Those .mta files are required for "chaptering". When PCSM (up to v4.1) refreshes its database, it creates mta files for those movie files that dont have a .mta file yet.
The .mta files are XML structured files and provide automatic chapters every X minutes, so that you can jump to those points while playing the movie.
When you play a movie file via DLNA, press the enter button (center) on the remote. Then you can jump to those chapter points in the movie.
Since PCSM 4.2, a DB refresh does not create mta files anymore, but leaves existing mta files intact.
So if you need auto chapters for new movies, you have to go back to PCSM 4.1
Well, thats at least what I found out by trial and error - however I have no clue if Samsung considers this change an error or not ..
