My CT350 was delivered yesterday and I'm very pleased with what I'm hearing. Really excellent clarity on dialog even with the center speaker set at 0. I was previously using the CT100 and usually had center set at +4 to +6 in order to hear softly spoken sections. I'm also noticing much more surround effect which is a (pleasant) surprise since my viewing room is very audio-challenged.
Although I haven't had time to really play with settings to see if it can get even better, it's doing a great job so far with my testing. I've played back sections from the blu-rays of The Dark Knight
, Master & Commander
, and 3:10 to Yuma
. I chose those because they all have loud action scenes and dialog that ranges from whispers to shouting. I've also played back a couple of TV dramas from my DVRs.
I'm not an audiophile looking for the holy grail of perfection.
I just want good rich tones, clear dialog, and to occasionally be blown out of my chair by a loud explosion.
As for non-audio observations, true the cloth cover on the bar isn't as nice as the grill on the CT100 but it's not that
bad. My one complaint is a small one. The LED display on the SW is small and very dim (yes, I have the dimmer turned off). The CT100 was much brighter and easier to read. Once I'm done playing with settings that won't be a problem really.
If I've learned anything from reading all the threads in this section it's that what sounds pleasing to one person is lacking to someone else. For me, the CT350 is a keeper.
I'd also like to thank all the regular posters to these threads as I've learned so much from them.
