Help with the perfect remote

I have TWC with an SA HD DVR. My components are all connected to my Onkyo 805 via HDMI. The remote that came with the DVR is the standard AT8550. It is the perfect size and is very ergonomic. All the buttons for my dvr are in the right place and it fits my hand perfectly. I hate to give it up!

I only want to control my TV, DVR, and Receiver (volume and on/off). My trusty SA8550C will not do all that. The new TWC UR5U-8700L-TWA will do it all but is terrible to hold and the button positions are very wrong?

I just need a simple remote that will control my tv, dvr, and receiver and be as ergonomic as the AT8550C.

I would like to contact the manufacture to see if my SA 8550C can be updated or if they have a later model. Does anyone know who makes this remote?

Just get another one from ebay. If not, get an Atlas OCAP, Insignia ns-rc01g-09, RCA RCRP05B. Both are very similiar to your old remote and have and same codes and are made by the same company as your old remote (UEI). The RCA is $7 shipped from ebay or $20 at walgreens and best buy. It's a much better remote than your old one since it can also learn and has several other advanced features. HERE's a listing with both the insignia and RCA. I'm partial to the insignia for it's smaller size and better layout, IMO.

Many thanks! Is the Insignia programable?

All that I listed are nearly identical to your old remote programming and code-wise, including the insignia. But not just any insignia, just the one I listed. The RCA and Insignia are also learning. The can even be programmed from your PC if you get a JP1 cable.
