Maybe, I did ask Samsung support about this and they weren't helpful at all.

Although it would be very nice to have all of the appropriate cover art I haven't found the time to figure out what/where this information needs to be within the MP3 file container.

Hi. I picked up the Samsung BD-C5500C at Costco yesterday. I knew I was in for some experimentation with the DLNA stuff from some of my reading.

On an old XP machine which I keep around basically to share media using TVersity: the C5500C could not get any media to play.

On my newer machine running Windows VistaSP@ 64-bit I tried a few other media servers. These include:

Mezzmo: server kept disconnecting, videos played haltingly and for only 15 seconds at a time before skipping to the next one in the folder. From what I read they're working on a patch which I am anxious to try.

Serviio: pictures streamed great (even across different user accounts) but attempts to play video locked up the player with profile Wiselink Profile A. All other profiles yielded no contents of any folders.

Samsung PC Share Manager: This worked the best. Videos .mp4 from my Flip Ultra HD played smooth as did other .avi/divx files I had. I was able to jump forward and back as well. I didn't try any music yet. What disappointed me though was that the 'My Pictures' folder from my wife's user account which is shared shows up but when you click it there are no files in it. It only seemed to index the pictures on the local account. (mine). This is too bad since all the good pictures are on her profile.

Is this a known limitation of SPCSM? Thanks.

Today I tried the Serviio Wiselink Profile C (which seemed more appropriate for the BD-C5500C) and after a reboot, videos, audio and images played very well, even across user profiles. However it didn't share another computer's files on the network.

I have a Samsung BDC-6500, and a Windows XP PC. Using PCSM 4.10.
I have a folder with about 5500 mp3 titles. The first time I loaded the Share Manager in the Blu-Ray, the folder fully loaded, and I was able to use the shuffle feature to pay files from throughout the folder. However, since then, the player will only load 101 pages or about 800 titles, and always the first files in the folder, alphabetically.
Is there any way to adjust the Share Manager or player settings to allow the entire folder to load and play?
By the way, I don't know if this is important or not, but that first time, the default image that displayed with each title was of a sax player. Since then it has been musical notes.

I've spent lots of time reading all the post on this topic and i'm confused as to why only one person has done the obvious which is use win7 Media player which is a DLNA certified player? I have many DLNA devices include phones(samsung), tv, pc and win7 media center works with them all.

[to clarify on 6/13 almostinsane is the only person to say, hey just use win7 out of the box]

Does anybody know if the Samsung player will act as a DMR (digital media render)? This basically will let you go into win media center a do the 'play to' feature, or do this from a cell phone with dlna to 'send' content to a tv or pc.

I concur, and was about to ask, what the new version brought to the table as the description was pretty weak: "Digital media server for windows"

There is no such Option in the LE46C650 (latest firmware)/PCSM4.2.

Anyone who tries PCSM 4.2, please report back if it automatically updates when new files are added. That to me is one of the two main problems with previous versions (the other being taking forever to build database, and getting stuck on certain files, without any error messages or logfiles to know what's wrong).

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it never has and still doesn't update automatically when files are added to the shared folder.

Interesting, when I run the program it has always been reasonably quick to build the data base, or never gotten stuck on a particular file...

Hi, I bought the model SAMSUNG BD C-5300 (http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/t...ype=prd_detail) and as you can see on the samsung website it seem to be ALL SHARE ready. I used my ethernet lan and while Internet@tv is ok I don't manage to have communication between the bluray and the PC.....Is there anybody who knows if this feature is only by wireless or there is a mistake in the details?

It will work the same wireless or wired (I use wired but different unit). Make sure you have associated or allowed the BD at the PC or the BD will not see it. I remember spending some time to get working OK by doing Google searches on how to set-up. Did not find documentation for Samsung PC Share that I use. There are other software choices too. /Dan

I also have FiOS and no issues with Internet@TV on the Samsung BD-5500C. I use the D-Link DIR-825 router.

What DLNA software did you install on your PC? If you installed the Samsung software, did you enable the device to have permission to access your media from within the program?

Yes, I used the Samsung software and enabled the permission without success and now I was thinking that the DLNA was possible only with wireless (on the website is written wirelesly) since I didn't manage to do that even if I followed the instructions for 5500 (on the manual of the 5300 there is nothing about ALL SHARE)

So can we get rid of the .mta files then re-index?

Generally speaking you're better off with wired anyway. That's not your issue. I recommend Serviio.

Hmmm well I guess PCSM 4.2 a try, see if it's able to finish indexing this time; I've given it over a week before and it never finished. Ziimen's comment that it no longer freezes on some avi files makes we wonder if it still freezes on some others. (It's not clear to me if he means they fixed it for the some files that didnt work before. or only fixed it for some of the ones that didnt work before).

It really does seem like automatically updating when new files appear would be a basic feature tho.

I'd also always deleted *.mta with no noticeable side affects.

I downloaded pcsm 4.2 and was no longer able to stream all my files stored on an external hardrive attached to my computer to my bd c6500. I have reverted back to 4.1 for now. Hopefully this will change in a future version as I have had no problems streaming any files so far with pcsm. I do not see any reason why you should not be able to stream files from an evternal drive in the first place....

Those .mta files are required for "chaptering". When PCSM (up to v4.1) refreshes its database, it creates mta files for those movie files that dont have a .mta file yet.

The .mta files are XML structured files and provide automatic chapters every X minutes, so that you can jump to those points while playing the movie.

When you play a movie file via DLNA, press the enter button (center) on the remote. Then you can jump to those chapter points in the movie.

Since PCSM 4.2, a DB refresh does not create mta files anymore, but leaves existing mta files intact.

So if you need auto chapters for new movies, you have to go back to PCSM 4.1

Well, thats at least what I found out by trial and error - however I have no clue if Samsung considers this change an error or not ..
