Xbox component cable not putting out blue

Just beforehand, I want to mention I have triple checked the connections, the green blue and red cables are all inserted correctly. Have also tried it on other tvs. Have also tried resetting the display options via the dashboard.

This cable is also a 3 way adapter that works for PS3 and Wii, and have tried it on those systems and blue comes through just fine.

So, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is an xbox hardware failure of any kind. Only thing left I have not tried is a new component cable, because I dont have one. Just wondering if anyone can help out before I go out, buy a new component cable, and find out it is a hardware issue therefore wasting $15.

thanks in advance!

I would get the Microsoft cables and ditch the 3rd party cables. Unless you're connecting to a non-hdtv, it sounds like something's wrong with your cable.

Are we talking about an original Xbox or an Xbox 360?

I was under the impression that a lot of third party Xbox 360 cables had issues because they didn't have the proper HDTV/SDTV switch which grounds/shorts a given pin on the connector.

ah sorry, I am talking about a 360.

It was an odd occurrence, because the cable had been working fine for over 2 years, then one day blue just wouldnt work.

So it is either a problem with the cable where it enters the xbox 360 or a problem with the xbox itself, which is what I am most worried about.

Oh well, guess I will risk the $ and buy a new cable. Better than wasting it on a new xbox if not needed

Get a set of 360 cables from Monoprice....That's about all I use and have no issues with them. Can't beat the price.

pyrat3,

I had something very similar happen to me. It was a sign that my graphics chip was dying. Not long after blue went, I started getting rainbow effects and pixelation and then no video at all. Still got sound, but no video. Sadly, it was not covered under the 3 year RROD/E74 error extended warranty.

I hope that your problem ends up being the cables and not the xbox hardware.
