At the same time though, if you can find it for $300 or so (and not the $400 it retails for), it is a good value. As a previous owner of all of Sony's soundbars, the CT350 is a solid entry but honestly only barely advances the name (if that). The subwoofer isn't near as good but does come alive at higher levels (which is good). Even with that though, the sub just doesn't feel alive like the previous two sony soundbars. The soundbar itself is definitely louder than the CT100 but in my opinion doesn't have the power of the CT500.
Build quality isn't bad as I would argue that the subwoofer cabinet has improved. The soundbar itself though feels cheap and not near as nice as the previous two sony offerings.
Sound quality wise, it feels very much like the CT100 with better voice dialogue. The surround effect feels the same in that it is basically just coming from the front as this is still truly a 3.1 system. It's still not perfect though and again doesn't best the CT500 which is a shame with how much time they had to top it. It doesn't get as loud as the CT500 but I imagine it would be fine in a medium living room without much issue.
Still, I recommend it to anyone. As long as you can get the CT350 for around $300 or so, it's a good deal. At the same time though, if you could find a CT100 new for under $200, I would have a hard time recommending the CT350 for over $100 more. I would almost classify the new sony soundbars as marginally better than the original ones if that. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they just slapped the 3D passthrough on the box and shipped it (like the Amazon reviewer states) but they have done very little to advance their technology that was simply amazing for the cost when the CT100 came out.
For me, the ZVOX 425 has changed my thinking when it comes to audio. I still think my 425 sounds better which is leading me towards keeping it and selling the CT350. That's a pretty bold statement as the 425 is just analog audio compared to the HDMI audio found on the CT350. I will give it a few days though as I want to give it a fair shot.
Please don't take my impressions as negative as I am just comparing it directly to the previous two sony soundbars which I have owned.
I will report back throughout the weekend with more impressions.
Hey YOTR,,,,, good review,, but I was suprised that you seem to be not to impressed with the CT-350,,,,,, I think I like my CT-150 more than you liked your CT-350.
You mentioned sticking with your Zvox,,,,,, your not interested in the soon to be released Vizio's ???
Im getting ready to send back my CT-150 as I really think the Vizio VHT510 is going to be the "one".
