608 Audyssey handles the sub as one no matter how many you have.

The 608 will NOT EQ your sub. Audyssey 2EQ does not apply an EQ to the sub, you have to step up to Audyssey MultEQ for that.

This is the one major drawback of the 608. For a while I was considering getting a refurbished 707 so I could have MultEQ, but couldn't justify the price. The denon's in this price range also have MultEQ, but I didn't like other things about them.

I'm a bit discouraged today. I was told that the next shipment that ABT would receive would be 60 units today. Since I was #26 in line I expected mine to ship today. But when I called earlier today they told me they received a very small amount of units and mine didn't ship. They said they are expecting another very small batch tomorrow and possibly more later in the week. Anyone else experience similar or have more information about the incoming stock?

I was told that I am #36 and while I haven't gotten a shipment notice, I did notice that my card was charged to day so I'm expecting a "shipped" email tomorrow. Check to make sure your card wasn't processed & good luck.

Has anyone heard of antarespro? They have a super great deal but I don't know if they are an ok site.

i ordered on 4/22, my card was charged the same day. i haven't received a shipped email..

When was your order date? Mine was 4/12. I hoping it ships by Wednesday.

Most companies charge your card for the full amount when you first order, but it's not a full process. It's just to see if the money is there. It can take a few days for it to drop off your card. That said, it has been a few days already.

4/13 8am - I'm hoping for the same and that UPS doesn't make me wait through the weekend for it

I ordered from Abt on 4/17. My credit card was charged the same day. It's on my current bill. I have not received a shipping notification. I wasn't happy about it, but I'm willing to let it slide for the great price.

For me it was only a Token Amount 10%.

If it was the full amount then yes you should be getting a tracking number
soon. It is against the LAW to charge the FULL Amount unless you can deliver
the product.

No, they charged me the full amount. They gave me the option of not giving them credit card info, but said they would have to contact me again when they had one ready to ship. I thought it would be easier to just give them the info at order time.

As I said in my previous post - unless you give them permission to charge
the FULL AMOUNT it is against the LAW. They only asked me for a 10%
Deposit - $40 - and I said yes to that. With the 10% deposit - they have
no need to contact you again. When they can ship - they simply charge
the remaining 90%.

608 user update: 7.1 setup, 2eq etc

Onkyo 606 (HDMI blew up)
Onyp 807 (reetunred, HDMI issues with HTPC ATI 5870)
Yamaha 6665 (Nice but HDMI-CEC worked only 90% of the time)
Pioneer 1019 (floor model close out, but zone 2 bbroken)

Onyo 608, running 7.1, YHX Cinemea (so my 360 makes 5.1 to 7.1) runs cool as ****. Quiet also. Just stunning
HDMI-CEC works. Programmed my harmoney in seconds since 90% is hardware
3D NOT tried (Mitsubishi coming out with adapater for my DLP)
HDMI-CEC works with Mits 73" DLP, PS3 Slim, panasonic TS2 Waterproof (new!) camera. Inputs, on off volume. Key things
The sound is very full. I think 2EQ did a better job than on the 606. Maybe teh THX2 Cinema does a better job of using the 7.1 expansion
GUI is BRILLIANT. ANYONE with an HTPC will appreciate this with codecs, worries etc. You know EXACTLY what is happening WHILE PLAYING


So one MUST compare to the 807 - it is only fair

807: More networking and multi-eq (nice) Same token, with "softsqueeze" running on slimserver not sure why I need all the pandora in the receiver per se
608: HDMI-CEC is flawless, HTPC SUPPORTED WITH SUPPORT FROM ONKO, and runs MUCH cooler

Again, for the "special price" I paid call it a day.

Btw, XBOX 360 Splineter Cell Convication sounds INCREDIBLE ......... the 7.1 expansion from 5.1 really helps.

Hi everyone.

Got my call yesterday evening letting me know that the receiver should be in my hands by Wednesday.

I'm a huge noob to all of this and this will be my first "true" AVR receiver.
Reading(but not understanding) the manual and some posts on this thread, I ask the experts...

Is there a correct or preferred way to set up one's receiver?
Or does it come down to preference?

I guess what I don't want, is to have this great machine being used at the absolute minimum.

Patiently waiting form my 608 to ship and was wondering if anyone knows if a new/2010 version of the UP-A1 Ipod dock will be coming out, or should I buy last year's model?

I asked that very question and was told that since the UP-A1 was designed for the iPhone and was 3Gs certified (whatever that means) that there wasn't going to be a new version for a while.

J&R doesn't even have the 608 in stock yet. Last week they said this week and now they are saying next week. I'm waiting on a 3D PDP TV to come and also but am tired of waiting for that also.

Last night (2230 Eastern time) on a whim I ordered the TX-SR608 from Circuity City (aka TigerDirect) via Bing for 10% off. I thought the price was decent... Until I learned about the special price at ABT. However, I already have a UP tracking number. So I can either spend the extra and have the receiver within a few days, or refuse shipment, order from ABT and wait impatiently. Since I am lazy and impatient I will probably just pay the extra and get my new toy in time for the weekend.
