Can you listen to a Radio while it's off?
How on earth do you think you could use data on a laptop while it's off???
And sleep IS off.

Well sleep on a Mac is not OFF. Because iTunes can play while the Mac is asleep and can stream via Airplay while it's asleep. Apps and Programs still work while it's asleep so its something with the squeezebox server not the Mac. I can't speak for the PC but.

iTunes can stream while the Mac is sleeping?
Seriously?
I have to try this.
Maybe it explains some of the weird sleep behavior my Mac is showing.

But I'd expect this to be some Apple-Specific Media layer to be built in the OS that can be used exactly by iTunes/AirPlay then.
Yeah, well before I had the touch I used to stream with an airport express and my Mac was set to go to sleep after 10mins. But my music kept playing, even for hours after it went to sleep. It must be a squeezebox server issue.

If it's asleep, you can't do anything. I don't know how the Apple music streamers work but when an application like itunes runs, it uses processor cycles and data passes through memory so it can't be asleep.

No, it's clearly something in iTunes/OSX keeping the Mac from really going to sleep if you stream. Can you _start_ streaming while the Mac is sleeping?

The power cord is 70 inches from the end that insets into the Touch to the wall wart and 2-1/4 inches from the edge of the wall wart to the center of the prongs.

It seems that you can run the squeezebox server on the Netgear NAS drives? Do any others work? I have a Lacie NAS drive is there anything special that I would need to do to use the NAS with the Squeezebox touch?

While I generally try to take audiophile tweaks with a grain of salt, I do find it pretty easy to buy in to the argument behind good power supplies. As such, my curiosity is always peaked when I see a product to replace the wall-wart of the SBT.

Most of the ones I have seen have been rather piecemeal affairswith the stock unit made for other purposes, and other voltagesbut then modified to work with the Squeezebox units; and that makes them pricey to boot. So I have to say I am VERY intrigued by the (new?) CI VDC-SB. One, CI (Channel Island) is a name I know and trust, two it appears the unit was made specifically for the Squeezebox (I assume, based on the SB in the model name); and three, at $259, it's about half to a third or the price of some other units I have seen. I mean seriously, what kind of nonsense is it to spend 3 times the price of the SBT transport, on an external PSU.

Soanyone had a chance to check it out yet? Let me get one before we all make a run on them!
^^^ I would be interested linear PS opinions as well. I have look at a couple that are available for sometime now.

I had to same issue with iTunes... I then ripped and converted to FLAC with dbpoweramp and all my album art appeared, 100% of the time. Do not know why, it just does.

I have a question about this device. Well it was what I seen on a sonos demo but im sure this thing can do it.

Watching the sonos demo it mentioned you just type in a song you want (not in your current files) and sonos finds it.

How exactly does it play any song you want when you type it in? Do you need a subscription to a music site? I looked at the squeeze box and it seems to have alot of music databases as well.

Is anyone else having trouble with their Squeezebox today? Mine has been down since sunday. My radio can't connect to mysqueezebox. I emailed customer service and got this reply-
Thank you for contacting Logitech's Customer Care.

Unfortunately there is no fix at this time. I would suggest giving it another 24 hours roughly before the mysqueezebox.com service is up and running again.

Please note; if we do not hear back from you within 1 week, we will assume that we were successfully able to resolve your support request and will set it to "solved". In this case, a survey will be sent to you to gather your feedback.

Thank you once again for your email.

It couldn't be easier. I think mine was up and running in less than 15 minutes.

I got mine this week and it only took about 15-20 minutes to setup.
15 minutes to set up is about right, assuming you have a stable home network. If you have connection difficulties, you could be in for a bit of frustration. If not, it's easy.

After you connect and setup, it's pretty maintenance free, save for the occasional firmware updates. They typically take 3-5 minutes and the SB Touch automatically reboots (or shuts down) after taking the update, so it's hands free and simple.

I would be interested in anyones experiences upgrading to the Squeezebox Touch from Squeezebox Classic. I love my Classic, but want to know if there are any performance differences between the two. One thing that concers me about the Touch: Can you see the screen from about 10 feet away? I like the scrolling text on the Classic because I have a projector I don't want to turn on to listen to music. Thanks for any and all opinions!

Not a direct response to thus but a side note: I have the SB classic + a projector as main display also, and have found the Ipeng app for Iphone/iPod/iPad to be a phenomenal remote controller. This would be superior to the screen on both devices for the type of usage that you are asking about.

I sit approx 10 feet from my Touch and with the text set to large, I have no problem reading the works on the display.

Touch supports audio with a sampling rate of up to 96 kHz.

Option to add an external USB drive.

Album Art.

To name a few perks of the Touch.
Agree the audio quality is superior, actually can play 172/24 music which it will down sample to 88 I think but at least it plays the higher res music. As for control, I use my logitech harmony one for basic controls, like if it were already running to skip songs, pause, shuffle, change display screen etc but because i have a massive library of music the ipeng app is definitely worth the money. It feels just like the iPod on the iPhone but has a few more features.but you can definitely see the screen from that distance. I will say that the touch does slope back on a slight angle so if it's at eye level you won't see the screen straight up and down. It's not too much of an angle for me but it may be for some other people. Definitely was my favorite purchase of 2010,

I have had the SBT since Dec 2010, my server sits on a Vortexbox Appliance. I also use iPeng on an iPad and my Harmony One for control. I have over 1000 CDs ripped in FLAC including DVD-A in 96/24. I never thought I would go digital, but I am very happy with SBT. I can not tell the difference from the actual CD and sometimes I think the SBT sounds better.
