I seem to have a weird blinking issue with my PN58C7000 that only happens periodically when watching a bluray movie (ie it never happens when gaming or watching cable tv). When a movie transitions to a scene with a black screen (normally during the credits and title sequences at the beginning of a movie), the TV seems to blink off for a split second before coming back on and displaying the next scene.

I'm not sure what is causing the issue since it only occurs when watching a bluray movie.

The bluray player, as are all my other components (cable box, ps3, xbox) are connected to the TV through a Pioneer VSX 1020 by hdmi highspeed cables.

Anyone else have this issue or know how to resolve it?

Thanks

i have same tv - noticed blinking during netflix playback and first attributed it to internet stuff. then was watching recorded show this am and it had same blinking. went to live tv and it was fine. never with blueray - could this all be related?

Someone else mentioned setting the brightness value to something higher then 45 appears to stop that.

I have the blink while watching regular cable TV (lasts 4-5 seconds) and also with Netflix (less than a second).

I took video of the Netflix issue last night. Please call netflix to report this, and tell them it's become a common issue on Samsung products (they will tell you to contact Samsung, but they will also begin having a record of us calling in and can talk to Samsung directly on our behalf).

That's a negative, ghost rider. My brightness is set to 49 (always has been), and I have this issue in a bad way. My blinks don't happen in bright or dark scenes exclusively...there doesn't seem to be any commonalities in when it happens.

Weird. maybe its a firmware issue

For anyone that has... does this allow the c7000 to show 1080p/24?

I'm convinced the Netflix blink is due to the 1032 f/w and App updates -- the release notes indicated this f/w rev had to do with the Netflix UI change. I had no Netflix video drop-outs previously.

The blinking others are describing for cable/sat/OTA/blu-ray sources is a different beast. I posted a note on the CNET's Samsung board (along with many others) and we're waiting for a response (the Samsung rep has been at CES). The drop-outs affect the entire lineup... I'm hoping there is some commonality (video processing / hardware / f/w setting???).

Great, my video clip was removed. I need to find content to stream that is not copyrighted so I can actually show the video to Samsung, Netflix, and anyone else necessary to get this problem fixed.

Since then none of the samsung plasmas have gone on sale.

The cheapest deal is the pn50c8000 for $1650 but Amazon has already had it at $1550 before. I tried looking on slickdeals' posts from last year to see when hdtvs went on sale in January but didn't really find anything.

Is the tv sales after CES and before the super bowl just a myth? Looking for an lg 50px950, Samsung pn50c7000 or Samsung pn50c8000... preferrably the 8000 but price definitely matters. I bought an Onkyo ht-rc270 about 2 weeks ago and would love to have a great plasma to put it with.

Can anyone voice their opinion on the upsides of the 8000 vs the 7000 particularly on the 1080p/24 issues and black filter.

Check out Abt or OneCall. They are both authorized dealers and have great service. You can call them and they will give you a much better price.

I am waiting on a 63C7000 form Abt they gave me a great deal. Damn snow storm delayed receiving it a week though, ugh....

Read through this thread and the "did I just turn my 7000 into an 8000 thread there are a lot posts to you other questions

I just bought a mount, but have yet to mount the TV.

Has anyone else wall-mounted? There are small screws near the VESA M8 threaded holes (above and below the upper and lower holes, respectively). I *think* the instructions say to remove these screws, but the translated English makes me unsure if this is actually what they are telling one to do.

Anyone know? These screws are kind of in the way... they just barely prevent the mounting brackets that attach to the TV from being totally flush with the back of the TV. But I don't want to remove a screw that shouldn't be removed.

Actually I think it is *not* VESA compliant. I think the reason is that the holes are too shallow. If you google around you'll hear that many people complain that the screws that come with their wall mount are too long and they need to either find shorter screws or use spacers.

The spacing of the holes and the thread size are VESA standard.

I actually had this same issue with my brackets. I just drilled out a wider hole in the bracket to make room for the screws near the top VESA holes on the TV. I didn't want to remove any screws from the TV, even if they say to remove them.

Hi! First I'd like to say thank you to this site and all you people contributing with such good tips/trix and advices! I bought the PS50c7705 which is the european equivalent to the american C8000. From what I've read and tried so far its an fantastic piece of machine. However, I am in the break in period and I'm constatly running the break in dvd. What I need your help with is... where in the service menu can I see how many hours it has been running? I followed the samsung plasma faq but the service described menu does seem to differ from my model. Maybe its not possible and I shoukd stop looking
Thanks!

I currently have a URC R50 remote and just shot them an email about the PN63C8000 and if their codes will get into the source menu.
Does anyone out there happen to have this remote and this TV or know how to get to the source menu?
What I am referring to is I have been able to set up a macro to Watch TV , but if I had the BDP on before that, I can't get the macro to change the source from TV to BDP.

If I can't get it to work, I may consider the Harmony series and I hear the One is great. So for those One owners, with this TV or PN series, can you get the sub menu's on the remote and help me do what I am asking?

I bought the WMNC1000 for my 8000 and love it. Was very nervous at first since instructions tell you to install wall discs about 7 inches apart and studs as we know are not that close to each other. So luckily where I wanted the unit to go I got one stud and then used the butterfly type screw for the other disc. Very clean looking and tight to the wall.

Just like hanging a picture

Just ordered the PN58C7000 from Abt. I've never done business with them before and their reviews are mixed. The TV comes with a 3d bundle (3d DVD player and Shrek 3D starter kit) and seems to be a good deal.

Wish me luck!

I'll let you know how it goes...

I got my 63 from them and unfortunately it died 3 days later (just dumb luck) and they shipped a new one out 2 days later and picked up the old one.

IMO very good CS and got a smoking deal from them. Thanks to Tamie!

ABT offered me a great deal on the PN50C8000. The bundle deal expires on the 15th.

I have a gift card to Amazon and if I get the bundle through Amazon I can return the 3d-blu-ray player for $200 back. (I own a PS3).

So I'll be waiting to see if today or tomorrow Amazon's price drops and if not I'll go through ABT.

I am getting real nervous about the amount of people reporting problems with the blinking. As soon as anyone hears any news about the blinking let us know please. On the CNET forum someone said the posted a video of 7 blinks in a 2.5 minute period but it got deleted.

I'm the one who had the 7 blinks...I posted a video on Yotube and they rejected it...posted it on Daily Motion and it lasted there for half the day before it was removed. The clip was an episode of NBC's Heroes.

Sorry for repeating myself as I posted this in the 6500 owner's thread as well, but since the 6500 and 7000 probably have the same panel, I was hoping to get some help here.
When I got my new 58C6500, I was overly cautious about breaking it in correctly. I scoured the internet and found a post somewhere where you could download a image file (of break-in slides) that I burned to a DVD. I popped that into my Blu-ray player and watched the screen gradually go through the whole color spectrum. (Boring !)
When the screen is COMPLETELY white I noticed that I have a section maybe a fourth to a fifth of the screen width in the center from top to bottom that has a bluish tinge to it. I don't see the remnants of the streak in any other of the colors. Just white. I thought to myself "Well, nothing is perfect". My wife hasn't noticed it yet (it's apparent to me with very light scenes, i.e. snow, etc.) The scene towards the end of Inception it is very noticeable. I also notice it on commercials when the background is white.
I also, through the SM, changed the model to a C8000, and have the latest firmware.
Just wondering if anyone else has this same problem, and if I should return it and hopefully get another one without the "streak".
I love the picture (other than this), and I thinks it's a great TV for the money.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

How well does the C8000 (or c7000 with change) do with 1080p/24Hz?
-does it have a 48Hz, 72Hz, or 96Hz option?

I just used the spacers (square washers) that came with the mounting hardware for the bracket (monoprice ultraslim) they were *just* thick enough to lift the bracket away from the TV back enough to clear those screw heads.

BTW, I had to use 12mm M8x1.25 screws. 16mm as was suggested by others in this thread, were too long.
I have a 3d bluray player, but the only way for me to get a 3d picture is to turn on the 2d to 3d option on my tv. Shouldn't a 3d disc automatically be in 3d and the light on the left front panel be illuminated indicating a 3d signal. The light is never on, so am I really getting a legitimate 3d signal to my tv?
