Just upgraded to 10.0.2325.51 and tried Toy Story 3 BR. Using headphones. PDVD loads and displays DVD, when it is a BR. I have to eject and reload 2 or 3 times to get it to be recognized as a BR. Sometimes gets a 'cannot load file' error message, otherwise no errors displayed.

I then get a loading dialog and then a black screen, where things stop. I don't hear the drive spin and PDVD thinks it is still playing. Cannot get audio or video out of even the trailer stuff before the movie, just the black screen.

Beauty and the Beast BR works fine (similar timeframe Disney BR release).

Toy Story 3 plays OK in my Oppo BR player.

System Specs:
Motherboar Gigabyte P55A-UD3
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Intel i7-870 CPU
Nvidia GTX 460 , 260.99 drivers
Windows 7 pro 64-bit
BR-ROM: Optiarc BR-5100S

I just got an HDMI 1.4 receiver and I can't get the 7.1 audio track from Toy Story 3 to play on the receiver. If I select the 5.1 or 7.1 audio tracks the receiver just shows 5.1 audio. Any ideas?

Does anyone else have the problem of PowerDVD 10 crashing after it starts. I get the window to open and then an error message pops up saying that the program has stopped working.

I've updated the program and still get this result. Anyone else managed to fix this?

I've had that happen in the past and I had to reinstall PDVD and or update video drivers. I also had an issue with movie images formatted for the PS3. PDVD10 would just crash but older versions of PDVD played them just fine. I had to use tsMuxeR to make them into images formatted for Blu-Ray players to get PDVD10 to play them.

Help! This is why I got PDVD10 and a new AVR. Unmolested bit streamed HD audio to the AVR. Is 7.1 not supported by PDVD10? The AV setup guide on the movie can't send audio to the back surrounds either.

I have a Nvidia GTS 450 and a Denon 2310 AVR (HDMI 1.3) and Toy Story 7.1 works just fine. Here are some things to try:
1) I'll assume you are using Win 7 - make sure Windows Audio Control Panel is doing 7.1
2) Make sure you 'told' your AVR you are setup for 7.1
3) Make sure PDVD is set to allow non-decoded audio to pass to external device (don't remember the official option)
4) Make sure your card/mobo can actually bitstream 7.1

Thanks, for the reply.
1) I do have Windows 7 with an ATI 5970 video card. Do you really need to do that and if so wouldn’t it be on the ATI HDMI sound device. My motherboard sound (Realtek) and my Sound Blaster X-Fi have their own speaker setup and I don’t think the HDMI has one. I thought that was the idea as it’s just steaming the HD audio track and not doing anything to it. ???
2) The Onkyo TX-NR5008 is set up as a 6.2 system with the one rear surround speaker. It works with all the onboard test and the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 setup.
3) This sounds like it could be it as I never knew of this setting. I’ll try it as soon as I can (find it ). Although it is steaming the HD audio, the receiver just sees 5.1 weather I play the 5.1 HD audio track or the 7.1 audio track.
4) Again, I have the ATI 5970 and I did not think there was any restriction on what was in the HD audio steam, at this time anyway. The card either can or cannot bit steam HD audio tracks. Right?

This is my problem when I upgraded from PDVD_8 to PDVD_10 Ultra. Had a working PDVD_8 until upgrading and now it crashes instantly upon launch without ever getting to the GUI. Have uninstalled, reinstalled tried different drivers, etc.
May be sound related as I recently got the same (windows7) error message with HDHomerun while messing with AC3 and ffdshow settings. Uninstalled both of those filters but no change.

Edit: deleted RTLCPAPI.dll = still not starting

...Yeah, I don't believe you need #1 (configured for your ATI High Def audio device) for strictly bitstreaming via PDVD10 but I have it configured anyway to match my setup in case I'm not bitstreaming.

It was number three.

3) Make sure PDVD is set to allow non-decoded audio to pass to external device (don't remember the official option)

It is under Audio where you set Speaker Environment to “Use HDMI” but I had never seen the “Non-decode high-definition audio to external device” option under Output Mode as it looks like you have to have a movie playing to be able to see it.

Thanks!

Changing it from “PCM decoded by PowerDVD” is like night and day sounds soooo much better. The 5.1 vs. 7.1 track, not so much. Though I can now stand by the one rear surround and hear sound.

I have the exact same problem. When i start PowerDVD it starts and I see a desktop of PowerDVD but right after that a windows pop up frame comes up saying: PowerDVD 10.0 has stopped working.

Till now I tried to uninstall and reinstall but this does not help me. I also killed majority of background processes and disabled a secondary sound card that is also installed in the system. Hope we will find a proper solution. Is there some log report that PowerDVD creates to monitor what can be a cause?

best, d.

EDIT1: I just came across this post that might be a solution but I can not verify it at the moment as I'm not at my home.

EDIT2: Found another thing that might be useful for solving this problem with PowerDVD not working. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic348044.html

Solved! Just disable Ati High Definition Audio Device in Device manager.

Just a work around for now if you need that audio output. I'm using 7.1 analog

Found the solution (Googled the fault module ha ha) here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...e-fc91d08d5896

My PDVD10_0 Ultra is working! Now all I need is an AMD 6xxx for 3D

Just want to report that there are two solutions for this problem if PowerDVD is not starting with you.

1. Either you disable ATI HDMI Audio device in the System properties. This solution is for those that does not need HDMI audio.

2. Enable on-board Realtek Audio device in your motherboard's BIOS which you probably disabled it. With this option ATI HDMI will work and also on-board sound will work if selected.

For me the second option is applicable as I have a 3rd audio card installed inside in my HTPC and that is Asus Xonar STX card which I use for music listening. I use ATI HDMI Audio for watching Blurays under PowerDVD 10. So for the moment I have 3 audio devices but neither of them are in conflict with another so everything is working. Which audio card is active you select under Audio devices.

best to all,
d.

Thank you! and welcome to AVS to you and Tony.
Take care Tom, best of luck in your new position.

Although I don't use HDMI I am glad you found us an answer to the work-around. Watched several BRs and no issues so far. Thanks again.

Hello all!
I've got an svga dlp projector (connected via vga) and a pair of Another Eye 2000 shutter glasses. I was wondering if it's possible to watch a 3d bluray movie frame sequentially at 85 hz? The only mode I've been able to get working properly is row interleaved.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have some problems with PDVD10, too. I have a Deanon 1911 and a ATI HD5450 (latest CCC). The Windows Audio Control Panel is doing 5.1, AVR is configured to 5.1 and PDVD is set to allow non-decoded audio to pass to external device.

Unfortunately I cannot watch any BluRay Disc. For a test i Selected a m2ts file on a Disc. That works fine. My Denon recognize a DTS singnal and the sound is great.

If I put a BD in the Dirve PDVD says that it is loading the disc and

- freezes or
- crashes to the desktop.

If I set windows to sterio PDVD plays any BD.

I already tried to un- and reinstall -> same problem.

Can anyone help me?

In cast that someone have the same problem: Install the brand new version of CCC (10.12) and the problem is solved :-)

I see that people are playing files from thier disc drives using Power DVD10. I just purchased PDVD10. Here is what I have Win7,I am using WMC running Mediabrowser. I was using VLC as my external player in Mediabrowser. Everything played ISO's and File structure TS. I changed the external player to PDVD10. WMC minimizes and PDVD10 starts but nothing plays. I just get a start up screen but no movie. Could anyone give me a clue where to look. There is a screen in PDVD10 that shows network. It does not show the server where my movies are stored could this be the problem.

Thank You
Don

3DBR plays great with AMD5870!
PDVD10 Ultra, Viewsonic PGD-150 glasses
Acer H5360 3D 120HZ DLP projector
HDMI 1.3

2D-3D conversion works great too and in black and white (Dr. Strangelove) also!
Well, this is a bit disheartening. I contacted Cyberlink about the fact that Cat 10.12 breaks bitstreaming with PDVD10. There is no patch for the issue. So, I have NO idea when they plan on fixing this problem. Good times.

what can i do if i want to hear dtshd-ma in pdvd 10?

I am using gt 430, and i dont have the 3 option in the output mode.

i am getting 3d from the bluray disc but i am having trouble with the sound, it only outputs dts
post #1315 of 1608
Make sure you are using the latest nVidia driver and the latest PDVD10 update. You will only see the 3rd option while playing a blu-ray.
My Equip

Acer 5360 DLP Projector
Geforce GTS 450
Nvidia 260.99 drivers
Powerdvd 10 Ultra build 2325
HDMI 1.4 cable straight to projector
Viewsonic DLP link glasses
Windows 7 32bit

In 3d display device option i picked 3dvision ready monitor with resolution set to 720p, 120hz, but when playing a 3d blu ray, I keep getting the message powerdvd cannot enable 3d playback. The movie still plays, but there is shaking and the picture just looks 2d with the glasses on and activated. The closest to 3d is when I pick HDMI 1.4 enabled 3d TV. I still get the error message, but the picture looks 3d except the shaking is still there.

Can someone who is using the acer 5360 with dlp link glasses successfully let me know their settings they are using to make it work. I probably missed something

EDIT - got the 3d working, but I ended up having to buy the 3d vision kit. Once I hooked up the emitter, my projector got recognized in the stereoscopic 3d test and 3d blu ray worked with both the nvidia glasses and the dlp link glasses. Getting the audio and 3d to work thru the receiver was another pain in the ass.

I lost the audio in Cinema mode all of a sudden. I have no idea why and I really don't see where anyone fixed it when it doesn't work. But if anyone happens to know a common reason then let me know. Classic mode works fine. Cinema has no audio at all, and no third option for HD. It had been working fine always.

64bit windows 7, i3 Intel with a 5450 ATI card.
Wutang, the PDVD option 3Dvision monitor is for the Nvidia kit. For DLP Link glasses choose the 120Hz Time Sequencial 3D. Glad you got it working.

In the latest PDVD 10 build I have, there is only nvidia ready display 120hz and no 120hz time sequential 3d option. In the older build there was 120hz time sequential option, but it didnt work either. I tried everything and none of the 3d options worked. I always got the error that powerdvd could not enable 3d. I tried with and without installing the nvidia 3d vision software, but nothing. It wasnt until I hooked up the emitter (without the emitter, I could never complete the 3d setup wizard to enable stereoscopic 3d) that I finally got 3d output.
