I'm supposed to be 3rd in line now, so mine should go out in the next batch.

Just thought those that preordered but didn't pay in full might want to know this.

I noticed today on my bank account that ABT had taken the remaining balance due for my receiver. I called them to ask if it had been shipped and why i hadnt been notified. They said it shipped today and they send out the email notifications after 7pm Chicago time on the day they ship out. So i should be getting my tracking number in an hour or so.

I preorderd my receiver on 4/13 at around 7pm Arizona time and i only put a $40 deposit on it.

I own a Harmony 900 and have had it for a month now. I love it. I do not get the calls from my wife any more asking me how to watch a DVD, TV, or music. Just hit 1 button and it does the rest.

I belevr the only difference between the Harmony One and the 900 is the RF blasters and mini blasters. I needed them because my components are hidden in the hall way. I paid $198 for it brand new from Amazon.

I got the email from Abt with tracking number.....but only after calling and asking for it.
I noticed my credit card was charged for the remaining amount, called ABT and inquired today as well, and was told mine was shipping today and I would have a tracking number this evening...

No tracking number yet, but considering I am in Milwaukee, WI, shipping from ABT in Chicago should only take 1 day, so I expect to receive it either tomorrow the 28th or Thursday the 29th at the latest...

Which is fine for me, since I received my cable order from Monoprice, but they are missing like 9 cables from my order, including a bunch of 14ft long Cat6 ethernet cables I need to relocate my wireless router when I redo the entertainment system with the new receiver... So, unless I can find a suitable cable here locally tomorrow, I will have to wait until Thursday anyways to install it...

I just live-chatted with Abt. The order shipped today by UPS. Woot!

Only needs to go to Madison, so I hope it's quick.

I ordered mine on 4/17.

Stayed up last night until 6:45 am. I was hooking everything up. I'm beyond tired today but atleast I got everything hooked up and ready to roll. I have owned many Onkyo's receivers before and without a doubt this 608 runs waaaaay cooler than any of them! Normally the Onkyo's are almost too hot to leave your hand on top of it but this thing stays cool, love that. Tested out some blu-rays, I have the volume set to relative and even at -30 volume it is rocking my living room. The Incredible Hulk sounds well....Incredible (excuse the pun,).

One negative I do have thus far is I'm getting the annoying relay click whenever it transitions from different audio codecs which is super annoying at start of disc with constant clicking between trailers and the menu. It also does the click whenever I fast forward double speed. I'm using a ps3 slim for reference. The second negative which may infact be caused by PS3 and receiver syncing up, when skipping chapters sometimes on the discs it takes like 5 seconds before the audio syncs again and starts playing, even though the video keeps playing after the skipped chapter so it just plays with no audio for around 5 seconds or so. I'm sure a PS3 update could and would fix this as the ps3 has had this same issue before on some recievers and got firmware updates to correct it.

I'm gonna watch and play some more with it tonight after the NBA playoffs are over. The bang for buck on this thing seems unbelievable thus far, definately gonna be a huuuge seller and wouldn't be surprised once they street everywhere and word gets out on it's performance that they will be hard to come by. Oh forgot to comment on the GUI, I LOVE IT! It is so nice and convenient to be able to see and pull up the info while still staying in the movie your watching. I think it looks sleek too.

Now, anybody got any advice on how to get rid of the constant relay clicks? I remember my Onkyo 805 I used to have did this and I've seen others comment on other Onkyo models that do the same thing.

LOL, I just finished setting mine up tonight.. What fun that was.. But hey, I got rid of a lot of optical cables, HDMI switcher and a lot of clutter behind my stand. Hardest part was getting my Harmony to match inputs and run it all correctly.

Yes, the GUI does rock! Coming from a Harmon/Kardon from 2003 this is fantastic! I can't believe what is in this small package ( compared to the harmon.. large and heavy)

As for the clicking.. I noticed this too. My Harmon did it on occasion but this seems to do it whenever I switch inputs or codecs.

Can't wait until I can crank this baby up and see how she really performs!

I believe you are correct, but the company is given 30 days to deliver the product. Typically a company doesn't charge the full price until the item is shipped to avoid any legal issues.

I had an Onkyo HT-RC160 for three months before returning it to Costco. The TX-SR680 runs a LOT cooler than the HT-RC160 thanks to the fan.

Here are some pics of the OSD/GUI with everything connected via HDMI.

I am keen on these new Onkyo's for my home office, primarily to connect my fullsize headphones (Senn HD380-PRO 54 ohms & Beyer DT880 32 Ohms), the source would be my HTPC (Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H- Nvidia 9400) using HDMI connection.

I have few requests:
1> If any of you happen to have some fullsize headphones, would like your opinion on the sound quality out of the headphone jack (hoping it can drive decent impedence phones)
2> If connected to a PC via HDMI - curious how the MS-Windows (Vista/7) is showing the sound output properties in the playback devices?

very nice pics...... thanks so much... keep the GUI pics coming!

right now I have my 50" plasma, htpc, bic f12 su, and soon my onkyo 608 on the same circuit. Does anyone think I'll have a problem with all this on a single 15 amp circuit?

Well I'm pretty happy. Just got my abt email @10min after midnight. UPS says it shipped out at 8:26pm and will be here on Friday. I'm really happy as I really wanted it for this weekend.

I placed my order on the 13th, so I'm sure a few of you, like badfish602, should also have their unit on the way
