that top will add a few pounds of mass which will be needed and will certainly look rich,, now the pressure is on the side finish,,

shellac is a good first step for surface preparation but I weould not count on it to load up enough to fill the laminate voids,, would try some form of clear wood glue mixed with the plywood sawdust to make up a putty for filler,, would be the best match,,

when are you going to glass the interior,,?? anxious to see that step,,

The guy at the granite shops estimates the slab will weigh 100 lbs. He was concerned my project couldn't support it. I assured him that won't be a problem.

I'm not glassing the interior. I've given it 3 coats of epoxy.

Do you think the home brew wood filler would be better than Minwax's stainable wood filler?

Me too, unfortunately right now I'm just doing the sanding. One of the most important parts of the whole thing, but certainly the most unexciting. I can't do the template for the granite until I've got it to its finished state so the appearance of enclosure isn't going to change for some time.

Finished pics? You either over estimate my ability and available time, or under estimate the work involved with this. I'm still a ways away from finishing, but here is where I'm at. I've finally finished shaping and contouring the enclosure. The trickiest parts was getting the line formed by the intersection of the cube and cylinder to be straight. As well getting the top and bottom lines to be mirror images of each other. Now I can do the fine sanding to remove the scratches and smooth the surface.

when I was cutting yet some more circles with my jigsaw on my wall today, I thought of this build. I've only cut 4 holes per wall board, 5 wall boards... 20 cuts... plus double cut one to make it counter sunk.. up to 25 now... cut out my front stage, 8 speakers, and again for a double baffle.. 16 total there.

But that ain't CRAP compared to this! I, my friend, do NOT underestimate your work and your progress here. I know full well what it's like to work for hours, take a few pics, post them, and it looks like not much got done.

I haven't been posting any pics because the sanding part is kinda like the close up of the guys face; who cares get on with the good stuff already.

First off: Thanks for the video fix. I feel much better now.
Second: That sub is looking fracking impressive. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Third: That’s one h.ll of a work room you have there. I kept playing the video over and over checking out all your equipment. Nice and clean too.
Fourth: I’ve decided not to post any pictures with my build thread. After this one, I’ll just feel embarrassed.

The shop isn't so clean anymore, compared to the pics at the start of the thread. It's going to take me a full day of cleaning all the dust before I can start finishing the wood.

Shout out to the guys with wood working experience.
Does it matter what stage of sanding I coat the surface with wood filler to fill in all the little holes and gaps? I just finished sanding with 120, should I do it now while the grit is coarse enough to easily take the filler off, or wait til the final sanding with 180?

Sand down all the ridges with 80 grit then apply the filler then smack it with the 120.... and proceed to do a final with 220 and 320 the more you go the denser surface you'll get...when you finish sanding apply a wood sealer then sand again with 400..then you'll be ready for the final finish.

I read that if you're using a top coat finish like varathane, epoxy, etc its pointless going past 180/220 because that fine of scratches get filled in and become invisible and it gives a better surface to bond to. I don't have any practicle experience so I'm not sure if that is the case
