I was able to play back content fro a hard drive. It need to formatted in fat32 since it cannot read NTFS. (Playstation3 is the same.)
Thanks PaulGo.
Was it a usb powered drive or a drive with a separate power supply?
USB powered.

The firmware update to version 1.51 covers North and South America. To date on the Panasonic global support web site there is no fix for the rest of the world concerning the video off issue on the sub hdmi port.

According to someone(vader100) from the below link the 1.31 update fixes the problem. John I also have the Australian version but haven't tested this yet. Could you please tell me if you've been able to playback files from a usb hard drive because not one of the drives I've tried has worked. If you have had success could you please tell me the specific brand and model?

I can confirm in the UK the 1.31 update fixes the V.OFF problem except on systems using the Onkyo 875 according to a poster on AVforums.
Thank you for the reply. I will try V1.31 software to see if it fixes the "Video Off" problem. To date I have not tried playing back files from a USB Hard Drive. What type of files are you trying to playback?

I can't get the player to even recognize any of the various drives I tried. They've all been FAT32 formatted usb powered drives.
I needed to shut off the player while the drive was plugged in and then turn the player back on to get it to recognize the USB drive.
So much for "Plug-N-Play"
Thanks for the info PaulGo but still no luck.
I'm hoping for a firmware fix but I don't think it's going to happen.
Get talking to Panasonic. I was very vocal to them about the V.OFF issue and it got done.
Sorry for the dumb question, but is it possible to switch from 3D -> 2D in the middle of a movie? I just received the 300 and am playing it with my Samsung 8000 series tv.

When I boot up the disc, it asks for 2d or 3d. I choose 3d which works fine, but is it possible to switch back to 2D in the middle? The options for 3D on the TV menu are greyed out.
You need to stop the movie to change the setting.

i have an onky808 and have bitstreamed dts hd ma audio dropouts in wolfman, repoman, and many more movies

Many vendor websites now show the DMP-BDT350 as discontinued.

I noticed something strange with my 300 last night. I put in Dexter Season 4, disk 3 and got the "Network found" message. After watching a couple of episodes, I switched to "Repo Men" and got the "No network found" message so it seems it depends on the movie whether you get the network or no network message and not the player. Has anyone else noticed this with either the 300 or the 350?

Sucks, I bet they are never going to enable DLNA music on this player. Oh well, will be ebay fodder once the dbp2011 comes down in price.

Hello,

Just installed a Denon AVR-3311 and watched the first BD with DTS HD MA passthrough.

Unfortunately from about the half of the film I also experienced DTS HD MA dropouts. First I expected some sort of layer break but the dropouts kept occuring. I think there were about 5 to 10 dropouts the whole movie.

BD: Gladiator (new EU remastered release)
DMP-BDT300 (Europe) with latest firmware, V-OFF.

Again this is only the first BD so can't tell if this problem is 'structural'.

Grimson - I have had the same dropouts with the new EU remastered BD of Gladiator, and just had the same problem with Prince of Persia. The common factor is DTS HD MA, yet I had not seen the problem before.

If I "rewind" and replay the same section, I don't get the drop out in the same place.

The fact that this only started happening this week makes me wonder if it's related to the firmware level, but I need to dig out other DTS HD MA discs and see if they are now giving problems.

It's very frustrating as until now I have been 100% happy with the BT300 and VT20 combination.

Hi 'k5aij'!

Thanks for the reply,
Indeed 'rewinding' after a dropout does not reproduce the problem (on the same spot). I only wandered where the problem would exist, BD player or receiver.
I too have the VT20 great combi!

Before the AVR-3311 (and the BDT300 firmware 1.31) DTS HD MA etc. on the 5.1 analogue output did work flawlessly.

Anyway, I regard your post as that DTS HD MA over HDMI did work with firmware below < 1.31 so I'm curious if other people do have these dropouts as well.

Hi Grimson,

We are even closer than you think - my AV amp is a Denon 3310.

I updated the firmware on the Denon today and confirmed that I am also on the latest firmware for the 300. Despite the upgrade it unfortunately made no difference.

I also tried other movies that use DTS HD Master Audio and they don't have the problem, so I'm not sure where the problem lies now? Arguably it may be the individual BDs, but my gut feel is that it's firmware related since we have almost identical setups? Maybe our best hope may be the next firmware update for the 300?

If anyone has any other bright ideas, please let us know. Right now the only obvious solution is to disable HD audio when the drop-outs happen.

I've had the 350 for a few months now and have been dealing with what appears to be a handshake issue with my Sammy legacy 3D TV.

I start up my system which defaults to input 1 on the TV from my Integra receiver. I have the Panny 350 HDMI main going to the TV into input 3 and the HDMI sub into the Integra. When I switch inputs on the receiver to the 350, and switch the TV input to 3, I get no sound. I've been using a workaround I've discovered - switching the TV input to 1 for about 5 seconds until I hear sound from the 350 kick in, then I switch the TV input back to 3 and the sound remains.

Latest software update didn't make a difference. Anyone else dealing with this. I suppose the Integra could be the issue as well.

Same here. Very impressive machine!

Do you need to have an SD card to save BD-LIve stuff on this? It seems to have some kind of built-in memory for storing bookmarks, but I see no reference to the built-in storage anywhere.

Quick follow up - I now have three disks, all with the same audio dropouts - "Gladiator" (EU remastered), "Robin Hood" (Ridley Scott) and "Prince of Persia".

I think we are definitely into a compatability issue, and I'm hoping for a firmware update fix.

I had the same audio dropouts on my UK BDT-300 for the first time, with Prince of Persia BD. I watched the second half of the film on another player and it played fine . Put the disc back in the BDT-300 and got the dropouts again .

I have sent an email to Panasonic. They've always come up with a fix, in my experience, so I'm hoping for the best.

My BDT300 is connected to the internet via ethernet cable. I have BD Live prohibited but when I play a BD that has Live I get the pop-up message saying can not connect to network. Configure settings. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to allow BD Live even though I never use it?
