with a Denon 3311. Also, make sure that the HDMI out port you are using on the Marantz accepts ARC. On the Denon, only one of the HDMI outs does.

I forget. there's a blurb about this in the manual. Something somewhere has to be turned on in the TV. Given the chance that HDMI-CEC can cause a variety of issues in various components, it may be prudent to stick with the optical connect for TV audio. But it doesn't hurt to try it.

It takes them three weeks to process the order. Then another 4 to 6 to get to your door. So in essence about 90 days.

I have looked before and get the same status. There is a phone number but I was on hold so long that I hung up. I sent in the copy of my manuals front page with the S/N so I wanted to be sure all was OK.

Yeah, the section of the manual that Sean referenced is apropos.

There are two disadvantages to using an optical connection here:
  1. I would have to run the cable (the display is wall mounted).
  2. The audio return solution switches the audio source (to the HDMI) automatically.

One (minor) disadvantage to using return audio is that (according to the manual) use of HDMI control consumes power.

I know this is Panasonics first production after buying pioneer Kuro technology. Wondering if I jumped the gun and should have waited till the 2nd or 3rd generation.

DNice seems to be knowledgeable and others have posted positive response to his settings but I have not seen the QP with his settings and turned back to defaults. Does anyone know how Dnice came to the suggested settings. In the end it all comes down to personal preference.

i have this problem as well. Watching Prime time tv, i get a sort of haze over the picture. As well as the HBO HD channels. Sometimes the shows will look great, but alot of the time I see flat colors.

i still have a few days to return it, any suggestions to try and solve this problem? Blurays look great though.
