For those interested. Its seems like a nice upgrade. maybe if i ever get cable again, i'll pick on up. The possible future unlocking of the paired pc requirement is a huge plus.

Nice to see a hands-on review of a much anticipated product. I've already got my pre-order in for one. I hope to become Tivo-free when that day arrives.

I am on the preorder list as well. Once this set of upgrades is complete (removing two ATI DCTs, replacing with one Ceton InfiniTV 4 and one HVR-2250,) I will be at 8 tuners in this beast.

4 Cablecard
3 ClearQAM (1/2 of HVR-2250, 2 via HDHomerun)
1 Analog (1/2 of HVR-2250)

So I'm psyched about this, but was wondering if there's a place to research and see which channels my cable provider (comcast, Denver area) has labeled as "copy freely"? I really need to be able to stream channels to other PC's in the house. I just want to stream the "basic" cable channels and don't have premium channels (HBO, etc) so I don't care about those.

Also, maybe I missed it in the review, but does anyone know if it's possible to change channels from the remote PCs?

It would be a little off-topic but I would try asking the question in the Denver HDTV or Denver Comcast HDTV (if they have one for Comcast Denver) and see if anyone has a Windows 7 HTPC with the ATI cards.

You can't stream channels, only recordings without DRM. Unless you have an extender connected.

From all i have read, CBS, FOX, NBC, and ABC are always 'copy freely' from every cable provider.

Thanks for posting this review, as a Fios subscriber I was glad to see that they used fios as their cable source for the review. I'm not willing to pay $400 but when they or their competition come out with the dual tunner version for $250 I'll be the first inline.

The DVR from fios can only record maybe 15-20 hours of video, which is very frustrating, add the hassle of switching back and forth from DVD to fios, and the ability to watch streaming movies from netflix and this is going to be great. I might never leave the couch.
