Official Panasonic DMP-BDT300/350 Owners Thread - Page 15

So glad to see that a few are reporting no audio dropouts under the new 1.61 update on the DMP300. I have this player for a month now and have had brief dropouts on Iron Man 2, Monsters, Inc. (yes, both have DTS-HD Master Audio), and a couple other titles. Interestingly, it also loaded Casino so awfully slowly, and so I tested it out with the new firmware and it most definitely loads faster (although my Sony S570 loads it much more quickly than my DMP300).

Prior to the update, I had the original box ready to repack the player for returning, but will hold onto it for now and test those titles again in the near future.

When will Panasonic add more Network Apps? Netflicks, Amazon, Pandora and You Tube are the main apps that are on there Blu Rays. Samsung seems to have many more.

I have had my BD350 for 3 months and it was working great. I send video via main HDMI out to my 65VT25, audio via sub HDMI to my Onkyo 875. Subout is always litup in my BD and audio has been flawless. All of a sudden when I tried to play 3D Cloudy with Meatballs, NO AUDIO I re-checked my settings nothing changed. I then set the HDMI audio out to on and I have audio through my Onkyo, this should be used to direct audio to TV, although as I sent only HDMI to TV for video signal and audio to Onkyo I guess with it turned on it sends audio to Onkyo, I still get all the proper audio signals. Any ideas, I will be calling Panasonic shortly.

My panasonic BD350 is connected the same way as yours. Sub out to my MAC MX150 processor. Video out to my Mitsubishi 3d display. I just got the same disk yesterday. Cloudy with Meatballs. It played flawlessly. Did you do the latest firmware update? I was a little disappointed with the 3D compared to the Panasonic demo disk. I hope the two new disc I preordered from Amazon are better. Polar Express and Imax deep sea. Let me know if your problem gets worked out.

Next day I tried again and all was fine? I changed setup in BD350 back to HDMI audio out to OFF, the preferred setting. Restarted all components and it worked just fine. Must be a handshake issue, annoying you just don't know when it will happen again. For me it happens when I remove the HDMI main out of BD350 to place in ONKYO to watch other source, (monitor out from Onkyo to TV) then when replace to BD350 for direct to TV, the loss of audio happens but not all the time. Maybe firmware update will fix? Or spend $$$ for 3D complient AVR.

Hi all, I am thinking about getting the BDT-300. I'm in the UK so it'll be the UK version, I was going to get either the Samsung C6900 or the C8900 player but had to re-think cos I have a Pioneer VSX 1018 AH-K AVR and it doesn't support HDMI v1.4, the Samsung players don't have the dual HDMI outputs, so when I noticed that the Panasonic BDT-300 has dual outputs, I quickly became attracted to the player.. I already have a v1.4 HDMI lead, I got it not long after I bought the Samsung LE40C750 Full HD 3D LCD TV,

my question is, will I be able to set this up using the sub audio output on the player to the pioneer and the main to the tv?? And will I be able to have all the audio options including HD audio Master etc...?

Thanks in advance,

I plan to buy the player hopefully over the weekend so that if I order online I should receive it the beginning of next week..

Yes and yes. It appears that the Samsung BD-C7900 is not available in the UK, that also would have been a viable option for you.

The Panasonic is a bit slower to load than the Samsung models but I believe that overall, you will be pleased with the Panasonic.

Why don't any of you guys use the optical out? I've never used HDMI for audio and have NEVER had dramas?

Also has there been any news on the 300 DLNA issues? (australia)

Optical out cant transfer High Definition audio. If you do use optical you'll miss DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby True-HD streams .

I think you would be better off using the analogue outputs and let the Panasonic decode the HD streams.

+1

And IMHO the DLNA feature on my 350 sucks.

ahhhh, THAT's the benefit. Well my older Pioneer receiver doesn't have HDMI so I doubt it'd do the HD anyway? Better put that on the x-mas list!!

What's with that? Can't be that hard can it? Why would they make it SUCH a dick around to access files on ya PC?

You can enjoy (7.1) HD Audio if you can connect the 6 analogue outputs to your receiver. Then the pressure for a new one is much less
But I did upgrade too (Denon AVR) and do enjoy technologies like Audessey etc. above the true HD experience

Is the quality actually better on the Analog vs. optical?

Noticeably.

I'm not sure about the 300, but the 350 has 7.1 channel analog output and internal support for output of all of the HD audio formats via the analog connections.

If your receiver has multi-channel analog input, this is the next best option if your receiver does not decode the new HD audio codecs.

Spence

By the time you lose speaker and room correction (with most equipment) it might well be worse.

Seriously the player can play MP3/WMA files, but it can't play MP3/WMA off a PC with DLNA, even though it supports DLNA?? How lame is that? I have to admit, I got suckered on this aspect of the player when I bought it.

If I kmew then what I know now, I coulda saved a bunch of money.

Overall, I think the 350 is a very nice player but Panasonic's implementation of "DLNA" is a joke. They would have been better served just releasing the 300 and leaving it at that.

I bought the 350 for all of its other features, (I especially like dual HDMI) as my LG 390 does an excellent job with file sharing and DLNA. In addition, I got the 350 for a very good price.

Not trying to be a philistine but how does this unit compare to the Samsung BD-C7900 in overall quality and functionality? I have both a panasonic 3d tv and a Samsung led 3d tv, and I am currently using PS3 with the Samsung tv. I need one more 3d blu ray player to go with the Panasonic plasma, but it need not be the panasonic blu ray player if the Samsung 7900 is definitely superior to the panny. I am asking because of all these glitches being discussed on this thread (i.e. video and audio dropouts that are linked with the panny). I have a Denon 989 which only does HDMI 1.3 so the dual HDMI outputs on both units is a plus. Any help would be welcome. Thanks. P.

Amazing difference...
I have an 10 year old Elite reciever that only supports Dolby Digital.
When I bought the BDT300, the salesman casually suggested that I should connect the analog ports to my reciever as an External Input to pick up the new DTS-HD. I didn't think that there would be a big difference since the rest of my gear is so old...

But I tested a few discs and immediately could hear the differences between the DTS-HD and DD 5.1.
The front dialog was much clearer and the rear surrounds were finally doing their job. Nice, discrete sound to both rear channels.
Some discs were better then others, depending on the source material. So your mileage may vary...

Worth a couple of old RCA cables to test. Probably sounds even better with some decent cables (all mine were too short)

Quick answer, what are you talking about? The 300/350 will output bitstream or PCM according to what you select.

I am picking up the BDT300 on friday, does the tv go straight to 3D mode or will it do the following like it does when I am watching sky 3d through the dreambox 8000 ?

See the following pics:

It asks when you put the disc in whether you want 3D or not. Otherwise, goes straight to 3D if that's what is selected. I do, however, have to put my TV(Samsung HL67A750) in 3D mode manually once the 3D programming goes to screen.

So I have the bt300 and a denon 2807 receiver to go with a vt20 tv. HDMI main to the 3dtv, audio to the denon. I cannot get 7.1 lossless sound via hdmi sub output on the denon. I've checked, everything appears to be set correctly. I don't get it considering the ps3 used to pass 7.1 to my denon in the form of pcm. Is this an issue between the panny player and the denon. If so, it sucks since I had thought i had a workaround for having to get a new receiver.

Have you set the BDT-300's audio to PCM and secondary audio to off? These are the settings that should work for you with the Denon 2807. Not setting secondary audio to off is an oversight made by quite a few people.
