Cox has done a great job here in Phoenix of promoting that they are carrying the 3D coverage of the Masters with a number of TV commercials and setting up demos at local Best Buys and their own retail outlets.
I had a chance to make it over to one of the local Best Buys that was showing the Masters in 3D. I had my doubts that the locations that Cox listed on their website (http://www.cox.com/support/corp/3dstores.asp
) would actually be showing it. I figured I would walk in and no one would know what I was talking about but I was wrong. Upon entering into the store there was a sign stating that Cox was carrying the 3D coverage of the Masters on channel 700 and that you could watch it live in the store.
I walked back to the TV area and sure enough they had the Samsung 55C7000 showing the 3D feed. There were already a number of people standing around talking about 3D and two people were watching (there were only two pair of glasses). I walked around for a few minutes and came back to get my chance to watch. When I did get my chance to watch, I was very impressed with what I saw. The depth of the image was great and best of all seeing the change in the landscape gave me a whole new appreciation of golf (I am not a golfer). I watched for about 20 minutes and my biggest complaint was the amount of crosstalk. There were times when there was a lot but when everything was dialed in the effect was great. I really liked what I saw and can't wait to see more sports in 3D.
