It looks like your opinion is a valid one... I tested using another Iron Man 2 BD and audio dropouts still occur at the same points in the movie.

I agree, the french soundtrack of IM2 is in DD5.1 and full of dropouts.

I am not a happy camper. I just updated to the new firmware (1.61) on the BDT-350 and it removed my 5.1 output individual speaker settings that I had saved.

Even worse though, is after the firmware, making adjustments to the individual speaker level settings does not work at all. If you change the decebel levels using the pink noise generator from the player to allow you to adjust the speaker settings using an SPL meter, the actual pink noise levels do not change anymore as you adjust the decibels on the player for each speaker (so you can't make any individual speaker adjustments).

This probably will not effect most folks, but as I use an old Cary Cinema 6 that does not allow you to make adjustments using the the pre/pro when utilizing the audio inputs, this function was crucial for me to get proper sound when using the BDT-350. Now I wish I did not upgrade:-(

A friend is using an Adapter Kit (3DA-1) with DirecTV and Mits 82737. If he connects a Pany 300/350 blu-ray player directly to the TV (not through the adapter) & sets the Pany & TV each to their 3d mode, will he be able to use the 3d glasses to watch a 3d Blu-ray dvd? I don't know what determines when the adapter emitter is on (does it need to be in 3d mode and/or need a signal going through it?).

The big test will be to see whether the audio dropouts people are experiencing on certain movies are corrected. I can try Iron Man 2 this weekend if people want me to test. Someone else might be able to test earlier?

Yes, set the players 3D mode to checkerboard and I would just plug the emitter right into the back of the TV and not through the adapter.

I am a UK owner of a BDT300 and had reported audio drop-outs on several disks (Gladiator EU remaster, Prince of Persia, Robin Hood) on this forum.

I updated to the new firmware today (BDT300 v1.42) and did a quick test on Prince of Persia, since that was by far the worst offender. The good news is that the problem appears to have been addressed by this latest update!

I have over 200 Blu-Rays and this is the first time I have had this kind of problem with Panasonic, and they appear to have responded pretty quickly. By comparison with other brands, I am impressed. I think there is some unwarranted criticism of the player, since the problem is typically disks that don't follow the standards and cause hardware problems - maybe we should criticise the Blu-Ray software suppliers, not the players?

One final point - as usual, my trusty PS3 was able to play these without any issues! However, the picture quality of the BDT300 is much better and the two HDMI outputs for HD audio make it well worth the investment.

Has anyone tried separating sound and video apart with the spare hdmi outlet on the bdt300/350s?

I'm also wondering if perhaps the network device is causing trouble. If you've ever had experience with troubleshooting PCs, sometimes an audio card will conflict with the network card when the network does it's periodic handshakes with other networks. Usually this is from the result of a bad drive from either one of the two.

I have video/sound coming from HDMI one and Audio only on HDMI port 2 and get the dropouts.. I will have to tryout the new update 1.61 to see if it fixes the dropout problem..

so just to clarify does that casino bd work fine now?

BDT350 Firmware has just been updated to version 1.61:

I tested Iron Man 2 using main HDMI to 65VT25 and second HDMI (audio only) to Pio SC-07 with bitestream selected and I am glad to report that audio dropouts now seem to be a thing of the past. I didn't watch the whole movie thoough, only the first few chapters...

Thanks Panasonic for that fix! Now please fix that unstable Blur Reduction option and the 96Hz false contouring issue on the VT25 and you'll make a lot of happy campers!! Think of all that free publicity you will get!

Yes, Casino BD is now working with the v .61 firmware.
Used to lock up most Panny BD players just before loading the menu. It still takes a bit to load... but give it an extra moment and it will load.

Sorry for the confusion. I've been dealing with Panasonic Customer support for past several days, when all I asked was if they knew if there was a compatability issue. They never answered, they just kept telling me to try different things...
^^^ I own Casino BD and I do remember that main menu screen taking awhile to load. I haven't played it yet on my BDT-300. Watched The Last Of The Mohicans last night and happy to report no droputs while listening to the DTS-MA HD track.
well this is great news i thought i would have had to bring back this player thanks god i dint have to cause the processing this does looks truly amazing.
Bravo and congratulations Panasonic, for fixing the dropout problem! I've had no issues since the 1.61 upgrade.

However, I am now getting odd dropouts when viewing 3D films. Both the audio AND video sporadically drop every now and then. Has anyone tested 3d films? I can't really test this issue much since there's a lack of 3d movies.
what movies exactly...cause i will try once i get home...

Got my 350 a couple of days ago and the Optima BG-ZD101 DLP Link glasses came yesterday. All I can say is Holy #$%^. At first, I had my Samsung HL67A750 in the incorrect mode 1 and was not impressed, even though I was getting a slight 3D image. I thought, "Oh well more money down the drain". Eventually, I figured out my error. Yikes, night and day. Incidentally, you need to be in 3D mode 2 on the TV.

So far, I've only watched the Panny Demo disc and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 3D. And a couple other BD discs like Apocalyto and Hell Boy II. No audio dropouts. I didn't expect any. I'm on Firmware 1.61 and I'm not running to a receiver. I'm in the market for a new receiver.

I must say the DLNA capabilities of this player sucks. It's certainly no substitute for the PS3. Once, I determined this, I regretted getting the 350 instead of the 300. But, upon further investigation, I find I got my 350 for the same price as the 300.

So, if you've got a slightly older Samsung (or Mitsubishi) DLP TV with 3D gaming capability, this player works great.

I just picked up the Panasonic DMP-BDT300 today after finding a deal I couldn't pass up, just over $204 including tax and 2 year replacement plan from Ultimate Electronics. Of course this was a display model, but it is in mint condition and includes remote, all accessories and box.

The reason I was looking to get this model is because I recently upgraded my display to a new Mitsubishi DLP and wanted to go 3D eventually without having to rely on the Mitsubishi adapter, and to ensure compatibility with my Onkyo receiver when doing 3D and lossless audio, even though it has hdmi 1.4.

This replaces my Samsung BD-C6900, has anyone compared the BDT300 to this? Since I have both at the moment, I might try to compare PQ at least but I am guessing it would be hard to tell.

I also have the 300 but like the BD35 model better because of it's speed in ejecting tray and loading the movie. I'm thinking that maybe the 300 got slower because of all the network stuff added to it.

My first 3d blu-ray player was the BD-6900. My experiences with it were not great. It had a very fast loading process but was notoriously buggy. The player would constantly freeze. Despite having brand new batteries in my remote control, the samsung bd-6900 had a poor receiver and I constantly had to repeatedly tap the same button on the remote. As far as video, the bd-6900 ran remarkably well though. The audio was a different story. If you have an Onkyo receiver, it has been well known that the bd-6900 and onkyo receivers have handshake issues when playing Dolby True-HD or DTS HD-Master to the receiver. The blame is on the BD-6900 as other blu-ray players work fine with the onkyo.

That was the main reason why I got the BDT300. It's a far better player. Yes, it does have some flaws of its own but they are more bearable to stomach than the BD-6900. Honestly, I don't think you'll be seeing a perfect blu-ray player for a few years. The technology is still rather new in the market.

I purchased the 350 model about a week ago and have watched Avatar and Iron Man. This unit has a great picture and the sound on both video and music is great.

However, the problem is that when watching the movie, the video will drop out (audio is still proceeding) from 2-5 seconds.

The 350 HDMI out (i tried both the main and the sub) is connected to a denon 3310ci (with monster hdmi) which is then fed to a Mits 65833 TV
(with audioquest hdmi). There were about 20 drop outs on Avatar alone.

When replaying the same scenes the drop outs don't re-occur either so this seem like a hdmi handshake issue.

I have update the firmware to 1.6 on the 350 and the denon is also up to date.

The 350 replaced a Samsung 1400 Blu-ray play (about 3yrs old) and I did not have these drop outs.
Over the next few days I will try connecting the 350 directly to the Tv.

Has anyone had an issue with the 300/350 and video drop outs? If so, are there any suggesstions to fix.

Thanks!

No, some of us were having audio dropouts on certain movies prior to 1.6 but I haven't had any video dropouts. I have the 300 but haven't tried Avatar since I'm waiting for the 3D version to come out.

How many are you using the 300 model on a Mitsubishi DLP. Do you like what you see? Are you having any problems with the player and the checkerboard out put?
I am looking into getting this player for my WD-65835 DLP. Since I found out that Oppo new 93 3D player will not do checkerboard output. Any info would be grat!
thank you,
Daniel

I'm using the 300 with a Mits 73833 DLP. It seems to be working fine except I haven't tried any full-length 3D movies but only the samples that came with the 300 and the 3D adapter. Also, I'm not using the adapter right now but am connected from the main on the 300 directly to the TV and the sub on the 300 to a Denon 2311ci and using only the 3D emitter with the 3D glasses. I can only watch 3D BD movies and no other content that is 3D until I get a HDMI splitter that works with 3D.

I use a Samsung DLP with this player and it works great with no ghosting with the 10 Blu ray 3D discs that I have. So you should have no issues since they are similar type of televisions.
