Best looking game currently on market?

Just got a new HTPC (mostly gaming truth be told) with a ATI 5850 and wondering what game to get to show it off and have fun.

Any suggestions? ATM im thinking Bioshock 2.

This is a very subjective topic.

People still tend to go nuts over Crysis, but I think it is highly overrated.

Metro 2033 looks great at max settings, but it devastates any current single-GPU card under such circumstances.

Just Cause 2 also looks great in a different way, and your card will handle it at max settings. I find myself sightseeing a lot in that game.

If you like racing games Dirt 2 looks pretty amazing when maxed out. The lighting, water, and particle effects look pretty damn good. Much better than the console versions and I believe it runs at a higher frame rate too.

I'm in the minority here, but I thought MW2 looked great on the PC, and that might be mostly because its such a huge, massive increase over the console version.

Metro look amazing as mentioned, but is tough on systems, and has a dark, gritty style to it so while its amazing from a technical standpoint, its not exactly beautiful to look at.

I'm still impressed with Batman Dark Asylum. The character models could use some work but the textures are super sharp and the animation is nice.

I might be in the minority here and maybe it's because I don't own a super rig to play it really maxed out but Crysis (and more recently Warhead) to me isn't the end all be all best looking game ever. It has really nice HDR and lighting and particle effects but the character models could use some work and the animations are OK but nothing world beating. Textures are nice though. The voice acting is eh and the direction of the cut scenes definitely shows their limitations in production values. It's a decent overall game but if they could let Valve use their engine to remake HL2 and keep it's high production values oh man I'd be super stoked. lol

Oh I know but with lots of suggestions or most agreeing on a game it helps to narrow down the choice

Mass Effect 1 & 2 are still two of the best looking games going, Mirror's Edge (but you don't have a PhysX card, and there's lots of PhysX effects in it).

you are definitely on the right path with these suggestions.
bioshock 1 & 2 look incredible with a bunch to gawk at scenery and mood wise.
MW2 is very nice on max settings.
gears of war looks great and your card will handle it.
but crysis on max is still #1 to me.

edit-i forgot, UT3 is cheap on steam and seems to pop off of my screen.

The general rule is that the Unreal Engine 2.5/3 games still impress most people in terms of visual quality and performance. As you can see, many of these games have been recommended.

Aside from those games, if you want beautiful visuals and what could be long-lasting fun, give Just Cause 2 a shot.

The 2008 Prince of Persia is the best looking game. Obviously this is subjective but to me the art, design and engine came together to make a spectacularly gorgeous game.

It looks pretty good but the game itself is sort of a grind.

Might not be the best, but I think Bad Company 2 looks pretty nice on the PC.

I agree with Just Cause 2, great color pallette, varied environments, and fun to play.

Easily Metro 2033.

Eh it's a good looking game but I wouldn't say it's "easily" the best. I know this is all subjective though so I'll give you that. The game does have good lighting effects though. The DOF is amazing too.

Crysis is really good looking and it's cheap these days. I also really like the look of Just Cause 2.

Flight Simulator X looks great on my 5870 Mobility

Well ended up with a free copy Dark void which is based on the unreal engine. Very nice looking and fun to play (well till i get to using the jet pack).

Still so many games to play and so little time.

Dark Void requires a controller, mouse and keyboard are horrible. I don't think it makes the best looking games list, but I enjoyed playing it.

I don't think I ever enjoyed the jet pack in the game though. Just awkward.

Need For Speed: SHIFT PC, best looking car cockpits. Very nice looking tracks.
DiRT2 for ...well the dirt .
Metro 2033 if you have the GPU horsepower required.

Far cry 2 also looks good
