Another pink bander here three months past my warranty. Calling Samsung right now.

Extended my warranty for 90 days with minimal begging. Actually, no begging. They just did it.

Yeah, I was 6 months past my warranty and they extended mine. They replaced my panel, and it all took less than a week. I was very impressed with it all. I'm most likely going to buy their extended warranty, if I can. Good luck to you guys, and I hope the pink stays away!

She also did give me the number to call in case I was interested in purchasing their extended warranty plan--anyone here take advantage of that?

Now I'm just hoping that they will be able to fix the pink band issue; from what I've read so far, the fix seems to be hit or miss...

There are some that have posted on this thread that have purchased the warranty through Samsung. Can you post the number to call about purchasing the extended warranty?

I have submitted the ticket on the Samsung website wit the description of the problem and a link to a video I have posted on youtube showing the issue.
I have received a call from samsung, I think next day. I have talked to a technician over a phone, described the problem and mentioned the youtube video I managed to record. He said that he have seen the video. He asked me if it is happening on all the inputs, etc. After few minutes he said that they will have to replace the panel, it will take up to 5 days to order a replacement and somebody will call me. After several days I did get a call and we scheduled the date for the technician to come in. Unfortunately a day before he was supposed to show up I had to unexpectedly fly to Europe and I had to call them and reschedule. I was back after a weekend and the tech showed up on Wednesday.
He did not bring a new panel, instead he played with the voltages and successfully removed the red pixels issue. We did put the TV back on the stand and he left. Before he left I took his business card. One hour after he left I started watching some PBS show about arctic. As you can imagine there was a lot of show (pure white) filmed. Well, in all the places where there supposed to be white it was purple. It was much worst than the original issue. It would not go away. It was covering the whole screen. I called the tech right away, he said that he will come back next day.
Next day he came back and try to adjust the voltage again, and it did not work. He called samsung, the support or his wife (I could not tell because he was talking in Korean )
After the conversation he said that he will have to order a new panel after all.

He explained to me that it will take about 5 days to get a replacemnet and that I will be contacted agin before they come over to replace it.

Next day I did get a call from samsung again, this time they explain again that it takes up to 5 days to get a replacment. They asked me if I'm ok with the wait. I told them that since there is no other alternative I will have to wait.

About 5 days go buy and I get another call from the tech or samsung. They tell me that the replacement panel showed up and that they can come over to put it in tomorrow. I was supposed to get a call in the AM to schedule a time when the technician will show up. I got home and nobody called me and nobody showed up.

Same evening I get another call from samsung asking me how did the repair go. I said that it did not go at all since nobody called and nobody showed up.
They asked me if my screen is damaged, cracked. I said that it is not. They follow with a question if I would be interested in getting a new TV!!!

Sure!!!

This is getting long, I know. I will get to the good part. They offered me brand new PN59D8000. Well, I took it and I'm watching it right now. It got delivered today, they took the C7000 back. It took almost a month. Some delays due to my schedule.

I have one more call left. I need to call Samsung to get them to replace my IR 3D glasses. When I was offered the replacement I asked about the glasses, they told me that it if the set comes with out them to call them back to get a replacement.

So im new to this forum and need some help. I too have the pink banding on my 50c7000. Its still under warranty. The part is indefinitely on back order so Samsung offered to replace the set. Being that we are in between models years Samsung does not have any models in the 50''/51'' size left but here are the 3 options they have given me. Need some opinions...

OPTION 1) A full cash refund of $2100 (includes refund for 6 prs of glasses)- this would allow me to take the cash and buy a new model of my chioce.

OPTION 2) Replace with pn59d8000!!!- This is 9'' bigger and the model up. My only concerns are all the issues with screen peeling and brightness pops I've heard about. Also not sure it will fit in my room (but im sure i could find a way to make it fit!)

OPTION 3) Replace with pn51e7000- this is the brand new '12 model but they will only send me this if its available by April 30 (warranty expires then). Im being told the new models should be out by then.

All pretty good options. I'm having a tuff time passing up on the 59'' d8000 model. But i have read about alot of issues with the D's...and the new E models sound like they are gonna be pretty great. And even if the new model isnt available in time i could at that point just opt for the cash refund...

so what do ya'll think?

I have the pnc638000

What issues are going on that I should look for? I just hit the 12 month mark since I bought it
post #7688 of 7930
Update--the repairman came out and replaced the entire panel; he stated that mine was the third one in my area that he worked on that had the pink banding issue. FWIW--the replacement panel had a manufacture date of 11/2011 (my original one had a date of 6/2010). So far, no banding but of course it's early; also--I guess it goes without saying that the overall PQ on the replacement panel looked much better than that of the one it replaced--colors seem more vibrant, PQ seemed to have a bit more "pop" to it. I didn't have to redo any of the personalized settings since the logic board was removed from the old panel and installed onto the new one.

We'll see how it goes, as far as whether the pink band issue returns--I have 83 days to decide if I should pull the trigger on the extended warranty.

"Screen peeling"- look in top corners. this would be a pretty noticable problem
"Brightness pops"- sudden jumps in brightness. apparenty happens when screen goes from light to dark. noticable in black bars
"Rising black level"- black level deteriorates over time affecting PQ
"Buzzing"- some are loud enough to be very distracting

Same thing here... I've yet to notice anything other than a sudden shift in brightness (so I turned Eco off).

I do browse this forum on a weekly basis and always wonder if I will be seeing some of these issues - granted, this is where people go usually BECAUSE they are having issues.

Thats good that u havent had issues. I do think Samsung has a high occurance of problems but you are right in saying most people come on here because they have issues. Many more are satisfied with their tv and dont have any issues so they dont come on here to complain about it. I kno i didnt join this forum until i had a problem.

well, looks like my new panel, installed 1/25 is crapping out. first i noticed a few black spots on it. then it wouldn't turn on or would turn on and then shut off. i'm hearing loud popping sounds as well as other sounds at times. however, the spots are now gone! very strange. i did notice the red light in the lower right corner stays lit when 'off' which according to the manual means the display is in standby. yet i have the eco settings all off. i called samsung (i'm under extended warranty) and they said they'd have someone call me in 24-48 hours. obviously i'm not happy about this and feel that's a bit long for a call!

Not sure if the above manual reference is absolutely true--after all, the red light is unlit when your display is actually "on"...so if you were expecting that the red light should be unlit when you turn off your display and eco settings are all off--then how would you really know if your display is indeed off, given that an unlit red light also signifies that the display is on (i.e., in use)? That, plus many HT enthusiasts would not like to see a red light glaring back at them while they're watching a movie on their display while in a darkened room.

Plus, a red light power indicator (when device is turned off) is typically meant as a visual aid to let you know that the device is connected to a live power outlet and as such, the device is receiving some sort of power.

FWIW--on my C8000 I have eco and quick power on settings turned off/disabled, and the red power indicator always lights up whenever I turn off my plasma.

thanks -- tho now i'm really confused!
Abt is coming out today- however last time they insisted they take the tv to the shop because it needs to be fixed in a 'controlled' environment and i was without the tv for 5 days. anyone else have a similar situation - not in home? my extended warranty is in home, but i do want it fixed correctly.
My C8000 is about 18 months old. Last week, it started some strange behavior. When I turn on my system, the sound comes on for a few seconds then it cuts off for about ten seconds. When the TV finally comes all the way on, the sound comes back. The feed is from DirecTV and Pioneer 1120 AVR. I have tried turning my DVR and AVR on manually first for about a minute then turning the TV on. The same thing happens so the cause of the problem seems to be the TV on sequence. I don't know why it affects the sound. The TV takes longer to come all the way on than it used to.

Ideas?

I just called the 1-800-samsung #. I just mentioned that I knew of others having the same issue. They extended my warranty, and replaced my panel. It was pretty easy, and went as well as it could have. They wouldn't let me get an extended warranty on the new panel though. I hope this panel works out, fingers crossed.
well Abt came out - said i had a defective panel. ordered me a new one. meanwhile the screen is completely off- they unplugged the main power source and said not to use it. could be up to week before i even get the panel, then another few days for the install!

Looks i have thick purple/pink line on the screen of my 63C7000. also. Tech said he is gonna replace 'X board or something first, since he did not believe that samsung would foot the bill for a screen

Samsung should foot the bill. They did for me, and I was 6 months out of warranty.

Ya mine was still a few days in warranty when i called and it looks like i was able to get the 3 mos extra by regerstering my set with samsung. I tried to tell him that by the looks of what i had seen on the net the boards more than likely would not work to fix it. mines alot worse than some pics i have seen.
Shame really in the last 4 years i have had 3 different sets replaced mits, panny and a sony. looks like it may be the same for this one.. Waiting for the boards to come in now so he can try them.
Well good luck. I just hope the same problem doesn't happen to my new panel.

Did you start getting the pink bands again or another problem?
no - it first started with a few black spots - about the size of a pencil eraser. then the screen would not turn on. then it would shut off - all with intermittent sounds - loud popping, clicking -- even a 'scream'! i thought someone is in the tv trying to get out!!

Thanks. They are sending someone out tomorrow to replace the panel. Pretty painless process, although the first lady I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about. She took my info/complaint but told me I was out of warranty. She then transferred me to customer relations. After being on hold for a half hour, I hung up. Two days later I received a call from the authorized servicer to set up an service call to replace the panel "under warranty". I had never called Samsung back, they just processed it. Like your set, mine was 6-7 months out of warranty. Thank u samsung for standing behind your product.
Glad it worked out for you, hope these panels do too......we shall see.
I'm getting my new panel installed today.... 2nd one in a month
