The Pitcher that started this all! Someone gave me that set of four glasses and the pitcher as a wedding gift. They thought I already had a kegerator, what a novel idea!!!!

Thanks, I am trying to decide what to do with it. Part of me says paint it gold and leave the facemask laying off of it. The other part of me says to paint it like a colts helmet and fix the facemask.

whats everyones opinion on this? (and no, I am not painting it like the saints, steelers, patriots, or usc, so dont even say it!)

Well, I am officially over drywalling!!!! I hate it. I am not very good and I seem to break as many peices as I am getting put in. The big sheets are easy and no problems there. Except one of the sheets that I used is bent wierd and I had to use five screws in the same area to help hold the drywall to the studs. And the little areas and spots that need to be trimmed to fit are really starting to piss me off!

I wish I had the money to pay someone to come in and do this for me!

ha. Thanks for the comments and concerns on my anger issues. Dont worry about me being upset, this thread is my tool of release. I am only saddend(IF THATS A WORD) by the fact that I have to redo that at this point.

As for the outlet box, that is a really wierd angle that I didnt notice before. Plus, the cover that I will be using is larger and does cover the edge by about half an inch. But since I will have to redo this, I will go back through and make it a little more snug (thats what I tried to do, but apperently my measurements were wrong) hey, in the immortal words of my hero, "perfect practice makes perfect" right!

ps. let me know if anyone knows who said that. 10 points to the first person to answer correctly!



Moving on...

I have one 8' section of rail, and one 6' section of rail. The bar is 8' long, so I cannot use one full peice on the front. and the 6' peice seems to be slightly warped, (very slightly warped) so before I cut it, should I do something to striaghten it, like take it back and get a different one? I just dont want to cut it and then find out I have to get a different peice to make this work.

Keep in mind, This rail is by far the most important item of the build (and the most expensive). I am trying really hard not to screw this up, so if I ask a ton of questions between now and monday, bare with me.

Sorry, I forgot a question.
I cant afford to go buy the corbles that I want to use. Like I said, I am starting the bar rail (hopefully) monday. Is it possible to wait and buy the corbles when I can afford them or should I wait to buy the corble and do it all at the same time? Or is it possible to just cover up the L brackets and keep chugging along?

While driving home friday night, I saw the open light still on in the local wood craft store. So I stopped in. Of course, they were closed, but they did not turn of the lights or lock the door yet. They were polite and gave me the card of the person that makes the rail (of course, she was already gone) and told me to call back on monday.

So instead of working on the bar this weekend, I am playing the waiting game until I can talk to the right person and know that I am getting exactly what I want. If she cant do any better of a job than what I have, then the work will start monday night.

Sorry, I dont have any real pictures that need posted (and havent for a quite a few days now). I did however make some progress, I just dont know if it was in the right direction.

After a few days of depth thought, which my head still hurts from, I decided the rail that I bought from the big box store is not going to work. So I took it back. I could make it work, but I dont want to compromise this at all. I want it perfect.

I did find exactly what I wanted at Indy's best kept secret. It took 6 months to discover!! And its cheaper!!!! Everybody wins. They are going to take one 14' section and cut it into two uneven peices, so I can transport it home. and that way I can have all one peice on the front and the grain will match the side peices too!!!!!!!!! Wahoo!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, I will have this rail by thursday. If the rest falls together and not apart.

But I just pulled the trigger on the 14' oak bar rail. My loving father is grabbing for me today since their ours are 8-5 and mine are 7:30-5:30 go figure.

So now the front of the bar will be all one peice!

I know, I have posted this a few times but I am excited so back off!

If I log in and find a picture of a half naked dude on my thread I will delete this website from my computer!!!!

But seriously, the bar rail is home at last. I will at least have it dry fitted and ready for light sanding and staining by sunday.

Tisk tisk, ye of little faith. I do apologize at the time of the pictures but, as I promised, it is still sunday and I have the updates.

First, I was delayed in starting on Saturday. I had to say goodbye to a dear old friend of mine. My grandpa died back in 2004, this was his car. A '72 Hurst/Olds Pacecar of the Indianapolis 500, the stickers have been off since the Resto. My grandma finally found a buyer. So I took it for one last trip. For both of us to say goodbye.

Now on to the fun stuff!
First I had to cut the trim to fit the bar rail



Then we cut the other side peice


and the most nerve racking part was not screwing up the front peice, but the corner mock up seems to have gone nicely!



Next up... this week I will be working on actually mounting the rail to the bar!

P.S. Please refrain from posting anymore half naked men on this site, as that was obviously premature!

Quick question. The guys at the wood mill said that I would be fine without removing the bar top. To put it simply, I just need support for the bottom of the bar rail and it doesnt have to run through to the other side of the bar to do it.

What does everyone think about that? I like the idea because that means I dont have to changed the height of the top (which I think is perfect).

Okay, before anyone says anything about how crazy this looks, I know.
I have a friend that is an engineering major. I am relying solely on him at this point. So please, go easy on me!

The 2x4's you see are the only way I could reach the proper measurements (without going out and buying more wood that I dont have the money for right now)
