We broke the tv in for 100 + hours.

they must ship in a different box, just measured the box mine came in and got 13" x 33.5" x 52.5".

Can anyone comment on what a mount does to a wall? This is going up in my apt. and curious on the patching I'll be doing when i move out.

SM, Extra hidden menu, or Easter Egg on the 550?

Okay, so last night I was searchin' around the net for any additional info on the PK550, and while using Bing, I came across this post in a Blog site. Have anyone heard of this, or did they just find how to enter the SM?

First, it opens the basic screen calmly, then it closes menu window and exposes a password screen. Now interesting, the password set on the TV is not the same as password used here. I’m curious, what does it mean?

I couldn't get the link to work right, but there was no other replies to this anyway.

Depends on the wall mount, but it will just leave some small holes which can be plastered over. Just make sure that the anchor bolts go into the studs! If they are just in the drywall, it will only be a matter of time before they pull out.

Ordered mine from Amazon--1746--any experience with their shipping on plasmas?
Alright guys. after deliberating all day, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered my
60PK550. It will be here on Friday. I'm going strictly on 2 weeks of hard and agonizing research. Going back and forth between plasma and LCD (this will be my first flat panel TV, BTW). I finally read the review posted by Chad and made my decision. I'm kinda nervous and anxious, but I'm really looking forward to hooking this baby up. I'm not a videophile by any means and I'm pretty new to this board, so I'll be checking in frequently for tips and advice on how to best enjoy my new purchase.

Can anyone who has this tv let us noobs know of some decent settings for break in period. I guess under 50 for contrast and brightness is a given..... Any comments? Don't want the torch settings is all.
Just saw the 50" at HHGregg(really really great price BTW). the set looks great, but man its like a mirror. I love everything about it, just not sure if I can bring myself to pick up a set w/o a filter.
Yeah. guess one of my concerns is the glare on this TV. So was there a lot of glare when the set was on? how much? and was it very distracting?

I thought so, but then again, it was in the middle of a well lit store. Mostly noticable on dark screens. Depending on your viewing environment, this set could be a steal.

chad's review says the LG is likely superior to the G20/25 in a light-controlled environment

back in the day all you needed to know was that if you got the latest SONY WEGA XBR tube, then you were king of the hill. Now, it's decisions, decisions.
to be honest I think TV shopping nowadays is worst than buying a car...

I am very impressed with the overall accuracy and superb picture quality of the PK550. It shows a significant step up in performance from last year’s PS60, and in my opinion it even merits a good portion of the giant-slayer status that I give LG’s bang for the buck leading LH90.

Nice review. Very impressive... LG is stepping it up big time lately -- first with their LCD's and now with their PDP's. Considering the price, this seems like a steal.

My only concern is how it handles IR compared to brands like Panasonic or Pioneer.

just got mine in today. I almost freaked when I couldnt find the adapter that connects the stand to the tv! But I found it, all tapped up in some foam. Anyway, the TV looks great. Sharp, crisp and great motion. I'm still playing with the calibration. But I think I've got it down. Right now, im in class and I have the break in option set. It scans through colors and moving blocks thingy going for a few hours. Ran hellboy 2 and kickboxer (which looks amazing in HD, one of the best transfers to HD ive seen for a film of this age. Only was 8-10 bucks at walmart. Love it so far...

Not so much from what i remember. It seemed to always be based on size. The bigger, the better. No matter how much it weighed. I remember when we upgraded from a 19" tv to a 32" tv in the living room and watched star trek first contact on vhs when it came out with 2 speaker stereo sound. Man it was awesome! *lol* Good times.
congrats borcth, you gonna share some pics man...I want to see. Btw I remember back in the day when I bought my 32" Samsung tube for $500 I was so excited...I thought I had the biggest TV in the world. lol
post #176 of 5211
Ditto!, Yea, i'll try to get some pics once I get home of some blu ray action.

Same thing happened to me, I was about to drive back to sears and verbally rip them a new A-hole.

Can't get over how sexy this thing is, only problem i have noticed so far was in a few scenes of planet earth(particularly very dark or very bright) there seems to be a flicker of "snow". Any one care to shed some light?
Just ordered from Amazon. 60PK550 should be delivered 3/29-3/31. Almost bought a Panny P54S1 a month or two ago. I found this 60 for a little more money. And the way the review from Chad are reading this 550 should be a great improvement over an S1. About 200$ to upgrade to a 60" and a better set seemed like a no brainer to me? Hope I didn't buy to soon.
my junk is supposed to get here between 1:45 and 3:45 tomorrow........ I will have 1920x1080 unboxing video uploaded to youtube soon after delivery !!!!!
