I Pre-ordered last month. I buying the 608 to replace a PIO - so when it
arrives it arrives. I'm not sitting there with a HOLE in my electronics.

LOL! Likewise, I've got an old Pioneer VSX-505S in my bedroom and a crappy RCA HTIAB in the living room, both pushing my new 5.1 Monoprice ceiling speakers that I just put in, it's painful, but at least it works!

I did throw my TX-NR1007 on both and did a calibration, those Monoprice speakers are quite something for the price!

Eager anticipation, yes, slow death, not so much.

You need to use an HDMI cable to enable encoders such as DTS-HD Maser Audio and Dolby True HD. Optical can't handle those mixes, only HDMI.

Everything MonoPrice has is JUST OUTSTANDING for the price.

I read through this entire thread hoping to see some info on the 808. I didnt.. Has anyone heard of any plans for Onkyo to deliver this? I ask becuase I am in the market for a new reciever and was planning on scooping up the 807. I guess I am asking/wondering if the price on the 807 will drop further. I currently see if for $780.. Which seems like a good deal to me.

I would place a guess for the 708/808 for the fall as that is when the 707 and 807 were out last year I think.

As for this being an owners thread... Whoever gets one of these units first should just start a new thread and post pictures, etc. as well as answer the flood of questions thats will likely come in. This thread is no different from the 5 or 6 other "official" 608 threads that are mostly speculation and pre order talk.
Its always nice when you click one of the "official" threads and the first few pages are filled with good info, instead of having to dig dozens of pages deep before any real information starts showing up. Alot of the denon threads are like that, as are many of the TV threads.

Finally placed my order. Can't wait for it to come in.

So I've narrowed my search down over the past few weeks to the 608. When today i stubbled upon a pic of it in silver and became smitten. The black is ok but I love the silver it has a kind of retro feel to it that I love. My question is does any1 know if it will be available in silver. It seemed like all the pics were from the UK.

Anybody got any updated info from a dealer or other source? This is killin' me not being able to have surround sound at the moment. I sold my receiver off when this was supposed to launch in March,. I was really hoping to have it in time for Avatar but no way now. I'm stuck watching movies and playing PS3 games with tv speakers and no sub.

My dealer said they expect them at the end of April. But honestly, they're probably just guessing too.

Why not ? Most people come to this thread (at this stage) mostly for price. The "no price talk" title of this thread is BS.

AVSForum policy. I agree that it makes no sense. They want you to be a paid member and say it will get you enough savings to pay for itself. Well that's all nice and good if you buy AV stuff a lot. For those of us that don't, it's just not worth it.

Like others have previously posted, best thing to do is call ABT, J&R, B&H, etc, and ask what the best price they can sell for is.

Have 2 coming! Got a pre-order special.

Will replace the 607 I JUST bought last week - will send back whent he 608 arrives and will also replace the 606 I have that needs to go in for repair. Has a nasty ground hum.

Dealer says they should be getting them in late this week or next.

The place I ordered from said they think their shipment will arrive Friday. Which means I could have it next week! Who else is getting really excited??

I won't bet on it till the week after that though.

I changed my preorder today and they said it should ship in 8 days. Sure hope that's true, I've been holding off on playing GOW3 and watching some new blu's until it gets here.

I receive my Monoprice speakers tomorrow. How do you like yours? I got the 6 1/2 for the rears, angled 8's for the surrounds, 2 way 8's for the L & R and the 100watt rated center.

8" angled for centers, 8" non-angled for LR and surrounds. Neither application allowed for wall mount so I had to go with all ceiling, but it honestly sounds very good and imaging is completely believable as long as you aren't right under the tv

Cool. Luckily i was able to wall mount my L,R,C. I cant wait till their here. They will be hooked up to my Kenwood VR4700 till the 608 gets here.

It looks like Onkyo has removed the "Coming Soon" tag from the TX-SR508 and TX-SR308 receivers, and are instead now shown as "New". I hope the TX-SR608 is close behind. I'm in the same boat as others: newly remodeled room, speakers in the wall, new TV, but no receiver as I await the 508.

Tiger Direct is showing that the 508 is in stock now. I ordered from JR, so hopefully my 508 will be in the mail soon. They still show it as a preorder. The 608 cannot be too far behind for you guys.

I received my Monoprice speakers today. They are nice. I kind of was expecting light flimsy speakers and these are not. They have a good weight to them and are constructed well. They look durable to me. I have not installed them yet. Would yall like to see the out of the box pics and then the installed pics?
