Will Mits have a 3D Blu-ray player in 2010?

Mitsubishi 3DTVs don't have a 2D to 3D conversion feature. They never released this player. Could they be the first to offer a 3D BD player that will do 2D to 3D conversion for optical discs?

Mitsubishi planning 3D Blu-ray player for early 2008

Most of us were pretty impressed by the demo, which included clips from movies, commercials, and sporting events. There was real depth to the 3D, and you got that 3D-feeling of objects poking out at you from the screen. All the demo material had been shot in 3D, but the kicker to the whole presentation was that Mitsubishi apparently has a Blu-ray player in its labs that can convert existing 2D movies into 3D on the fly. Better yet, according to company representatives, it may be available early next year.

Hey Lee, I'm new here but i have been following the 3DTV stuff for a while and have to say thanks to all of your informative posts. I saw this article before and wondered if it was still in the works or a scrapped project. I certainly would love to see it, seeing as I have a Mits wd-60737. Thanks again and please feel free to chime in on anything I post Lee. Your criticisms or confirmations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I am going to send an Email to my contact at Mits to see what he says about this.

If Mits also offers a new 3D Blu-Ray player this year I would assume that they would have it avaliable prior to June and that it would support Checkerboard output for their 3D DLP HDTV's so that cusomers would not have to purchase a competitor's 3D BR player and the Mits conversion box.
Anyone know if Mits has any plans for a new 3D Blu-ray player?

Lee,

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc. has never made a formal announcement about a 3D blu-ray player...

Best,
Nick

That was in response to a BD player they once showed that would do 2D to 3D on the fly for OD - they showed it almost 3 years ago

Don't know but I read in another thread where at a BestBuy a Mits RPTV was tested with the Panasonic 3D/BD player and it worked great!

AFAIK, Mits doesn't make a USA based BD player. So what existing inventory is there?

Ok I have a Mits 65" DLP 3d ready tv , I have the nvidia 3d kit with a extra set of glasses, I have a pc with compatible graphics card and I recently purchased the new power dvd 10 from cyberlink, you can download a 30 day trial. It does regular 2d dvd's and Bluray 2d to 3D and it works great, also it will do full hd 3D bluray with a free update later in the summer. So if you already have a gaming pc with bluray and 3D vision kit from nvidia get this program and you will be good to go as far as 3D Bluray goes.
I can't post the url links because this is my first time posting here. just google power dvd 10 and it will take you to the cyberlink web page.

Hope this helps some of you guys out.

here is the statement from the cyberlink website

Free Blu-ray 3D Upgrade: Consumers who have purchased PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D can upgrade their software for free to enable Blu-ray 3D playback and 3D video file playback. Available this summer.
