Very Dim LCD TV

Hi guys,

I just got a Sony Bravia 40 inch and have mounted it in my basement. However, the screen looks very dim for some reason, and it is not great for watching. What is the best way to fix this? Maximize the LCD backlight, adjust the brightness settings? Thanks!

Try setting backlighlight, brightness, and contrast all at 50%. Then adjust backlighting and brightness as necessaryt to get a bright but not washed out display. Lastly change the contrast to improve the contrast between darker objects.

Make sure you're not in theater mode and also check the power saving option under General Setup in the menu. PS should be off or low, high will be a very dim picture no matter what your other settings are.
