Sony HT-CT150 and CT350 - Page 2

Yea, but I was going to use the three HDMI for the Tivo, PS3 and Xbox360 so an additional component would be easier. Guess its not that big of a deal, I can just run the Wii straight to the TV with a separate audio cable.

Has anyone preordered the HT-CT350? The cheapest online price I could find is $326.99 at macmall while everywhere else is $399.

I'm looking for those new soundbar. I understand I can used HDMI to hook up PS3. Can I use HDMI to connect to TV? I want to use soundbar instead of TV speaker while i'm watching TV.

what HDMI 1.4 cable u guys use? or I can use standard HDMI cable?

Pick up hdmi cables from here.

Then just run hdmi cable from ps3 and cable box to soundbar, and a hdmi cable from the soundbar to the hdtv. Then in the tv settings turn off the speaker so you only get sound from the soundbar.

Does anyone happen to have the Sony HT-CT 350 and could post a review? Anyone? Also, can anyone give me the BEST settings for a Samsung LN46B610 LCD TV. I am using mostly for blu rays hd directv and my ps3 games also, wii.

Just got the HT-CT350 today. I just hooked it up, but won't have time to listen until tomorrow. I, like someone else on this forum, returned a Samsung HW-C450 in favor of the HT-CT350. I did think the sound from the Samsung was very good, but too few connections.

Where did you get it from? sony.com?

I haven't had an opportunity to listen to it yet, but I can say the box was a heavy beast, maybe twice as heavy as the Samsung box

So you have not listened to it yet? could you please give a detailed review though thank you haha i wanna see if the system is actually good before dropping 400 on it.

I'm in the process of deciding between the CT350 and a Bose Cinemate II. Yea yea... Bose. I have a chance to buy a "nused" one from a buddy for a lower price than the CT350. The Bose seems like a decent buy as it sounded pretty good at his house. I was hoping to be able to listen to the CT350 in person... Anyone know when stores will begin to carry them?

I tried out a Bose Cinemate II in my house and was fairly impressed with it,,, I thought it stood up pretty good compared with the Sony CT100, CT500 and the Vizio soundbar /wireless sub,,, I have owned all of them,,, (still own the Vizio).

If you can get the Bose really cheap grab it,, if you dont like it you can always sell it on eBay and perhaps make a few bucks off it.

Well, after a weekend of listening and making adjustments, I have to say that I really like it. At first, it sounded a bit thin compared to the Samsung hw-c450, but with some tweaks, I was able to make it sound fuller. The bar itself is nearly 40" long, which seems to help with the simulated surround. The subwoofer is absolutely enormous compared to the Samsung wireless subwoofer. I have the subwoofer set to 0 and it provides a good amount of bass. The sound field settings all seem to work well, unlike the Samsung, where I didn't care for the settings at all. Feel free to ask any questions. I'll answer if I can.

How good or bad is the surround effect ?

How is the dialog with movies ?

Do you have reflecting walls to bounce the sound off of ?

I have the htct350 in the master bedroom, so it's probably the ideal room for a soundbar. The room is 15x20 and the soundbar faces the shorter side of the room. The surround sound effect is decent enough that my ears have been tricked into thinking there was sound coming from behind me while watching a blu-ray. The dialogue is great. I love that you can turn up the center channel. I have it set at +2. To br fair, though, i thought the Samsung did a great job with dialogue too, even though there was no center channel. The Sony has a much better surround effect than the Samsung.

I like the Sony better and i'm planning on keeping it. The plethora of adjustments and connections, plus the better surround effect, make it a keeper for me.

One caveat: I haven't turned the volume up past 25, so I can't really give an opinion on how loud it can get, but at 25 my wife told me that i better turn it down or else.

I can't comment on the other Sony soundbars or the Vizio as I haven't owned them.

I almost wish that I had of just got it from sonystyle, but with BCB and the sale price, I ordered if for $316 shipped. I just got a new KDL52EX700, and I am hoping that it will work well with the new TV.

If I may, I would like to ask a question about the remote.

I would like to use this system with my TV and DVR. Right now I use the DVR (FIOS) remote to control both. Does this system have a code that could be entered into my DVR controller? Would rather not have to use 2 controllers if at all possible.

My pleasure, guys. As to the remote, it seems to be pretty full featured. Unfortunately, from my reading of the manual, it seems it will only control Sony components. That's a shame as it seems to have a robust set of features.

I had my fingers crossed, but in my case I am afraid this would be a deal breaker for me. My 86 year old mother lives with me and I am not always there when she wants to watch tv. She has enough problems with one remote. I am afraid 2 would be out of the question.

Why not get a harmony remote and program it for her? I would be lost without mine. I have one for the bedroom, and another for the living room.
