Picked up a Sony BPD-S470 3D BD Player.. Really slick!

The thing is small, same thin 1" tall profile like their latest gen DVD players. Connectivity is good IMO, has two USB ports, one on the front, one on the back.

Options and setup was a breeze, though it defaults to having 1080i out of the box without running the setup routine (which takes about 2 minutes).

DVDs will play in native 480 if you don't run the setup and select 1080p as the default video output. Didn't realize this out of the gate and forgot how "bad" un-up-converted DVDs look in a 1080p display. Once fixed, it did a better job of my Samsung DVD up-converter. PQ on my Epson 8100 was brilliant.

The player is really fast too, spin-up and loading BD's is just plain quick.

I haven't had a chance to attach it to my network yet to test out the netflix and home media server capabilities, thats up next.

The only complaint i have is the front panel buttons are really small and are laying flat on the bottom "lip" of the player.. not very tactile.

Now i just need some 3D Content, some Glasses.. a new Tv.. eh.. ****.. ok, got a long way to go before i get to watch 3D with it.. Bah!

A firmware update to come out and be available for the player too right?

That's what it says on the outside of the box to enable the 3D.. at least they had it displayed prominently. Firmware updates look like they are handled from the Menu and DL from Sony directly.. Looks easy enough..

I need another BD player for my family room and this one looks good (I had one foot in the BDP N460 door).

Does the 470 have the Netflix capability? Answered my own question...yes it does

Update.....I purchased the player from Amazon (arrived at my door step the next day).

Very easy set up, beautiful picture and extremely fast disk load. What a great improvement over my previous generation BD players

Any updates from owners of this deck on 3D functionality? Any SA-CD owners out there buy this deck partly due to that support and have any playback comments on that format?

plays sacd's without any problems and will output multi channel dsd to my tx-nr3008, my 3d tv isn't here yet so i can't comment on that. I run regular blu-rays through my sony 400 disk blu mega changer (wish it did 3d so i could have just one player)
