I thought this was supposed to be a Calibration Forum? Is there no one calibrating these sets or are they all great Out of the Box?
Who says that?

We have been pretty busy getting settled into our new condo. We have very poor light control in our condo. The days are getting so long that I may wait until days are shorter before calibrating. When if does get dark we spend our time enjoying the LG.

Also I think the set is fairly well calibrated with a few tweaks out of the box. That was confirmed by Thomas J. Norton's review in Home Theater Magazine. Also it compares favorably to my Samsung DLP which was fully calibrated by Gregg Loewen.

However, I still plan on calibrating it. I am sure the already excellent image can be improved.

From my perspective, after watching it for a month, zone banding is a non/minor issue. The reflective screen is the issue that people should focus on when considering this set.

Local dimming isn't much of a plus on this set. To many flaws. And I've seen the 9500. Same thing. Just more money
post #187 of 1594
I am going to see the LE8500 for myself this weekend. This thread has be very worried about what I am going to see. I can only find a best buy that has the 47 inch model, when I want the 55 inch model...when viewing the 47 inch one, what will I see that I would or wouldn't on the 55 inch model? I know there are more zones on the 55" but to my knowledge, it's the same everywhere else. Glare shouldn't be a huge problem for me, and I am not a videophile at all, plus I'll be having awesome "xfinity" HD service so who knows what I should expect with that input (plus my ps3).

Are there any NEW production LED alternatives that anybody can recommended after viewing the LE8500 (and being disappointed)?

I'd wait for the new Sony line up to come out this summer. Should be pretty good. They have local dimming as well

Isn't Sony basically using the same local dimming technology?

So the Sony will be better than the LG, but you won't know until it comes out. Whereas the LG 9500 has not been released either, but you claim to have seen it. I'll leave all conclusions to the reader.

How/where have you seen the 9500?

eta: I see Andrew has already asked. Now we wait for the answer.

We have it in stock at my store. It's already being sold. It looks nicer then the LG8500 IMO. but I personally don't think it's worth the price upgrade.

I still think the Sony will be better then both sets. Cheaper as well

Interesting. What store is that? Care to post some pictures?

Hi JukeBox360. Very interesting. After browsing all over the web, I haven't been able of finding any fresh new about the LX9500.

I am very interested in any impression that you could give us of this tv, though I am afraid that you have given us your verdict: it's not worth.

Anyway, if you could be more explicit...

Thank you very much.

Best regards

Hmm. Disappointing, but not surprising. I guess I will have to impatiently wait for the HX900 and hope that it is better. I wish I could spend some time with one of the LGs and get an idea of how distracting the banding is. I was unable to detect it when looking at a 47LE8500 in the store. It seems to be an excellent TV other than the banding (I don't care about the glare).
The overall look of the tv is better. Haven't gotten to play with it to much. Since I'm working lol
post #198 of 1594
Yes. I've worked here since 05.

no. Because it seems to have so many flaws. Making it worse then Sammy.

Jukebox, please stop wasting our time with these random and unhelpful short posts.
You have added absolutely nothing of value to the thread. How about when you get off work, if you really do work at bestbuy, you post some details.

And are you sure you aren't talking about the LX9500, which the bestbuy website has now, while we are talking about the 9500 shown here:

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...5#post17847355

But considering you have 16 posts on the last 2 pages alone, with nothing actually worth reading, it might be best if you don't post again.
Really man, we are trying to have a mature exchange of information here so we can make decisions about a major purchase.
Well it best buy has them, that means we should be getting them soon That would be great if they hit before 05-11-10 as Chad will be here to do a few paid calibrations, we can throw a 55LX9500 on the schedule for review

What part of I was at work don't you get? Go to your local best buy and ask yourself. You don't bash someone and expect to get something in return. You want to see the tv. Wait for it to be out for you. We have them in stock. I'm sure others have it as well. I'm done with this thread due to people crying and being rude over nothing.

Let me know what you think. As I'm no pro and we do not calibrate our sets here. We hook em up. Plug em on. Store demo and walk away lol. You will as I'm sure everyone will agree. It does "look" nice. And from what I can see. It doesn't have the banding issue like before. Then again. We have all these dam lights on and it's pretty hard to tell. Avatar looks down right amazing on it. Idk if it's the setting we use or the tv itself. But the colors are very vivid. Avatar isn't really a good movie for blacks. So I cannot say anything about that aspect of it.
ignorance is bliss. Doing this isn't going to help you. Anyway. We have em in stock and we expect to get more Thursday. Guess we are getting ready to sell em up
post #205 of 1594
It's my understanding, a Best Buy store, online will show `No Stock', when there is only One in Stock and possibly One on Display. I've called the BB where I bought my first 55LH90, to check on availability and ETA and was told they did have One in stock even though Online stated `No Stock. Online will Not show stock unless it's above a certain quantity. So it's best to call Best Buy to check.
lol I'm sorry your best buy is being unhelpful. I will tell you 1st hand that just because we sell em. Doesn't mean we know more about em lol. Sad. But true. For instance. My store didn't even know the UN55B8500 was a backlit LED. Sad. But true. As for specs. I wouldn't be able to give more then you already know. I already said what I think about it's PQ. but as I also said. I'm no pro.

Apparently it's a "Magnolia" model, so you'll need to find a location with a store within a store. Who knows, perhaps you even called JukeBox's store. We'll never know.
Bestbuy.com does not show every state. We only show what's in stock by district of each warehouse. If a best buy is out of our district. We would be unable to tell you if it's in stock or not. Where I live isn't going to be able to help you. But I live in FL. That's still not going to help you. But as I've said. I've said what I can. I have no problem teyinnto answer questions if I can. But as far as where I live. Etc. Not going to happen. It's the net lol. If it's a problem for people. There's nothing I can do.

Not asking you to check stock for me. Don't care where you live. Care where you work so I can see the TV on display for myself. What is the store number where you work? I'm guessing it's the Melbourne store. The one next to PetSmart and across the street from Barnes and Noble?

There you go folks. If anyone is in Melbourne this weekend, head to the Best Buy and check out the LX9500 as it's rumored to be on display (if JukeBox360 is to be believed). I never liked that store, between Sports Authority, PetSmart and that discount clothing store the parking lot is always packed.
