I have a PN63C8000, and have been very pleased with it, but tonight I tried playing Kung Fu Panda 2 3D and was disappointed to find that it isn't playable. I have a Sony BDP-S570, and both TV and BD player have the latest software updates. The first time I tried the disc it just displayed a notice that I needed the latest upgrades to play the disc. The second time I tried, it started the movie, but there are many scenes that just look blurry - presumably because of some incompatibility. I have about a dozen 3D movies and this is the first one that has had issues.

Has anybody else been able to display Kung Fu Panda 2 in 3D on a PNxxC8000? I suspect it is the TV, but I suppose it could also be the player.

If I were a betting man I would say the problem is in your blu ray player

I understand you say it has the latest updates

will it play in 2D?

I was trolling through Sears yesterday and they had marked down a 50C7000 on clearance

who knows how many hours it has on it...but I got it for 75% off the retail price
At $499...I figure I can get the time I need from it
I know they didn't come out until about May of 2010

A while back I recall seeing something about changing a C7000 to an C8000

I have had a C8000 for more than a year and I can see where some of the menu options are different

can anyone point me to a post with those instructions?

Ah - figured it out. The problem was neither with player nor TV, but with my glasses. Weird that they sort of worked, but not quite. I have some newer ones that work fine.

Hi All,

It has been some time since I last posted. That is because I have had zero issues with my PN63C7000 until last week when I began noticing the pink/purple bands of death . Well from past experience, this set was a replacement for a B series with the white horizontal bands, If you are very nice and cooperative with the first round of service calls, Samsung will take care of you. I am way out of warranty, but Sammy is sending a tech with no charge for labor or parts. The service person, number two after I was nice to number one, adjusted my warranty date so that I am covered. I will keep you posted on what happens next. For those of you who are mad about the state of your Sammy for whatever reason, don't call until you cool down and be nice. You will be amazed

sounds like you got a lucky break

But no extended service plan?

My C8000 has needed service twice in the first 8 months I owned it

It just ran out of factory warranty...I am glad I paid the $2000 for the extra 3 years

These things..IMO..are throw away items these days if you actually have to pay to fix them

and..they are not the most reliable things around as well

I just got my pn63c8000 back from service center. They claim samsung refused the repair because they claim the TV has a burn and is not covered under warranty. Very poor service experience. The tech told me that a new panel is not even available to fix the TV. So I can't even repair my TV if I want to pay for it. Any thoughts as to how to convince samsung to re-evaluate the pink/purple banding issue on my TV. I have had the TV since 2010 and have taken every precaution to prevent burn. If my level of use, on this TV, caused burn then Samsung needs to re-evaluate the products they produce. HORRIBLE

I'm also unpleased with the way samsung/repair centers do business. My panel was replaced twice due the pink banding and last time they did it they managed to left my 3d emitters disconnected. Of course I did not noticed this until a couple days later and I'm way out of warranty and also past 90 days warranty period from service center. I decided to take a look inside and I was correct about the 3d emitters, but they were not disonnected. Looking closely I noticed they did not position the wires correctly and the wiring harness was cut. I'm so mad right now. I called them an all they say is your out of warranty.

Anyway I'd like to know the part number for this harness if someone can
Provide it. I need the one that goes from main board to 3d emitters.

That is really bad- it is weird how many different results people are having. I had my 58c8000 replaced and they didn't even look at it- replaced it sight unseen.

Samsung got back to me and said "we checked our notes" (read, when you call they make notes on "you" not just the set) and would like to extend our deepest apologies on your issue and would like you to know that we will replace the panel any any boards free of charge". This is sight unseen. The local service center is bringing all the parts next Tuesday, they also called to let me know that they had the panel and boards in stock. The last time they did this for me two years ago, they brought me a brand new panel. Fortunately for me these guys are good and very careful. They use dust off and micro cloth for the panel and boards before and after replacement. I am sorry that some of you are experiencing bad service. Maybe I just lucked out with the OC Samsung center being a good one.

I bought a new Samsung LCD from Amazon recently and for the most part its great, but I notice a lot of motion issues with the dejudder turned down to an acceptable level, also the off axis viewing is pretty bad. I'm considering trying one of these Samsung plasmas instead (gotta love Amazon's return policy)... probably the 6500 or 7000. I see a lot of reviews on amazon and comments in this thread that mention issues with these models from brightness pops, to pink lines, to even thermal expansion cracks. Sometimes it sounds like Samsungs support isn't very helpful.

Was just wondering, are most people in this thread happy with their set, or would they buy Panasonic or LCD instead if they had the chance. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to clutter the thread. Thanks!

If you haven't already returned your set. Did you turn the, I think it's called, "film mode" to off? I think it is set to auto1 or auto2, which causes weird "judder".

I would stay with the same choice

I have a 58C8000....been repaired twice under warranty
and a 50C7000....a Sears demo/floor model that seems fine

Even with the PITA repair on the 58C7000...I would still have made the same decision

I have a couple of Samsung LED's...and I think the color accuracy and black levels of the plasma beats them hands down

And...I bought BOTH the 58C8000 and the 50C7000 for just shy of $2200

I paid about $250 for 4 year performance packages for both sets


what can I have gotten with that type of picture quality for that price?

Finally got the right person at Samsung to look at the pictures of the pink/purple banding on my PN63C8000. I'm getting a new pn64d8000 with replacement 3D glasses. Persistence and remaining calm on the phone paid off.

A friend of mine had his 63" in three weeks ago with pink banding and they phoned him the day after they picked it up saying they couldn`t do anything about it. They would have tried changing panel on it but they couldn`t get one, so he got his money back. He bought a 64".

I have had mine in to be repaired for pink banding/clouding a week now and haven`t heard anything other than what the tech lady said on the phone when i called to report the fault. She got a new message on the screen now to change the power supply. Has anyone here had it changed? I`m worried that they change the power supply saying it is fixed and I find it still has pink issues... I should have had mine in three weeks ago to but I didn`t want to spend christmas with a tiny loaner.

I just came to this thread to post something about this as well. Over Christmas I noticed the purple banding/blob issue on my PN58C7000 whenever an all white screen with some text etc is on screen. I called Samsung last week and finally spoke with the local service center they assigned me to yesterday. The woman there had me fax them a copy of my purchase receipt and after I did she told me they were ordering a panel. I found this somewhat odd since no one has yet actually come to look at the TV or asked me to send them the pictures I took of the problem. I am now curious to see how this all plays out as it seemed that at least some people with this issue have had their sets replaced.

Got a message from them now that they have replaced some parts and it did not help. They have not replaced the panel cause they can`t get it anywhere. So they have contacted Samsung to get RMA as they call it. I just have to wait and see what Samsung decides.

Count me in as a PN58C7000 owner who just began seeing the pink bands on light screens after barely a year of ownership. I just registered the set online before calling customer service. There was no mention of it being past factory warranty during the call so I assume the online registration bought me another 3 months after my Dec 11 warranty expiration. They were very friendly and agreed to send a tech out in a week. To be continued...

What kind of contend you guys use to show the pink banding, my tv is showing a white line on the middle of the screen from top to bottom on dark or back scenes. I want to make sure it doesn't have the pink banding too.

I see it mostly on commercials that have a white backgrounds with some text etc. There is an XFinity ad running that I see it on a lot, there was a Hershey's Kisses ad that was running over Christmas that it was very obvious on as well. I have DVR'd a couple of programs that had these ads so I could take pictures of it and I have one attached to my post in this thread.

I also have the PBOD (Purple Band of Death) on white screens on my PN58C7000. Samsung tech just left and said they'd order a new panel. Office called and set up the install for a week from today saying the panel showed as available and would be in next Wednesday. So apparently these panels are available until I hear differently from Samsung.

I was told this as well today. I called them because they showed my issue as resolved on their online repair tracking even though no one has visited my house to see the problem or do anything. Supposedly this is something to do with the way the local repair facility handles their work orders and the Samsung rep said they had a tracking number for the panel and it should be in next week to the local repair place.

Has someone with the panel replace fix the problem completely and no problems after that. How was the experience of replacing it.
Samsung call me today and told me the same thing, next week for the new panel, I kind of scare, don't want my tv looking worse.
