Official Panasonic TC-PxxVT20/25 Owners Thread NO PRICE TALK!! - Page 290

Hey guys, I received my VT20 today. I'm using a PS3 for 3D bluray and I'm noticing during Avatar that every few minutes the screen will flash white and the sound will go out for a half a second. It's kind of like when there's a scratch on the DVD. I tried putting BD Blackhawk down in the PS3 and it seems perfectly fine. What could this be?

I first noticed a faint ticking / snapping, that i originally thought was coming from the speakers - then it hit me that its probably due to expansion and contraction for the plastic bezel and metal frame. It's not a deal breaker, but it can be quite noticeable during quiet scenes. I've been since following this thread pretty closely.

I've noticed a hum / buzz coming from the set as well - nothing like some members are complaining about. It is NOT noticeable from 8 feet away in complete silence.

I decided to call Panasonic and they are sending a tech out. Apparently, to fix the buzzing, a combo of extra sealant and a new board are recommended. For the ticking, felt will be installed.

Will update everyone with my findings as soon as the work is complete.

Cheers

I had to return my 58VT25 twice, and ultimately just got a refund, because Panasonic Canada told me my buzzing was "normal". It looks like they finally are acknowledging the problem - that is some good news.

Has anyone recently bought a Viera without the Avatar kit and successfully gotten the movie through the rebate method that people use if they bought the TV before the kits became available?

I got a VT25 for a really good price (new) but I had to not get the Avatar kit because with the kit it would have been $600 more expensive because of Panasonic's minimum retail price crap for bundles. Would I still be able to get the movie?

Just buy the kit on Amazon for only $270.00.

If you mail in your receipt along with the UPC off the box of the VT25 you will be able to get Avatar. You will not receive the new 3D glasses though. As Barry657 said, It could be more wise to purchase the Avatar starter kit from Amazon. They have a great price on the kit. The new glasses are much better.

There is no 'minimum retail price' for bundles. The crap came from whoever told you that.

I would post the name of the vendor who told you that :-)

Sent the coupon in on Dec 1 and received the BD last week. Watched it on Tuesday.

But so far I've been really pleased. I've been keeping Contrast low for now, and haven't dialed in any settings yet, but even so, I'm pleased with the picture, especially from HD sources. (SD's so/so for me).

One small gripe I've got about the set is the Digital Audio out not passing through and instead only passing 2 Channel audio. But otherwise I think it's a real nice set.

I've only played around with the 3D a little bit, but what I've seen so far has been impressive, even the offerings that Comcast gives me (Top/Bottom methods).

I have the same problem with my VT25 thats connected to my bose 321 only getting 2.0audio . I thought that just connecting my digital optical cable to my tv while everything else is connected via HDMI would work. New to posting but hoping this reaches someone. I use to use a hdmi switcher that had corresponding digital optical. But my VT25 has multiple HDMI So I dont use it anymore and think its probably outdated(psyclone)

TVs cannot pass 5.1 audio from any external source, only from off-air broadcasts. Everything else will be passed as 2-ch PCM or DD depending on the TV and settings.

Well the loyalty program says "for TVs purchased between March and Nov 30th", so they would see that I bought the TV on Jan 6th if I do the receipt, the alternate way is to make a copy of your instruction book cover and write down the serial. I was wondering if anybody who bought their TV after Nov 30th has tried this method and was successful.

I figure they have the date cutoff because they dont want people scamming them and getting the kit with the movie and then getting another movie for free. My receipt does not have the kit on it so maybe thats all they really need to see. I doubt it thought because rebate centers look for any reason to deny a claim.

I got a 50VT25 for $1499 which is the lowest Ive seen it go for, they had to charge me $2100 if I got the bundle, which is what the TV costed at Amazon when they were selling it with the bundle. The sales guy thought it was stupid because you can buy the kit/blurayplayer separately for less so he asked the manager, manager told him Panasonic has a minimum retail price when the bundle is included. Ive seen the TV go for less than $2100 but those stores didnt include bundles, so I dont think its impossible.

I dont want to buy a kit for $250+, the TV comes with glasses and thats good enough for now, if I buy another pair of glasses it will be 3rd party. The movie would be nice to have but not $250 nice.

I may need more than 25' of HDMI cable. From what I've seen, high speed HDMI only goes to 25'.

What options do I have as I'm routing the cable through the wall?

I need high speed/1.4 for my 54VT25.

There are a few 50 ft HDMI 1.4 cables on Amazon. Here's one of them:

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-HDT...4422321&sr=1-1

Alternatively, you could try HDMI-over-Cat. I'm not sure if you can get HDMI 1.4 with that, however. Check it out on Amazon.

You'd need something like (actually, not sure the first is 1.3b/1.4 certified, though, but it's out of stock anyway) http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2
or http://www.hdtvsupply.com/flhdcawiacam.html or http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmiextenders.html.

I just bought a 65VT25 last night that was a floor model (I checked it out very thoroughly before buying), and it included the full package (Avatar 3D, 3 total pairs of glasses, and PD2-3D-BDT100), with a nicely discounted price.

Set it up last night, VERY happy with it.

I received my 54VT25 yesterday and unfortunately it seems I'm going to have to return it. I'm experiencing the annoying buzzing sound that other users have reported. My surround sound's max volume level is 35 and even at 25, when a scene gets quiet, from about 8 feet away, I can hear the buzzing and it's extremely distracting. When a scene goes completely quiet, it's definitely very noticeable. I'm not sure if this is normal for plasma TVs (this is my first plasma) but I can't live with it.

So my question is, what LCD/LED has picture quality that can match the VT25 series? Or at least, which one comes the closest? I don't want to risk getting another plasma with the same buzzing problem.

Normal plasma buzz should not be noticeable at normal viewable distances. My 58VT25 does not buzz and many owners report the same. Some forum members have returned their sets 3 times and they still buzz loudly. There is a reason and there is supposedly a fix by Panasonic. I personally did not see any LCD/LED that I thought had a better PQ than the VT25, when I was shopping. You have to go with your own experience with that.

You have the Qualifications for a Bonus Avatar Blu-ray 3D Disc backwards.

A copy of the sales reciept is required with a qualifying purchase date. AND If you don't have the UPC code cut form the carton because you no longer have the carton, then you can take a photocopy of the owner's manual with the serial # legibly written on it.

i.e. You must have both: 1). copy of reciept -and- 2). original UPC sticker or copy of manual with written serial #.

You're basically describing the routine HDCP handshakes that occur every few minutes on any HDMI connection. Only in your case they are not happening behind the scenes as they should. 1st suggestion is to change out any HDMI cable that's in the chain between player and TV. If it still happens, remove any AVR or other device from between the player and TV, try again.

Been using the 50VT25 for the first time tonight and the buzz is insane, WAY worse than the Samsung its replacing, I would have to blast the volume to hide it. Has a June build date.

A little bit of white on a black background creates the most amount of buzz. Unlike the Samsung the buzz seems to be mostly everywhere, not in a narrow directional field, its also much louder than the Samsung ever was. This is definitely going back, ridiculous.

For those of you who have a set that buzzes, are you giving it any time to break in before returning it? I ask because mine buzzed a little for the first couple of days, and now is silent, and has been for the 3 months since. Maybe give it a week or two if your return policy allows for it.
Ive only been using it for a couple hours, I noticed the buzz right when turning it on, switched to THX mode and have Ive been doing Netflix since, the buzz is incredibly noisy during darker scenes but pretty much absent on the Netflix menu screen. When playing a movie theres a buzz most of the time that I can easily hear over the volume

No, that's not what is happening on my set. It must be something else.

I bought my tv & complete bundle on 11/17/10. Came with 2 movies.
I then sent in the rebate on 12/1 & received my Avatar on 12/22/10.

To those with inordinately buzzy panels,

Had a truck roll from a panny provider this week, great guy walked me through the repair kit ( wires from a different production run), etc... But while admitting it was a buzzy panel said panasonic would NOT exchange and suggested a baffle

No disrespect to the actual tech, who was great ...

But after dropping my cash I expected that the "concierge" service and what I had heard was exceptional customer service would prevent such --- love the picture but honestly can't stand the buzz long enough to enjoy a movie

Suggestions? Recommendations? Can anyone stateside detail what the repair was for them

Neighbor has exact same model with no buzz ...

Yeah, I've had my 58VT25 for probably 6 months now. Still buzzes. May have gotten a little worse over time. I only hear it when it is muted or when the volume level is down around 10 or 11. Seems to only happen on bright scenes. If I switch from THX to standard mode (low contrast) it will take the buzz away. Since I've had it for 6 months I guess it is what it is. Doesn't sound like there is any type of fix for it.

What about having a Panasonic tech come to my house and fix it. Does Panasonic still offer that?

Yeah, you can have a tech come out. From reading this forum though, it doesn't sound like a standard fix is available (boards or either indefinitely back ordered or they say it is normal. I haven't tried to call them yet. Will probably do so, but I'm not expecting a solution based on what I have been reading on this thread.
