For anyone that has a pre-order from J&R, call them up and say you want to cancel. They offered me another $35 off the already low pre-order price I had, and I went for it. They said they're expecting them in this week. I'm anxious to get it as soon as possible, but not anxious enough to pay $86 more to get it from Amazon.

Yeah there is a surprising lack of information on this feature if you google it. Most of the info is from 2007 or 2008 talking about how great it will be once everything has it. Well its 2010, can we get some information please??

I too was considering a Harmony remote, but if the 608's remote can control both the blu-ray player and my tv I can skip it. I just got an e-mail my unit shipped today so if by the time I get it no one has posted more info about this feature I will.

I'm going to buy one of these from electronicsforless.ca (starts shipping May 8th) unless someone knows of another Canadian retailer or etailer that is taking pre-orders. I'd rather walk into a store and grab one but I have the feeling it won't be such a good deal if I go that route.

Ahh didn't work for me. However, I did end up canceling with J&R because I ordered it from CompUSA online for $5 cheaper and in stock.

I wrote this about the 707 upgrades vs the 608
a. All discrete circuitry
b. RS-232
c. IR input
d. 12v trigger
e. Learning & Activity based remote
(I don't have a clue as to what a-e does)

Anybody know anything about these 707 features the 608 doesnt have? I also wrote that the 707 has a pre-amp out for an external power amp but the 608 doesn't... is this true?

a. reduces noise I believe
b. allows for control via serial ports (can do this over ethernet if the receiver has it like my 1007, very nice)
c. so you don't need to stick a blaster to the front of the unit, keeps it clean
d. allows you to turn on another device that allows 12v trigger, amps, motorized projector screens, etc
e. basically has macros and can learn commands from other ir remotes

For those who ordered on or before 4-12 you can expect yours to ship today from abt. Just got the word mine was shipping today. It was was worth the wait for the price they were offering.

I'm going to be asking for a harmony one from my wife for my bday to complete my HT. Oh who am I kidding it will NEVER be complete.

No doubt a harmony would be nice. But is it worth paying more for a remote control than I did for my blu-ray player? or 1/4 to 1/3rd the price of my receiver? For me not so much, for my wife definitely not, she would kill me.

Considering the remote gets used more than the blu ray player, cable/sat box, game console, yeah I think spending the money for one is a good idea. Think about it, what is the one thing you use regardless of what you are watching/playing on your system? The REMOTE!!! So why not get one that makes your life easier? My wife LOVES the Harmony One. No more messing around with multiple remotes to get everything to work. She presses one button and it all just works!

Yeah, thats why I picked CompUSA. That's how it turns out to be cheaper.. Just gotta wait to get some cash back. Now I should be able to get it by this weekend. J&R told me to wait and see if they get stock by thursday. It still sounded like a guess though.

I preordered from ABT on 4/19, and got billed in full on 4/20. Called today to find out where i stood, and was told that since i paid in full at the time of preorder (don't remember even being given an option) my order would have priority over those that may have preordered before me, but not paid in full. I'm supposed to be 3rd in line now, so mine should go out in the next batch.

Just thought those that preordered but didn't pay in full might want to know this.

I bought the harmony 510 (which is no longer made) on sale for $39.00 brand new. So, as long as you do not mind getting the older stuff, you can find great deals on harmony remotes. All harmony remotes can be programed to the new products that come out. So what if I only have a small black and white display on my remote . . .

How are you third in line? I ordered the day before you and I was told I'm 76th out of 116, so I wouldn't get the shipment from Monday. I paid in full right away.

I paid in full on the 17th, so according to what you say I should get mine before yours. I haven't received any shipping notification yet. I'm beginning to think the reps are blowing smoke up our collective asses.

We all rushed in on this deal... I'm not sure they expected that volume, I'm not sure Onkyo expected to send so many units to 1 dealer.

I think we'll be waiting longer than others ordering from ABT... I'm not sure thats ABT's fault though

I preordered on the 19th also, and was told today that I was 6th on the list after they filled the first 80. I was orirginally told I was 76 & 77 - making it into their first shipment of 80, but such is life.

Was told today they'd be getting more on Friday or Monday and since I am in the Chicago area I should get it by mid next week which is good since I need to send my 607 back to newegg.com that cost MORE.

I cancelled my order with J&R and ordered thru 10% bing cash back / tigerdirect for only $10bucks more difference from the special $430 deal I already got thru J&R, in which 10bucks is no biggie for me. I ordered it last night and I already have a tracking number and onkyo is already shipped. Best thing I've already done since J&R told me it could be 1 to 2 more weeks. I've already been waiting 6 weeks with new 7.1 polk audio speakers with no receiver... Would be nice if this showed up this Friday so I can play over the weekend. Will keep you guys informed.

Well, I didn't get the "deal" but, I ordered mine from Amazon on Mon afternoon and, it has shipped with an arrival date of 4/28 w/next day prime shipping.
